Remove screen from windows

How do you delete a Duplicate Display in Screen Resolution?

I have a laptop running Windows 7 with an external monitor connected to it. My laptop has a resolution of 1920×1080, while my external monitor has a resolution of 1920×1200. Originally I had my external monitor hooked through my docking station, but I have since decided to connect my external monitor to the HDMI port on my laptop. When I did this, in the Screen Resolution Control Panel, I now have 3 displays! The 3rd display is currently DISABLED. But when I decide to have both screens active, I cannot do this each with their native resolution with 3rd display present — even if this were not true, I still would desire to have that «3rd Display» deleted.

As such, I have 2 questions:

1. How do I «delete» the 3rd duplicate display from Screen Resolution? I have tried Deleting the duplicate «Generic PNP» driver from the Device Manager Control Planel. This did not work. I subsequently tried to Disable it — this didn’t work either.

2. Is it possible that when I disconnect the HDMI cable from my laptop (as when I want to take my laptop somewhere) that the native laptop display activates automatically? I would prefer NOT to have my laptop display be active at all when I am using my monitor (as they are different resolutions), but to have it become active when I disconnect the HDMI cable, so in case I forget to transfer the display to the laptop from my external monitor when I take the laptop with me, I don’t have a very expensive brick with an inactive screen.

How to remove (uninstall) a screensaver

Whether you are tired of a screensaver, need to clear some disk space, or want to tidy up your list of screensavers, there will come a time when you want to remove a screensaver from your computer. Instructions for removal differ for each version of Windows.

Your web browser tells us your operating system is Windows 8.

On Windows, there are several ways to uninstall a screensaver, three of which are described generally below. For detailed instructions with screenshots, please click the link corresponding to your Windows version in the list above.

Option 1: Use the «Uninstall a program» panel

All versions of Windows come with a built-in interface to easily remove software programs, including screensavers, from your computer. This is the cleanest way to uninstall a program, and we recommend you try this method before resorting to manual removal (option 3). For instructions, please select your Windows version in the list of links above.

Option 2: Find the Start Menu folder

When screensavers are installed via a setup wizard (installation program), a Start menu folder is sometimes created, providing shortcuts to run, configure and/or uninstall the screensaver. You can use the «Uninstall» shortcut to launch the same uninstallation program that runs when you uninstall via the method described in option 1 above.

On Windows XP, Vista and 7, you can find these folders by clicking the Start menu button at the bottom left of your screen, and then clicking the «All Programs» link. You will be shown a list of folders for various installed programs. If a folder for your screensaver exists, click to open it, then click the «Uninstall» link (if available) to launch the uninstaller.

Option 3: Manually remove the screensaver file

If you could not uninstall the screensaver using the above methods, but you still want to remove it from your list of available screensavers, one last option is to manually remove the screensaver file from your hard drive. This effectively removes it from the Screen Saver Settings panel. However, some files (images, settings, dependencies, etc.) may be left behind, cluttering your hard drive with unnecessary files, but this is generally harmless.

Manual removal of a screensaver involves locating the screensaver file in your Windows folder, or in the «system32» and/or «SysWOW64» sub-folders, and then deleting it. This is usually done via the Explorer, which allows you to view and manage files on your hard drive.

Instructions for manually removing a screensaver file from your computer are provided in individual articles per Windows version, linked at the top of this page.

How To Remove Window Screens – From The Outside

Window screens are used to cover opening of windows and a lot of us use one but they, like other things in our life, need changing and that task can be quite tricky. Even though we are asked to remove our window screens in advance, we never do so till it is too late.

The important thing to keep in mind is how to remove a window screen without doing any damage to the window itself.

How To Remove Window Screens?

