How to take and annotate screenshots on Windows 10
Sometimes the easiest way to make a copy of something is to take a snapshot of your screen. While you can already capture your screen using your keyboard’s PrtScn button, you can now press Windows logo key + Shift + S to open the new modern snipping experience (also called the snipping bar), then drag the cursor over the area you want to capture.
Here are some common ways to take and annotate screenshots in Snip & Sketch on Windows 10.
Take a screenshot
Option 1: Using the Snip & Sketch app
Press the Start button and enter Snip & Sketch in the search field.
Press the New button to start snipping with the snipping bar.
The snipping bar allows you to capture the following types of snips:
Rectangular snip. Drag the cursor around an object to form a rectangle.
Free-form snip. Draw a free-form shape around an object.
Full-screen snip. Capture the entire screen.
Once you snip an area of your screen — the snipped image is added to your clipboard and you can paste it immediately in another app. A screen prompt will also allow you to annotate, save or share it using the Snip & Sketch app.
Option 2: With the Print Screen key
While the PrtScn key already captures your full screen and sends it to your clipboard, opening the snipping bar provides you with more snipping tools you can use for precise snipping. For better control of your screen capturing options, you can opt to have your PrtScn key open the new snipping bar instead of having to type Windows logo key + Shift + S.
To turn on the new snipping feature keyboard shortcut Select Start > Settings > Ease of Access > Keyboard
Option 3: With the Window logo key + Shift + S shortcut
Pressing the S key + Windows logo + Shift keys down initiates the snipping bar at any time.

Opening images for editing with Snip & Sketch
To open an image from Snip & Sketch, select Open File or drag and drop an image from apps like File Explorer or Photos in the Snip & Sketch window.
Annotating images with Snip & Sketch
Snip & Sketch provides a few tools for annotating images, namely pen, pencil and highlighter. Once you click a tool to select it, you can click it again to change its color or thickness.
The tools work better with a pen device, but they can also be used with mouse or touch if you select the Touch Writing button icon.
Use the Eraser tool to remove specific strokes or click it twice to get the option to erase all ink.
Use the ruler or protractor tools and draw straight lines or arches.
Press the ruler/protractor button again to hide the ruler/protractor
Reside or rotate the ruler/protractor by using two finger touch gestures (if the Touch Writing button is selected) or with the mouse wheel.
Use the crop tool to crop the annotated image.
To undo cropping, select the crop tool again and press Cancel to restore the image to its full original area.
Panning the view
Some of the images you annotate might be larger than the size of the Snip & Sketch window. You can use the scroll bars to pan the view, but you can also pan the view with touch input (if the Touch Writing button is not selected) or by dragging with your mouse button while holding the Ctrl key down.
Zoom in and out of screenshots to make them easier to mark up using the magnifying glass icon. You can also zoom in and out of screenshots by pressing the Ctrl key down and tapping the + or — buttons.
Sharing and saving snips
Snip & Sketch copies the annotated snip to your clipboard when you open it and every time you make edits. Snip & Sketch allows you to save the annotated image to a file, share it or open with another app, or print it on paper or to a pdf file.
Using keyboard in Snip & Sketch
While annotating is best done using a pen or mouse — Snip & Sketch provides a lot of keyboard shortcuts you can use. Access keys are activated if you press and hold the Alt key.
How To Remove Window Screens – From The Outside
Window screens are used to cover opening of windows and a lot of us use one but they, like other things in our life, need changing and that task can be quite tricky. Even though we are asked to remove our window screens in advance, we never do so till it is too late.
The important thing to keep in mind is how to remove a window screen without doing any damage to the window itself.
How To Remove Window Screens?
Tools To Remove Screen From Window:
Craftsman 9-47137 Slotted Screwdriver Set, 5 Piece
Materials
In order to remove screen from window , use
- A putty knife or a flat screwdriver to remove the old screen splint from the frame. If there is any debris or dirt in the channel, clear it out well before continuing to work.
- Make sure that the screen material is at least 2-inches wider than the frame itself. Use a utility knife to trim the length, again leaving 2 inches excess at each end of the frame.
- Now roll the screen all the way over the frame and pull the screen tightly over it.
- The screen roller will have two wheels at each end: a concave wheel that has an inward groove on the edge, and a convex one that has a rounded edge.
With the help of the convex wheel, roll the tool over the screen so that it gets pushed into the channel of the frame. - Take the new screen splint and use the concave wheel on the screen roller to push the splint into the channel of the frame, fitting over the screen.
- Make sure the splint is pushed in all the way so that the screen does not pop off. Once the screen and splint are placed, trim off the excess screen material and you are all set to go.
The thing that you should note here is that the actual way of removing window screens is from the inside; that is the method recommended by most manufactures.
Pull tabs are provided for window screens to be removed from the inside. The method of window screen removal that I am referring to here should only be used as a last resort.
Here Is A Step By Step Instruction On How To Remove Window Screens
- Your right thumb should be pressed on the lower right hand side of the screen frame and then you can gently push the screen into the recess of the frame. This process will help you to lower the hidden half moon shaped tension springs of the screen.
- A gap will thus be created on the left side of the screen. You need to put the fingers of your left hand in this gap created on the left hand side of the screen.
Be careful about how much pressure you are applying to the screens while inserting fingers, if you are not too sure about putting your finger in, you can also do the same with screwdrivers, or other cylindrical
In cases where you do not get enough space, my advice would be to not push things any further as it might damage the window itself.
Sometimes screens also come with finger tabs in the upper left and lower left corners of the of the screen guard. In that case my advice would be that you put your fingers into the screen tab and pull out the lower left corner.

- Next, the glass needs to be cleaned with care. Remember it is glass so be careful about the cleaning formula and how you are handling it. After it has been cleaned well, place it back into the window frame.
There is a probability that there will be water in the track of the bottom of the window from cleaning it. You would not want dirty water to splash back on to the clean glass again.
Now it is time for the glass to be put back into the window frame:
- First you need to lift the screen back up to the glass with the half moon shaped tension springs facing your right and use the pull tabs on the left side.
- Be careful about to pull the tabs that are facing the glass or else the screen will be inserted inside out. If you do that, you would not be able to remove it next time.
- Place right side of screen in frame and apply just enough pressure to the right side to lower the tension springs. This will allow the space needed to insert screen’s left side into the framework.
Due to the excess water formed in bottom window track, you should insert top left screen first and follow it by gently placing the lower left side into the frame without splashing any of the water back on to the clean glass.

And there you go! Your window screen frame replacement is done!
The splash back problem can easily be solved by wicking up excess water in track with any good sponge before placing the screen back into the frame.
A Few Final Thoughts And Words
This is a really easy work if you are a little precautious and take a little care. Because you will be using sharp objects, keep children away when you are doing this work.
You will obviously get a lot of professionals to do this work for you but if you are attempting to do this on your own, this instruction should be of good help. Always try to do it from the inside but if things can’t be done that way then take the last resort.

We cannot remove date and time from Windows lock screen, it is by design.
Whilst your reply points out that this is not possible, I would expect this setting to be optional and not forced upon us. I, and many others, await the update that gives us, the end users, the option to disable this if we wish. It cannot come soon enough.
Maybe we don’t all like the design. I have a watch that tells me the time, I don’t necessarily need it in giant numbers in front of me aswell.

Just to save your readers a little time, you’re wasting your time at Microsoft Accessibility Feedback, as I think Melowin Mar should have been aware. The idea has already been shut down there, and you will be advised that you actually have to use Windows 10 FeedBack Hub, which is an application you have to install, apparently, in order to provide MS with feedback. They want you to install an ap to give feedback. That is a bit on the ridiculous side in my opinion. If you don’t care what the customer wants or thinks, it would be nice if you’d just say so, instead of setting up one hoop after another to jump through, and then just ignore customer opinions anyway.
Just how much trouble is it really to install one switch that lets a user turn the clock off on the lock screen? Would it completely disable the kernel to do that?
