Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

I suggest you to follow the methods and check if it helps.

Method 1: Check the status of Windows Installer Services

a) Press Windows key + R and type services.msc in the search field and press ENTER.

b) Scroll down and find the Windows Installer. Double-click “Windows Installer” in the Services list.

c) Ensure that the Windows Installer service is running.

d) Right-click Windows Installer, and then click Start. If Start is unavailable and the Stop and Restart options are available, this tells you that the service is already started.

Method 2:

Step1: If you have any third party security software installed on your computer I would suggest you to disable security software temporarily and perform a clean boot and check if it helps.

Please contact the manufacturer of the security software to disable it.

Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you shouldn’t disable your antivirus software. If you have to temporarily disable it to install other software, you should re-enable it as soon as you’re done. If you’re connected to the Internet or a network while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

Step2: Place the computer on Clean Boot and check if it helps:

Note: After troubleshooting, reset the computer to start as usual. Refer step 3

Hope this information helps you.

Please revert for any clarification on this or any Windows issues. We will be glad to assist you.

Resolve Error 0x80073701, Error 0x800f0a136, or Error 0x800f0826

Use the Microsoft System Update Readiness Tool

The System Update Readiness Tool can help fix problems that might prevent Windows updates and service packs from installing. For example, an update might not install if a damaged system file prevents the update from recognizing the version of Windows that’s running on your computer. If your computer is having problems installing an update or a service pack, download and install the tool, which runs automatically. Then, try installing the update or service pack again.

Go to the What is the System Update Readiness Tool? article, and then follow the instructions to download and install the Microsoft System Update Readiness Tool for your version of Windows.

After the installation completes, click Start, type cmd in the search box, and then click cmd in the Programs list.

At the command prompt, type sfc/scannow, press ENTER, and then wait for the process to finish.

Restart the System Update Readiness Tool to make sure that there are no more error logs. To do this, type sfc/scannow, press ENTER, and then wait for the process to finish.

Getting error 8007064c when installing Windows Live Mail

I have been install all the available Windows 7 updates via Windows Update, and one of them was Windows Live Essentials. Even though I had it installed (specifically Windows Live Mail), I thought it would be better to have installed from Windows Update, so I uninstalled Essentials first (or so I thought), and then I checked the update in Windows Update and started the download and installation process.

Every update installed just fine, and then the turn came to Windows Live Essentials. Everything went along fine, until it came to about 98 %, then I got an error screen with the code 0x8007064C and source:crt110-i386 (sometimes it said amd64 instead). I rebooted my laptop and then installed the new updates that were available, including Windows Live Essentials. Sometimes it was the 2011 version, sometimes 2012, but each time it would not install. Eventually, after I had installed most updates, including SP1, it disappeared completely from Windows Update.

I still needed to use Windows Live Mail, so I decided to download it off the website instead. That gave me exactly the same result. So I check Programs and Features and found that Windows Live Essentials was listed. I figured that meant I hadn’t uninstalled it, at least not cleanly, so I downloaded the Program Install and Uninstall troubleshooter, ran it several times and uninstalled every single Windows Live item in the list, there were about 15-20 or so. After having done that and rebooting just to be safe, I then tried installing Essentials again but got the same result.

I have tried both using the offline and online installer, same result. I have tried using the US English and UK English (as I believe the one I first had was in US English, but I have UK English as the language of choice on my laptop and prefer it, so chose that when I saw there was an option for it), and got the same result.

I have tried absolutely everything I can possibly think of. I have even tried installing a different program, Writer in this case, which I have never before had installed on this laptop, but still got the same result. And I then noticed that Essentials actually DOES get installed, just not properly, as it is listed in Programs and Features, after I ran the troubleshooter to remove all traces and then tried installing it again. But there are none of the programs installed, and if I try to repair it, it ends up uninstalling itself instead, removing itself from Programs and Features. And at no point have I had any shortcuts in the Start menu for any of the programs.

So I am quite literally at wits end. I have googled for hours, trying everything I could find, but I haven’t found anything with the combination of crc110-i386 AND 0x8007064C, only the seperate items. So I’m REALLY hoping someone here can help me out, so I can finally get Windows Live Mail back on my computer.
