Playback Controls
MIDIPlayer X let’s you rewind and fast forward through your MIDI file. You can step through measure by measure or quickly jump to any location in the file with a simple mouse click. The counter provides a precise reference point, either bar : beat or min : sec, for location within your song.

AutoPlay
Flexible AutoPlay modes let you control if a file begins playback immediately when it is selected or waits for you to press play; repeats the selected file continuously; or automatically moves to the next file when the current file ends.

Editing Features
With MIDIPlayer X, you can change the playback tempo, plus mute or solo individuals channels within a MIDI file. After making any changes, you can save a new MIDI file with your edits. The next time you load your new file into MIDIPlayer X, your desired tempo and track mutes will load as you saved them.

Made for your Mac
MIDIPlayer X works with virtually all commercial MIDI hardware and software. It will auto-locate all available MIDI outputs, both hardware and virtual, so you can select your desired sound source. Easily switch playback between an external keyboard or sound module, or to other software instruments and apps inside your Mac.

MIDIPlayer X includes its own software synth using Apple’s CoreAudio technology. So even if you have no other MIDI hardware or software available on your Mac, you’ll always have a 16-part multitimbral, GM-compatible synth available.

Drag and Drop Simplicity
Simpy drag a file, a few files, a folder, or even multiple folders, from the Finder and drop them on to MIDIPlayer X. MIDIPlayer X will remember your last MIDI destination, and can automatically start playback eliminating extra clicks or keystrokes. Better than Quicktime

I was trying to play some mp4 format tutorial videos that I had downloaded from the web, but the video was not smooth (kind of jittered) and the audio would fade out every few seconds with I having to pause and then play. I was ok with the video but needed the audio to work fine. Before losing hopes on it completely, I randomly thought of trying out an MP4 player and tried this one from the app store (for no other specific reason). I’m glad I did! Both the audio and video started working perfectly. Plus this app also has a very minimal design (very much like Quicktime)

Does what I want it to, but.

. it caused my MacBook Air to freeze up. I guess there’s a first time for everything. My 2014 MBA hasn’t frozen up until today. I opened App Store to look for some crossword games, and looked at the reviews for one. When I tried to expand one, everything froze. I tried all of the standard remedies: Command-Q, Command-Option-Esc, holding down the power button and clicking Shut down when prompted. nothing workked. until a few minutes had passed, then a dialogue box appeared, asking me to rate MX Player. This box didn’t look like MacOS. I closed it, and everything unfroze. I restarted my Mac—and here I am. I installed MX because I wanted something that would open old .wmv files without having to convert them. It does that. But I find the prompts to rate your app annoying. And in this case, I would rate it as more than just annoying.

Support Unavailable — Cannot Control TV Playback

MKPlayer was purchased to allow us to stream files to an LG TV. Being able to test the app was a nice feature before comitting to purchase. The app was purchased once we coudl sucessfully steam to the TV.

It appears this is using the Miracast feature, similat to AirPlay, to acomplish this.

Once we started streaming the move we learned 2 flaws.

1. I am unable to move backward or forward in the file being played. This does not work within the app on the computer nor does it work using the remote or on-screen controls on the TV. Inability to fast forward or rewind is a huge omission and it should be noted by the company before they allow th app to be purchased.

2. The second problem is that you cannot contac the comapny for support. Using the Support, Help or Report a Problem choices in the app takes you to the same FAW page on their site. The FAQ directs you to use the in-app options for support if the FAQ cannot answer your question. This is cruel joke to play on a inflexbile dude who just need to get a yoga video cued to the right spot so his girlfiend can laugh at him.

The app business model of selling half baked programs, preventing access to actual support and hiding it all behind the impersonal app store is a complete crock. We all desereve better.

Thanks for mentioning that you could successfully stream videos to your LG TV. We’re constantly working on improving the app based on feedback and suggestions.
1. The app uses AirPlay and UPNP protocol to stream videos to the built in player of your TV. Jump back and forward is implemented by the app and it works for several video formats and Smart TVs. If the player of the TV does not allow the seeking for our player, there is nothing we can do. Besides we’ll double-check our implementation.
2. We’ve decided to recommend «Report Problem» menu item within our app for contacting us, because it can send us advanced information about the current media file. It helps our support work a lot. Feel free to use the menu, so we can have further discussion.

With version 2.0 we have added a number of great new features to our Display Menu software! From the large collection of emails we have received from you over the last year, we have distilled the three most wanted and, hopefully, most useful bits of added functionality and implemented them. Works great with 1x4K 2xHD Monitors with LandingZone Dock

The free version works great with 4 screen, I have a 4K monitors with 2 additional 1080p Monitors, with this software, I can ensure my external 4K running @ 60 Hz, and able to adjust resolution during persentation in just 1 mouse click since most ppl can not see 4k high resolution text during onine presentation time due to video compression over the network. Anyway, I was trying to find an alternative without the need to have the display menu running all time but so far, this is the free and best I use so far. This also works with Landingzone docking station. By the way, the software can be quit or uninstall once you setup the resolution porperly. Plus, since Mac OS able to remember all the monitors resolution and position, so even after quit the software or uninstall this software, MAC OS still able to use the cusome setting, of cause I can no longer update the dispaly setting. Therefore, if you need more memory , just setup the proper screen position and screen solution , follow by select «Quit Display Menu Pro»

This App Saved Me Big $$$ and Time

I was installing a new Mac in an auditorium this weekend to be connected to an existing projector with a 100 foot VGA cable. We have to use a VGA amplifier to get a high quality signal. That amplifier prevented the Mac Mini from seeing the projector resolution info. My only choice was to use a 1280 x 1024 resolution that was the wrong aspect ratio. I was wondering If I needed to install a new cable, or use a different projector. With no time or money to do either, I tried this $2 app. It worked flawlessly! Just a click from the menu bar I can set the resolution to whatever I want it to be. I cannot imagine what I would have had to do without this app. I bought another copy for my personal Mac. I will do all by display res switching from this little app from now on.

I purchased the pro version. If you need this app, it is well worth $2. I did not try using just the free version.

I rated it 5 starts. I would have given it 10 stars if I could have. Thank you the developers for a great little app that just works!

Five Stars Free, Five Stars PRO

This is *just* what the doctor ordered. I need to take non-Retina screenshots on my MBP (scaling won’t do), and the free version of this enabled the full resolution without a fuss, and I didn’t even have to disable System Integrity Protection!

I almost instantly upgraded to the Pro version, mostly because without it you can’t use the menu to go back to the “native” Retina resolutions offered by Mac OS X, although you can go back to it in display preferences. This is a little unclear in the documentation, but shouldn’t be a deal killer for you if you’re contemplating the free version. However as an app developer myself, I need to go back and forth all the time and so the upgrade was worth it.

Actually the upgrade offers bookmarks, too. Now I’ve got the two resolutions I most need: native from non-Retina screenshots, and and my preferred “More Space” Retina resolution.

I’ve not tried the AppleScript yet, but assuming it works I won’t come back and deduct a star. Trying this feature actually kind of excites me because I use AppleScript within my own apps to take the screenshots, and so switching resolution in my existing screenshot script is just another added bonus.

I’m REALLY glad I found this app. No more having to VPN into one of my Mac minis in order to take non-Retina screen shots.
