RTL8822x Firmware for GNU/Linux
The files in this repository are taken from Linux Mint 19.3 and will allow a Realtek RTL8822 b or c card to work on other distributions.
If you have trust issues, you can always boot with Mint 19.3 and take the files from there to use.
Log in with your favorite distribution, preferably with a new Kernel, as this has only been tested with 5.4+ Unload non-working modules from the Kernel, with:
You can run lsmod to see if they are named somehow differently in your OS, in case you do not run Debian.
Copy the files from this repo to your system, change the kernel path as needed! Load the modules with modprobe rtw88 and the WiFi should work.
It is unclear to me whether the /usr files are needed or if everything will work with just the files under /lib . Feel free to open an issue about this.
Did you rename the paths to work with with your current Kernel?
Usage on Debian Installer
Either on the graphical, text or live installer, open a terminal and do the above procedure before the installer checks for WiFi cards. The resulting installation will work out of the box and you do not need to copy the files again.

The following issues are not related to the network card, but to the AMD CPU/GPU. Since these two are commonly found together, I document the fixes here.
If you have issues with the installer not starting use a newer Kernel. The ISO files listed above are fine as are the STABLE ones from Debian.
If you have glitches with your screen (artifacts) disable compositing.

Realtek RTL8811CU/RTL8821CU USB wifi adapter driver version 5.4.1 for Linux 4.4.x up to 5.x
Before build this driver make sure make , gcc , linux-header / kernel-devel , bc and git have been installed.
First, clone this repository
Check the name of the interface
Check the interface name of your wifi adapter using ifconfig . Usually, it will be wlan0 by default, but it may vary depends on the kernel and your device. On Ubuntu, for example, it may be named as wlx + MAC address. (https://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/systemd/PredictableNetworkInterfaceNames/)
If this is the case, you can either disable the feature following the link above, or replace the name used in the driver by
Build and install with DKMS
DKMS is a system which will automatically recompile and install a kernel module when a new kernel gets installed or updated. To make use of DKMS, install the dkms package.
To make use of the DKMS feature with this project, just run:
If you later on want to remove it, run:
Plug your USB-wifi-adapter into your PC
If wifi can be detected, congratulations. If not, maybe you need to switch your device usb mode by the following steps in terminal:
- find your usb-wifi-adapter device ID, like «0bda:1a2b», by type:
- switch the mode by type: (the device ID must be yours.)
Need install usb_modeswitch (Archlinux: sudo pacman -S usb_modeswitch )
Make it permanent
If steps above worked fine and in order to avoid periodically having to make usb_modeswitch you can make it permanent (Working in Ubuntu 18.04 LTS):

Checking installed driver
If you successfully install the driver, the driver is installed on /lib/modules/
/kernel/drivers/net/wireless/realtek/rtl8821cu . Check the driver with the ls command:
Make sure 8821cu.ko file present on that directory
Check with DKMS (if installing via DKMS):
sudo dkms status
ARM architecture tweak for this driver (this solves compilation problem of this driver):

I haven’t verified power consumption on linux > 4.19 but there seems to be some ASPM related change: https://github.com/torvalds/linux/commit/a99790bf5c7f3d68d8b01e015d3212a98ee7bd57
ASPM [1] is disabled for Realtek network chips by default when running linux. This leads to a vast increase in power consumption on certain systems. This patch enables ASPM on some chips to prolong battery life and decrease cpu temperature.
Due to the reported regressions that have been reported for the ASPM patch [2] it had been reverted several years ago. Nevertheless similar modifications on the driver work perfectly on my notebook by now. This repository contains the modificated driver thus ASPM can be enabled by a modprobe option. If there are more people that report it’s running stable a pull request will be sent to linux upstream. On my notebook this module decreased the system power consumption from 13W to 8W, as the cpu was prohibited from entering low package sleep states (PC6/PC7) before.

States with a higher numbers are deeper thus the cores should be in C7s the package (the states that start with a ‘P’) should be in PC6 or higher for more than 50%. PC7 is only used when display is turned off.

PC6 and higher isn’t used at all even when all cores are at a deep sleep state.
To narrow the problems that prevent the cpu from sleeping you can run
To check if there are pcie devices that don’t use ASPM. If it’s only the realtek network card please use this driver to check if the problem is solved then.
You can’t enable ASPM. The only thing you can do is NOT DISABLE it. That means, if the wrong driver, or the driver with wrong options was loaded once a COLD reboot has to be done to reset the pci device and to be able to use ASPM again. Only loading the other module won’t work as less as only a warm reboot sudo reboot .
Why don’t we use r8168
This driver, provided by Realtek itself, worked for me to prevent the ASPM bug. Nevertheless there had been system freezes quite regularly (every 30 seconds for about 2 seconds) thus this module was unusable for me.

