- Implemented new “turbo” kernels ( -clkernel 3 ) for AMD Polaris cards that can work with the current DAG sizes over 4 GB. Note that -clkernel 3 uses double the VRAM and will provide slightly faster hashrate with slightly higher power consumption. You can use the -rvram command-line parameter to specify how much VRAM to be left unused
- Increased the maximum supported DAG epoch to 600 (i.e. until about Sep 2023)
- Implemented full hardware control for AMD RX6900/6800/6700 cards under Linux. Note that with these cards under Linux you need to specify relative core voltage: e.g. -cclock -50 will set the core voltage to be 50 mV under the default value
- Added ROCr kernels for Vega, Radeon VII and Navi cards. With these kernels you will be able to run these cards with Linux drivers 20.45 and later but the performance will be lower than with the older PAL drivers and kernels. We recommend using AMD Linux driver 20.30 for all cards except RX6900/6800/6700
- Fixed an issue causing crashing with some RX6900/6800/6700 cards under Linux (there is no need to run these cards with — clkernel 0 anymore)
- Added support for AMD Windows drivers up to 21.7.2. Note that Radeon VII cards will not work with drivers 21.6.1 or higher — you need to use older drivers for proper operation of these cards
- Added support for AMD Linux drivers up to 21.20 (use older drivers for Vega or Radeon VII cards as they will not work with 21.20)
- Numerous other fixes and small improvements

Fastest Ethereum/
Ethash miner with lowest devfee
Effective Ethereum mining speed is higher by 3-5% because of a completely different miner code — much less invalid and outdated shares, higher GPU load, optimized OpenCL code, optimized assembler kernels.
Supports both AMD and nVidia cards (including in mixed mining rigs). It runs under Windows x64 and Linux x64.
The watchdog timer checks periodically if any of the GPUs freezes and if it does, restarts the miner. Supports memory straps for AMD/NVIDIA cards. Use the -straps command-line option to activate it.
Step 1: Download the miner
Attention! For security reasons, Windows may stop you from opening the bat file. In this case, you should permit it to open in the pop-up window.

Now that your miner is set up, you’re able to sit back and watch as your video cards gain you passive income every day in the form of Ethereum. It is important to consider any variable costs that you may incur during the mining to determine your profitability. Variable costs may be electrical costs, maintenance costs, pool fees, dev fees, exchange fees, etc.
Every pool has a different interface but the principle stays the same. You’ll need to go to your pools website and type in your public wallet address. Let us use Ethermine pool as an example.
You type your public wallet address in the search bar and you’ll be able to see all of the information about your Ethereum mining efforts. In the case of Ethermine pool once your balance reaches 0.01 ETH it will get sent to your wallet address that you’ve typed into the start.bat file earlier.

How does Ethereum mining work?
The result of digital mining is called proof of work system. . However, mining Ethereum means more than increasing the volume of Ether in circulation. It is also necessary for securing the Ethereum network as it creates, verifies, publishes, and propagates blocks in the blockchain.
What do you need to mine Ethereum?
- An Ethereum wallet to hold all of your newly found currency;
- GPU drivers;
- A mining application (PhoenixMiner AMD+NVIDIA GPU Miner);
- A mining pool address if you’re going to mine within a mining pool;
- A graphics card (GPU) with at least 4gb of RAM.
How many Ethereum can be mined?
Most Ethereum blocks are around 2mb. A new Ethereum block is created every 14 seconds. 18 Million Ether are mined every year.

- Validated support for Nvidia RTX 3090, 3080, 3070, and 3060Ti GPUs. Those still use the current kernels and there are no speed increases from the previous PhoenixMiner release
- Add support for the older AMD Linux driver 19.50-1011208-ubuntu-18.04 (used by some Linux mining OSes and other software)
- Added new kernels to allow mining on AMD Hawaii cards (R9 390, etc.) with the current and future DAG epochs (even with DAG buffer above 4GB for the 8GB cards).
Note that the AMD Windows drivers do not support compute mode for Hawaii cards, so the hashrate will be quite low (14-15 MH/s with the current ETH DAG epoch). This problem is fixed under Linux, where you can get the full 29-30 MH/s speed out of the Hawaii cards.
Some notes on the best (or at least some of the better) drivers for AMD cards:
If you have 6GB or 8GB card that is at least Polaris (i.e. 470/480/570/580, Vega, Radeon VII, Navi), you should run at least driver 20.5.1 under Windows 10, or driver 20.10.x under Linux.
If you have 4GB Polaris card (i.e. 470/480/570/580), ideally you should also run drivers 20.5.1 or later. At the very least the drivers should be either 18.12.1.1 to 19.7.5 (inclusive), or 19.12.2 and later. Under Linux, drivers 19.x.x or 20.x.x should be OK for 4GB cards.
Avoid using the 20.40.x, and 20.45.x drivers under Linux.

