Yes! You can upgrade to Renamer 6 for a discount if you own a license for Renamer 5.

If you purchased Renamer 5 after January 1st, 2019 you’re entitled to a free upgrade. Please contact us with your Renamer 5 serial number and we’ll send you your Renamer 6 serial number.

The two versions offer the same features. The only difference is that the Mac App Store version will ask for permission to rename files due to macOS security requirements.

To make renaming as fast as possible, Renamer by default uses a system rename function. Although fast, this has the disadvantage that it may rearrange icons of the renamed files (for example those on your Desktop).

If you want to keep your icons arranged as they are:

1. Choose Renamer > Preferences
2. From «Rename with» choose «Finder»

Note that for renaming many files this is noticeably slower than the «System» option.

Renamer can insert the following ID3 tags into filenames: artist, album name, track title, album year, track number and track count (that is, the number of tracks).

If you change a song’s attribute in iTunes, the values may have been stored in iTunes’ database but not the file itself. You can fix this by Ctrl-clicking on the song in iTunes and choosing Convert ID3 Tags….

Renamer can insert the following EXIF tags into filenames: dimensions (width and height), date/time original, date/time digitized, GPS coordinates (longitude and latitude), altitude, camera make and camera model.

The EXIF Digitized date records when the photo was digitized. For digital cameras this will always be the same as the Original date because the camera immediately saves (digitizes) the photo. For photos that were taken with analog cameras and later scanned, the Digitized date will record the date when the photo was scanned.

Renamer can insert the image dimensions (width and height) and DPI resolution. For photos Renamer can also insert EXIF tags including the date and time, GPS coordinates and camera information.

Yes, Renamer can match text with regular expressions.