Tools To Remove Screen From Window:

Craftsman 9-47137 Slotted Screwdriver Set, 5 Piece

Materials

In order to remove screen from window , use

  • A putty knife or a flat screwdriver to remove the old screen splint from the frame. If there is any debris or dirt in the channel, clear it out well before continuing to work.
  • Make sure that the screen material is at least 2-inches wider than the frame itself. Use a utility knife to trim the length, again leaving 2 inches excess at each end of the frame.
  • Now roll the screen all the way over the frame and pull the screen tightly over it.
  • The screen roller will have two wheels at each end: a concave wheel that has an inward groove on the edge, and a convex one that has a rounded edge.
With the help of the convex wheel, roll the tool over the screen so that it gets pushed into the channel of the frame.
  • Take the new screen splint and use the concave wheel on the screen roller to push the splint into the channel of the frame, fitting over the screen.
  • Make sure the splint is pushed in all the way so that the screen does not pop off. Once the screen and splint are placed, trim off the excess screen material and you are all set to go.

The thing that you should note here is that the actual way of removing window screens is from the inside; that is the method recommended by most manufactures.

Pull tabs are provided for window screens to be removed from the inside. The method of window screen removal that I am referring to here should only be used as a last resort.

Here Is A Step By Step Instruction On How To Remove Window Screens

  • Your right thumb should be pressed on the lower right hand side of the screen frame and then you can gently push the screen into the recess of the frame. This process will help you to lower the hidden half moon shaped tension springs of the screen.
  • A gap will thus be created on the left side of the screen. You need to put the fingers of your left hand in this gap created on the left hand side of the screen.

Be careful about how much pressure you are applying to the screens while inserting fingers, if you are not too sure about putting your finger in, you can also do the same with screwdrivers, or other cylindrical
In cases where you do not get enough space, my advice would be to not push things any further as it might damage the window itself.

Sometimes screens also come with finger tabs in the upper left and lower left corners of the of the screen guard. In that case my advice would be that you put your fingers into the screen tab and pull out the lower left corner.

  • Next, you should press the thumb of your right hand on the upper right hand of the screen and gently push screen in to the recess of the frame. Grab the upper left frame with left hand and try removing the screen completely with gentle care.

    • Next, the glass needs to be cleaned with care. Remember it is glass so be careful about the cleaning formula and how you are handling it. After it has been cleaned well, place it back into the window frame.

There is a probability that there will be water in the track of the bottom of the window from cleaning it. You would not want dirty water to splash back on to the clean glass again.

Now it is time for the glass to be put back into the window frame:

    • First you need to lift the screen back up to the glass with the half moon shaped tension springs facing your right and use the pull tabs on the left side.
    • Be careful about to pull the tabs that are facing the glass or else the screen will be inserted inside out. If you do that, you would not be able to remove it next time.
    • Place right side of screen in frame and apply just enough pressure to the right side to lower the tension springs. This will allow the space needed to insert screen’s left side into the framework.

Due to the excess water formed in bottom window track, you should insert top left screen first and follow it by gently placing the lower left side into the frame without splashing any of the water back on to the clean glass.

And there you go! Your window screen frame replacement is done!

The splash back problem can easily be solved by wicking up excess water in track with any good sponge before placing the screen back into the frame.

A Few Final Thoughts And Words

This is a really easy work if you are a little precautious and take a little care. Because you will be using sharp objects, keep children away when you are doing this work.

You will obviously get a lot of professionals to do this work for you but if you are attempting to do this on your own, this instruction should be of good help. Always try to do it from the inside but if things can’t be done that way then take the last resort.

Windows 10 How to remove password from Start screen

After signing in to Microsoft to give feedback I now have to keep signing in with my Microsoft password in order to use my laptop.

In addition, the name for my Admin account is changed and now shows my entire email account address on the start-up screen.

After reading a few post I went to Windows +R, entered -> control userpasswords2 -> OK.

But notice the box is unchecked, that requires a password for users.

What should I do so that only my Name shows as Administrator, and I do not want to have to continually enter a password.

Note: This all happened after I was asked to sign in with an Outlook Account, which I initially did not have.

I can not see myself using outlook but created one as I thought it was part of the feedback process.

