Windows 10 Windows 10 is a major version of the Microsoft Windows operating system that was released on July 29, 2015. It is built on the Windows NT kernel and follows Windows 8.

System Requirements Processor: 1 GHz or faster processor or SoC (system on a chip). 64-bit versions of Windows 10 require a processor that supports CMPXCHG16b, PrefetchW , and LAHF/SAHF capabilities. RAM: 1 GB for 32-bit or 2 GB for 64-bit Hard disk space: 16 GB for 32-bit or 20 GB for 64-bit Graphics: DirectX 9 or later with WDDM 1.0 driver. Some games and apps might require DirectX 10 or higher for optimal performance. Display: 1024 x 600. The number of applications that can be snapped depends upon the minimum resolution for each application.

Where is 9? Part of the reason Microsoft decided to name the 2015 release «Windows 10» (and skipped «Windows 9») is because the operating system is designed to be a new direction for Microsoft.

Differences One of the primary aims of Windows 10 is to unify the Windows experience across multiple devices, such desktop computers, tablets, and smartphones .

As part of this effort, Microsoft developed Windows 10 Mobile alongside Windows 10 to replaces Windows Phone – Microsoft’s previous mobile OS.

Windows 10 also integrates other Microsoft services, such as Xbox Live and the Cortana voice recognition assistant.

While Windows 10 includes many new features, it also brings back the Start Menu, which was dropped in Windows 8. The new and improved Start Menu provides quick access to settings, folders, and programs and also includes tiles from the Windows 8 interface. The bottom of the Windows 10 Start Menu includes a search bar that allows you to search both your local PC and the web.

Another major change in Windows 10 is the introduction of the «Edge» web browser, which is designed to replace Internet Explorer (IE). While the OS still includes IE, Edge is the default browser in Windows 10.

Windows 10 upgrade is available for free to Windows 7 and Windows 8 users. However, Microsoft still charges a licensing fee for copies of Windows 10 shipped with new computers and for non-upgrade purchases.

Some of the biggest benefits: Apps in the new Windows Store will run on any device; Microsoft’s ‘Continuum’ feature allows you to potentially connect a phone or tablet to a monitor and keyboard and use it like a PC; Windows 10 brings with it DirectX 12. (Initial reports suggested DX12 would bring a 30-40% performance gain over DX11); Windows 10 Microsoft now delivers security patches outside Windows Update so they go straight to your computer the moment they are available. In theory this means Windows 10 computers are always up-to-date which gives hackers a much harder time, even if there are also some notable downsides;

Main disadvantages: Stability: Windows 10 is new brand and it has launched with a surprisingly large number of bugs which you won’t find in Windows 7 or Windows 8; Mandatory Updates; Internet Broadband use: Windows 10’s mandatory update policy means more increased data usage;

The full version of Windows 10 Home is available for $119 and Windows 10 Pro costs $199.

Бесплатное Обновление до Windows 10

Хорошей новостью стало то, что обновление до Windows 10 будет бесплатным в течение одного года для всех пользователей Windows 7, Windows 8.1 и Windows Phone 8.1. 84-дюймовый сенсорный моноблок с разрешением 4К. В нем интегрированы камеры, микрофоны и другие сенсоры и датчики. Это устройство, которое ориентировано исключительно на бизнес-пользователей для совместной удаленной работы с сотрудниками. Здесь используется также Windows 10, однако адаптированная для огромных дисплеев и со специализированным ПО, которое позволит повысить продуктивность. Стоимость Microsoft не объявила, однако этот гаджет явно будет стоить очень дорого.

Microsoft HoloLens

Софтверный гигант также продемонстрировал необычные очки HoloLens, которые позволяют погрузиться в дополненную реальность. Причем используется и звуковая система, так что необязательно смотреть на объект и видеть его перед собой, например, когда мы находимся спиной к объекту. Отсутствие картинки будет дополнено звуком. Этот гаджет автономный, для обработки необходимой информации используется принципиально новый процессор — HPU (Holographic Processing Unit). Идея гаджета в том, чтобы упростить работу профессионального рынка за счет наглядности работ и проектов.

В новую версию Windows 10 было добавлено большое количество жестов для удобного взаимодействия с системой в планшетном отображении, при этом даже на маленьком планшете (на презентации использоваться 8-дюймовый девайс) Microsoft не обязывает своих пользователей работать исключительно в этом режиме, переключение на полноценный рабочий стол также возможно.

Неоднократно Джо Бельфиоре отмечал, что все приложения одинаково выглядят на всех девайсах, а полноценная интеграция OneDrive обеспечивает постоянную синхронизацию всех данных между всеми гаджетами под управлением Windows 10.

В компании возлагают большие надежды на новую версию системы, которая должна появиться к концу 2015 года. How to switch to Presentation Mode in Windows 10

Microsoft Powerpoint is one of the most powerful tools when it comes to Office Suites. Powerpoint has been the one of the most preferred presentation application from more than a decade.

I have personally used the Powerpoint when I worked earlier at a consulting firm and one of the glaring issues was the email notifications/alerts during ongoing presentations. Yet another issue is the screen saver turning on after a few minutes.

What is Windows Presentation Settings?

Unknown to most of us Microsoft has already pondered about the issue and the best part is that they have a feature to make it happen.

The Presentation mode works similar to the DND mode on your smartphone. With the Presentation Mode switched on the Windows will automatically mute all the alerts and the notifications.

Interestingly, the Presentation Settings was introduced with Windows Vista but it has been missing on some of the Windows 10 Versions, for instance, the Presentation Mode is missing from Windows 10 Home Edition.

How to Activate/Turn On Windows Presentation Mode

When the Windows Presentation mode is turned on the laptop doesn’t go to sleep and all the system notifications are turned off temporarily.

• Go to Windows Mobility Center and look out for the “Presentation Settings.”
• In the Settings tile click on the “Turn On” button. This will activate the Presentation Settings

Additionally one can also create a desktop shortcut for the same by using the following path name, “C:WindowsSystem32PresentationSettings.exe”. Alternatively, you can also use the presentationsettings/start and presentationsettings/stop to toggle the settings.

Yet another easy way to access Presentation Settings is by going to the Search Bar and searching for the following terms “Adjust settings before giving a presentation.” The Presentation Settings can also be changed from here by toggling it on/off.

Turn on Airplane Mode

Well, this method comes with some limitations but it works nevertheless. If you are certain of not using the internet during the presentation simply Switch on the “Airplane Mode.”

This will ensure that the notifications don’t disturb your presentation. However, this method is not useful against the Windows screen saver which will still appear after a certain period of inactivity.
