This article describes you a pictorial guide for installing Pear Linux 6.1 with screenshots on 32-bit system.

Installation of Pear Linux 6.1

Boot your computer using Pear Linux 6.1 Installation CD/DVD ISO image and Use the down arrow key to select the “Start the installer directly” and press Enter to start the installation.

Select the Language and click on Continue.

Select Language

Preparing to install Pear on the available Drive Space. Click on Continue.

Installation type provides two options. The first one is “Erase disk and install Pear“, this option deletes all the data on the disk and install Pear. Second option is “Something else“, here you can customize and create partitions. But In my case I selected the first option i.e. “Erase disk and install Pear“. You can choose any options depending upon your requirements.

Click on “Install Now” to proceed installation of Pear in selected drive.

Select Time Zone and Click on “Continue“.

Установка Pear OS 8

An Open Source Ubuntu based Linux operating system inspired by the Mac OS X concept

Pear OS (formerly Comice OS) also known as Pear Linux is an easy-to-use Linux distribution based on the Ubuntu operating system and heavily inspired by the design of the Mac OS X desktop. (This project has been discontinued, please read the last paragraph). Pear OS was always based on the latest stable version of the Ubuntu Linux operating system, but it also included various components from the unstable branch of the Debian GNU/Linux distribution.

Features at a glance

Pear Appstore is one of the most highlighted applications of Pear OS. However, the operating system contains many other in-house built applications, such as My Pear for customizing your entire desktop environment, Clean My Pear for keeping your system clean, and Pear Security for securing your entire OS. Furthermore, Pear PPA Manager can be used for managing third-party software repositories Pear Contacts for storing and organizing your contacts, Pear Cloud for keeping all of your important file in the cloud, and Pear Updater for keeping your entire system up-to-date.

Uses a highly customized GNOME desktop environment

The desktop is actually a highly customized version of GNOME, an open source desktop environment used in many popular Linux-based operating system. It’s composed of a panel and a dock. Default applications include Nautilus file manager, Mozilla Firefox web browser, Mozilla Thunderbird email client, Shotwell image viewer, Evince document viewer, Empathy instant messenger, Gedit text editor, Musique audio player, and Synaptic Package Manager.

Distributed as 32-bit and 64-bit Live DVDs

It is distributed as two Live DVD ISO images, one for 64-bit architectures and another one for 32-bit architectures. The boot menu provides the usual entries that allow you to boot the live environment, install the entire system, boot the currently installed operating system, and start the Live CD in safe graphics mode.

It has been discontinued

Sadly, Pear OS has been discontinued in early 2014, as it was acquired by an unknown company. Softpedia will still provide download links for the latest version of Pear OS until a cease and desist letter is received from the new owner.

Обзор Pear Linux 6 — хорошая альтернатива Mac OS и Windows

Недавно на глаза мне попалась система Pear Linux, основанная на Ubuntu (Pear от англ, груша). Сразу хочу сказать, что это пародия на OS X. И я скажу Вам, она нравится мне больше чем Ubuntu. Почему? Сейчас расскажу.
Первое что я увидел после установки — это красивый минималистичный рабочий стол.

Далее моё внимание привлек Launchpad. Не очень то он похож на то же приспособление в OS X. Ну и правильно, а то еще Apple засудит такую классную фирму.

Далее я был просто в восторге, от того что у этой системы есть свой магазин приложений, хотя подобный репозиторий есть почти во всех дистрибутивах Linux, тут он включает довольно много приложений с подробным описанием.

Но дальше меня удивил тот факт, что это первый мой запуск системы, я ничего не скачивал, а тут уже 184 обновления. Но оказалось что там обновления встроенных программ и прочих внутренностей линукс, кстати даже саму это систему можно обновить отсюда же. Очень удобно.

Далее Mission Control
Здесь он так же, как и в Linux Mint разделён на две части. Ничего нового и интересного.

Ну, и на последок, оставил самое интересное. Кнопка на весь экран. Просто и понятно. Очень хорошо сделали.

Ну, уже под конец, я заметил, что встроенный скриншотер, очень не плох и имеет функцию: Захватить после задержки. Я думаю, в скриншотере это скоро тоже появится.

Итоги. По моему мнению, это самая удобная система из всех бесплатных, и если Вы хотите себе Линукс, но с каждым линуксом, который вы пробовали, у Вас были какие-то проблемы, то ставьте Pear Linux. Не пожалеете.