Re: “Windows 10 How to remove password from Start screen” http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-start/windows-10-how-to-remove-password-from-start/b8dee9e9-cac7-4558-a421-2c963c5e115b

After having posted the above questions I received an email from Microsoft titled:

“Welcome to Windows 10 Getting Started Series,

Learn about the Get Started app, navigating your device, and support.”

In short, I do not want to know anymore about Windows 10. In my estimation, and after reading endless complaints in the feedback page, the product was launched with many flaws in hopes that end users test-drive it—while providing feedback

that will, no doubt, help Microsoft with a new Windows product.

The download may have been free but the time it has taken many end users to fix issues, related to Windows 10, is not.

So I have to ask again the following.

#1. In Windows 10 “Windows Credentials” is it possible to Edit or Remove the log-in password so that one is not obligated to enter a password every time one opens a computer?

#2. If I revert to Windows 8.1, will the system revert to how it started up before i.e. I did not need to enter a password in order to get onto the start windows screen?

I would appreciate a response that is going to work and not further me any more lose of time

To set an account to automatically logon :

Right Click the Start Button OR use WinKey + X

select Command Prompt (Admin) OR Windows PowerShell (Admin) —
    type in —> control userpasswords2

(OR use WinKey + R = Run Or you can type in —> netplwiz )

All will get you to the same place.

Then uncheck «User must enter a user name and password to use this computer».

More methods & information to use if needed :

Also you probably want to change these :

In Cortana or the Search box type —> Control Panel then «Power Options» OR Start — Settings — System — Power & Sleep — Upper Right «Additional power settings «

«Choose what the power buttons do» OR «Choose what closing the lid does» — Change settings that are currently unavailable — tick Don’t require a password.

Start button — Settings — Personalization — Lock Screen — Scroll down to

Screen Saver Settings — click it — untick «On resume, display logon screen».

    Start button — Settings — Accounts -Sign-in Options — Require Sign-in — set
    to Never.

Alternative login with a pin :

If you are using a Microsoft Account then you have to have a password though
you can use a PIN. (Removing the login also dramatically reduces your Microsoft
    account security).

    Start — Settings — Accounts — Sign-in options — PIN

Or you can change your account type :

Or add another LOCAL account :

Start — Settings — Accounts — Your Account — you can add a Microsoft
Account or a Work or School Account.

OR Same place — Family & other user

    Hope this helps.

This is a reply to all who have attempted to assist me in this matter.

#1. I do not know whether or not I am using a Microsoft Account, all I know is that in signing into Outlook for the first time, ever, I entered my yahoo email.

This action caused two things to happen.

Issue #1a) I now have an App that is titled “People” which when I click on it I see ALL of my contacts that are kept on my Windows phone.

Note : I do not like this because I would think that if my laptop is stolen, anyone who gets access to this app will see my contacts.

Question#1a : I need to know if deleting this app will solve this issue.

Issue #1b) When I turn on the computer the first screen I see has my Name & complete Yahoo email address.

Note: Initial technical support from the company I purchased the computer were able to make it that upon first opening a log-in password was not necessary, however, this has changed and ‘now’ everyone who uses the computer has to enter a password. I don’t know what they did but it worked.

The following do not have “require a password” box clicked

    • Control Panel — Power Options — Require a password on wake-up
    • Start button — Settings — Personalization — Lock Screen — Scroll down to Screen Saver Settings
    • Start button — Settings — Accounts -Sign-in Options — Require Sign-in

Issue #2) I have searched my computer to find where my yahoo email is stored and have found it AND a listed password code in Control Panel -> Credential Manager -> Windows Credentials.

Question #2 : I see an option to Edit or Remove it —but I need to know what is the right thing to do.

Summary : Having to log-in with a password makes me feel that Microsoft is controlling how I use the computer “I” purchased, and “I” do not like this.

As soon as I iron out this issue with the password I intend on turning back the clock, to the former Windows that came installed. I will only reconsider Windows 10 upgrade as July 2016 nears closer.