IMPORTANT! The versions of PhoenixMiner before 4.0 only support DAG epoch up to 235. Both ETC and ETH passed DAG epoch 235 some time ago. The unfortunate result is that the old version(s) of PhoenixMiner won’t be able to create DAG or mine ETH or ETC any more — you must upgrade to PhoenixMiner 4.x if you are mining ETH or ETC.
Changes in version 4.2c (since 4.1c):
- Added support for dual mining Ethash and Blake2s on Nvidia GPUs
- Added new Nvidia kernels v3 with slightly higher hashrate and lower power consumption (up to about 1-1.5% less power). The new kernels are supported only on GTX1050/1060/1070/1080/Ti GPUs and are enabled by default on these GPUs. Note that you can’t use these kernels for dual-mining, only -nvkernel 2 works for dual mining on Nvidia.
- Added new command-line option -nvkernel to select the old (v1 CUDA kernels from PhoenixMiner 3.5), newer (v2 introduced with PhoenixMiner 4.0), or the latest CUDA kernels (v3). The possible values are 0 (auto; the default, selects the best kernel for each GPU), 1 , 2, or 3 (forces v1, v2, or v3 kernels respectively). Note that only v2 CUDA kernels support dual mining.
- Added experimental support for ProgPOW mining of Bitcoin Interest (BCI). Note that the kernels are not optimized and only work on AMD. You must add -coin bci to the command line (or COIN: bci to your epools.txt file) in order to mine BCI.
- Added parameter to enable or disable driver-specific optimizations on Nvidia GPUs. Use -nvdo 1 (the default is 0) to enable the optimizations. This won’t change hashrate (or will change it only slightly) but can make the cards more stable depending on the concrete Nvidia driver.
- Added support for EthereumStratum/2.0.0 protocol (use -proto 5 if the pool requires it).
- AMD hardware control code was rewritten, now should be more stable and work on older cards too
- Added command-line option -fcm to set the way fans are controlled (AMD/Windows only). The possible values are 0 (auto; the default behavior), 1 (use VBIOS/driver), 2 (force custom control of the fans regardless of VBIOS/drivers fan curves, etc). Use -fcm 2 if the fans are not controlled properly or at all
- Added support for Radeon VII
- Added support for Windows AMD drivers 19.3.3
- Increased the maximum supported DAG epoch to 329. This should be fine for at least a year or so.
- Added support for direct mining without DAG switching of Yocoin (YOC), Bitcoiin2Gen (B2G), Ethersocial (ESN), Atheios (ATH), and REOSC. See the -coin parameter in Readme.txt for more information.
- Fixed the slower DAG generation on Vega and Radeon VII GPUs
- Fixed the problem with the watchdog timer when solo mining
- Other small improvements and fixes.

- Full support for setting clocks, fan speeds, voltages, and memory timings of AMD RX6900/6800/6700 cards
- The specific hashrate is now shown in the form of kilo hashes per joule (kH/J). Example: if a GPU has hashrate of 30 MH/s with 100W power usage, the specific hashrate is 300 kH/J
- Added new command-line parameters -ttj and -ttmem , allowing automatic fan speed control based on GPU hotspot (junction), and memory temperatures respectively. Example: -ttmem 83 will keep the GPU memory temperature at or bellow 83C by increasing the fan speed as necessary. These parameters can be combined with -tt , as well as with each other. These options are supported only on AMD GPUs that report junction and memory temperatures
- Added new command-line parameters -tmaxj and -tmaxmem , allowing to decrease the GPU usage when the GPU hotspot (junction), or GPU memory temperatures are above the specified thresholds. These options are supported only on AMD GPUs that report junction and memory temperatures
- Added support for AMD Windows drivers 21.3.2, and 21.3.1
- Added support for AMD Linux drivers 20.50.x. Use this drivers only if you have Polaris or older GPUs, or the latest RX6x000 GPUs. WARNING: Vega, Radeon VII, and Navi GPUs won’t work with these drivers!
- Turn off the zero fan feature on AMD cards whenever a fixed fan speed is used (e.g. -tt -40 ), or when an auto fan with min fan speed is used (e.g. -tt 63 -minfan 35 ). To disable this feature, add -fanstop 1 command-line parameter
- When -mcdag 1 is specified under Linux, the miner will not wait for the daggen.sh script to finish before starting to generate the DAGs. Instead it will for a fixed 7 seconds. This allows you to do all the following in the daggen.sh: turn off the overclocking of Nvidia GPUs, sleep for 30-60 seconds to allow time for DAG generation, and then re-apply the overclocking of the Nvidia GPUs
- Other small improvements and fixes
The support for -ttj , -ttmem , -tmaxj , and -tmaxmem for Nvidia 3090 and 3080 GPUs is not yet ready for release. We hope to have it ready for the final 5.6 release.