Realtek R8101 linux driver source
This is the official linux driver source for Realtek RTL8101E/RTL8102E/RTL8103E/RTL8105E/RTL8106E/RTL8107E FE 100M NICs, obtained from here. Tested on Ubuntu 20.04 in my Dell Inspiron 1440 laptop, ethernet works flawlessly with a speed of 95 Mbps upload and download.
Since Ubuntu 18 these NICs are being used with the default r8169 driver (which is for the R8169 gigabit ethernet controller only), which causes terrible download and upload speeds. Installing the official driver for 810xE series fixes it.

NOTE: I upgraded to another laptop few months ago so I’m no longer maintaining this repo.
How to install this driver?
- First of all, clone this repo to some folder and cd into that folder
- Install basic dependencies for compiling the driver: sudo apt install build-essential linux-headers-$(uname -r)
- Unload the existing r8169 driver: sudo modprobe -r r8169
- Block the r8169 driver in modprobe: sudo sh -c ‘echo blacklist r8169 >> /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf’
- Run the automatic build & install script: sudo ./autorun.sh . Ignore errors if any.
- Check if the driver is loaded: lsmod | grep r8101 , it will return a single line like r8101 204800 0
- If the driver is not loaded, then run sudo modprobe r8101 .
- Now try connecting. If you don’t see the connection then you might need a reboot.
- Enjoy ethernet speeds upto 100Mbps!

/r8101, the link status can be forced to one of the 4 modes as following command. # insmod ./src/r8101.ko speed=SPEED_MODE duplex=DUPLEX_MODE autoneg=NWAY_OPTION where SPEED_MODE = 100 for 100Mbps = 10 for 10Mbps DUPLEX_MODE = 0 for half-duplex = 1 for full-duplex NWAY_OPTION = 0 for auto-negotiation off (true force) = 1 for auto-negotiation on (nway force) For example: # insmod ./src/r8101.ko speed=100 duplex=0 autoneg=1 will force PHY to operate in 100Mpbs Half-duplex(nway force). 2. Force the link status by using ethtool. a. Insert the driver first. b. Make sure that ethtool exists in /sbin. c. А что, «из коробки» звук не работет?
он работает но плохо, 2 приложения не может использовать, сейчас я слушал музыку и включил программу «Rakarrack» и звук упал( а когда в игры играю я слышу как звук плачет(
я даже не знаю где это находится)
Особого смысла обновлять нет, там в архиве тот же alsa driver, что используется сейчас, вот выдержка из readme:
Можете попробовать использовать pulseaudio.
Ну а по поводу описанных вами проблем, так это надо просить инженеров Realtek, что бы они помогли разработчикам alsa в написании драйверов для их аудио кодеков или написали этот код для alsa сами.
купи нормальную звуковуху, которую мужыканты советуют, пульзаудию снеси напрочь
а зачем удалять ? я посмотрел, она одаляет системные фичи и параметры.
Если ты ее не трогал, похоже она падает. Можно попробовать найти гайд по отключению PulseAudio, если не поможет, значит альса виновата.

Покупать другую карту. Или пробовать ставить новое ядро в вашем дистрибутиве.

К этим дровам ещё нужно Pulseaudio, qpaeq. Ещё VLC с настроенным параметрическим эквалайзером. Тогда офигенный звук.
Чип ALC888S хорошая вещь, но ещё нужна и акустика вроде Defender Mercury 55 MkII.
Если есть всё выше описанное, то из всех плейеров самый лучший звук только в плейере VLC через чип ALC888S. Настройки в VLC нужно сбросить vlc —reset-config и настроить только аудио-фильтры галочки перенаправитель каналов, эффект виртуального объёма в наушниках, фильтр управления усилением, параметрический эквалайзер (20 15 20000 15 60 12,50 100 1000 -15 100 8000 12,50 100), нормализация громкости. qpaeq сделать от середины вниз улыбку. В итоге получится жирный бас и чистые высокие
Правда фирменные дрова от Realtek, в некоторых системах слетают при обновлении ядра Linux в системе. Просто нужно повторить в терминале суперпользователя:
