Atheros AR9285 Wireless in Linux Lite
This wireless card is not recognized in Linux Lite.
Is someone willing to walk me through the steps of executing these instructions? I am brand new to linux.
Any help would be appreciated!
Re: Atheros AR9285 Wireless in Linux Lite
since you are new to linux, i recommend this, instaed your offer
open a terminal, and copy/paste the 3 lines , one by one, into the terminal
so first line one, followed by enter, line 2 , followed by enter
Re: Atheros AR9285 Wireless in Linux Lite
I input the three lines and did a reboot. Doesn’t seem to have any effect, anything else I should do after?
Re: Atheros AR9285 Wireless in Linux Lite
Please follow the «Wireless Script» link in my signature, download and run the script as per instructions there, and post back the report it generates.
While posting the outputs, please use ‘Code‘ tags. It preserves the output’s formatting and makes the post cleaner, compact and more readable. To see a quick ‘HowTo’ with screenshots, please follow the «Using Code Tags» link in my signature.
Re: Atheros AR9285 Wireless in Linux Lite
Here is the report it generated for me:
Re: Atheros AR9285 Wireless in Linux Lite
As you can see above, your wireless is both hard and soft blocked. Means it is turned off by both hardware switch and by your Network Manager.
Please turn it on Physically by Fn+F2 key combination, which I assume is the combination to turn WiFi on/of for all Asus models. If that combination does not seem to work, please check out the suggestions in this thread to verify if you have the same bug : http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2181558
Check the block state with «rfkill list» command. Make sure both hard and soft block states are «no». If the hardblock is gone, but the soft block still remains, please make sure that «Enable Wireless» option in Network Manager menu is enabled (has a tick mark beside it). If it is already enabled, and still the interface appears as soft-blocked, please try —
Try these, and let us know the result.

Wireless works when system first starts. Cuts off after a few minutes and will not reconnect until system is restarted.
I have read and tried everything I have found on this site as well as several other sites. I can’t seem to find a solution
to this issue.
Any help with this will be greatly appreciated, and I thank you all in advance.
Here is my info:

$ nmcli r wifi отключен andrey@andrey-Lenovo-YOGA-910-13IKB:
$ nmcli r wifi on andrey@andrey-Lenovo-YOGA-910-13IKB:
А rfkill unblock all?
А вот результат rfkill list: 0: ideapad_wlan: Wireless LAN Soft blocked: no Hard blocked: yes 1: ideapad_bluetooth: Bluetooth Soft blocked: yes Hard blocked: yes 2: hci0: Bluetooth Soft blocked: yes Hard blocked: no 3: phy0: Wireless LAN Soft blocked: no Hard blocked: no

This driver is included in the mainline Linux kernel since 2.6.27. It is present in Debian kernel images since 2.6.28.

Atheros 802.11n PCI/PCI-E devices (ath9k)
This page describes how to enable support for WiFi devices based on Atheros 802.11n PCI/PCI-E chips, using the ath9k driver on Debian systems.
ath9k is a Linux kernel driver supporting Atheros 802.11n PCI/PCI-E chips, introduced at Linux 2.6.27. Supported devices are listed at the end of this page.
It does not require a binary HAL (hardware abstraction layer) and no firmware is required to be loaded from userspace.
Atheros 802.11n USB devices are supported by the ath9k_htc and carl9170 drivers.
Atheros 802.11a/bg PCI/PCI-E devices are supported by the ath5k driver.
Installation
Connect the device to your system. The ath9k kernel module is automatically loaded for supported devices.
Configure your wireless interface as appropriate.
Supported Devices
The page HowToIdentifyADevice/PCI explains how to identify a PCI device.
The following list is based on the alias fields of modinfo ath9k in Debian 3.16 (3.16.7-ckt9-3
