Rocksmith 2014 free Mac Game
Developer: Ubisoft San Francisco
Release date: 2013
Version: 1.0 + Full Game
Interface language: English
Tablet: The program has been treated (does not require data entry / enter any data)
Platform: Intel only
Rocksmith 2014 is a music video game produced by Ubisoft. It has been described as a replacement to the 2011 rhythm video game Rocksmith rather than a sequel. The game’s main focus is the feature that allows players to plug in virtually any electric guitar or bass guitar and play. It was announced at Ubisoft’s 2013 E3 presentation.
Rocksmith 2014 recommends the use of the «Hercules» adapter, a USB cable that connects to the standard 1⁄4 in (6.35 mm) output jack of most electric and bass guitars. Other guitars, such as acoustic guitars, may require additional hardware, such as a pickup.
Rocksmith 2014 offers three different development paths for lead, rhythm, and bass guitar respectively. It now includes the ability to set song difficulty, rather than having to play the song starting at the lowest difficulty, as in Rocksmith. The game includes a Session Mode, which enables players to perform in jam sessions with the in-game musicians. Other new modes include an enhanced Master Mode to help with memory-playing and new Guitarcade minigames. New missions have been added as a way to challenge and direct players towards areas they need to improve upon.
Rocksmith 2014 is intended to be more of a teaching tool than the original game, featuring more than 85 lessons covering bends, accents, slides, and more. A new finger positioning tool has also been added. Rocksmith 2014 also features a mode for colorblind players.
On why the publisher chose the name Rocksmith 2014 as opposed to Rocksmith 2, senior vice president of sales and marketing Tony Key explained it was to encourage those who had not played the first game yet to buy and play the second one, without needing to invest in a previous installment of the franchise. He compared it to foreign language learning courses: «This is not the second step in guitar playing. Some people might interpret it that way. If you see Spanish 1 and then Spanish 2, you think that you need to learn Spanish 1 first.» He described Rocksmith 2014 as a «replacement» for the original game rather than a sequel, and argued that its new songs, modes and improvements justified the purchase for people who had already bought the original Rocksmith.
Rocksmith 2014 Edition — Remastered
On 26 August 2016, Ubisoft announced Rocksmith 2014 Edition — Remastered, an updated version of the game to be released on 4 October 2016. The new version includes «a customizable learning curve, expanded practice tools, stat tracking, improved menus and more». The Remastered version is a free update to existing versions of the game, but was also released at retail for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One with six additional songs. These six bonus songs have been released as DLC for all other users.
On 13 December 2016, Ubisoft released an additional patch for Rocksmith 2014 Edition — Remastered, which added two new capabilities that removed the requirement for the Real-Tone Cable. The first capability added to the software was Microphone Mode, which allowed players to use USB microphones and input devices that could simulate microphones for both players of acoustic guitars, and electric guitar players using non-Real-Tone cables. While this mode allows for note detection with the software, it disables the Rocksmith 2014’s Authentic Tone capabilities, and players are limited to the «clean» guitar sound captured by the software. The second capability added to the software allows players to play along with the note tracks without note detection enabled.
In April 2020, it was announced that Rocksmith 2014 would receive no further DLC after the Opeth song pack, as focus was shifting to a new project.
Rocksmith 2014 was released in the US on October 22, 2013 to mostly positive reviews. Aggregating review website Metacritic rated the PC version 89/100, the PlayStation 3 version 88/100, and the Xbox 360 version 87/100.
Lee Cooper of Hardcore Gamer praised the game and its general improvement over 2011’s Rocksmith, saying, «Every facet of gameplay has been given a nice thick coat of improvement in Rocksmith 2014, issues that the original title was known for have either been removed entirely, or overhauled beyond recognition.»

Rocksmith 2014 mac os
Greetings, Rocksmith players!
The Rocksmith Remastered update for MacOS users is now live! Primarily, this update adds 64-bit support for Mac users. We want to thank everyone who offered us feedback on the beta for this update, and we will continue to gather feedback on this update.
Please note:
Players first launching this update will receive a request to allow Rocksmith to accept keyboard/mouse input even while using other applications. It’s important to note that Rocksmith will not actually be monitoring your inputs outside of the game. This request is a result of Catalina’s improvements to Privacy settings and was necessary to allow the use of certain types of mouse input for MacOS. Denying this request will prevent players from using their mouse in-game. You can change these options from the Privacy tab of your Security settings.
- Add 64-bit support
- Fix a crash at shutdown
- Make in-game shop more reliable
- Fix UI draw when game/app is in background
- Minor bug fixes
A list of known issues that are present in the build. As we apply fixes to the build, we will be regularly updating that Known Issues thread to reflect fixes and ongoing known issues. We ask that you please take the time to go over them.
Is the update working well? Is it not working at all? Did you run into a weird bug? We want to know!
Please make sure to share your feedback with us here so we can verify that the update is working as intended or look to address any unintended behavior as a result of the update.
Just in case there is any confusion about issues with the beta vs. this new, live release of Rocksmith for MacOS, please confirm that you are on the correct build. You can find this in-game under options (looking for v165.394561) or from the Steam library (right-click Remastered > Properties; looking for Steam App Build: 4268159)
If you encounter issues with DLC failing to appear or load, please let us know which DLC and if there is any DLC that IS working.
When posting about issues, be sure to let us know:
- What model of Mac are you using
- What input method are you using (RT cable, microphone, etc.)
Any game crashes you encounter should also be logged by your Mac, as long as you are on OS X 10.7 (Lion) or later. To access those logs, do the following:
- In Finder, click on the Go menu and choose Go to Folder. After selecting this command, a text field should appear in Finder.
- Paste the path
/Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports/ into the text field.
- Click the Go button.
Sharing those logs with us is invaluable to finding and resolving any issues with crashing you may experience.
I have been unable to play most of my DLC’s today since the update. Crashes after the tuning.
Im using high sierra.

Few questions:
- Which DLC failed? Does any DLC work?
- What model of Mac are you using?
- Are you using a Real Tone Cable, mic, or something else?
I have the same problem too. I’ve tried several DLCs that were working fine yesterday, and all fail today. I am using a RealTone cable on a Mac Pro running High Sierra.
The exact symptom isn’t quite a crash — after the tuning screen it shows the speakers, and the guitar sound is processed and plays through correctly, and oscilloscope animations happen around the speakers, but the track never starts, the main song display never appears. The keyboard controls are unresponsive — I can’t get to practice or track menus, can’t get out of playback mode. The only thing that works is a straight Command-Q to quit the whole app.

Hi My problem is exactly the same as the post by Squinky below. All of the DLC i have tried have the same problem apart from the Rocksmith 2012 theme which plays. I am using an original real tone cable on 2010 Mac running high sierra. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game several times. Everything was working fine on Monday.

Thanks for sharing those details along! I’ll make sure to forward the info over to the team.
Just to make doubly sure, definitely check that you have the correct build of the game. The post I just pinned under the original post will tell you how to do that. It also explains how to retrieve crash logs for any crashes you might run into.
I am running the build you mention: 4268159. I do also have crash logs — where should I send them? In the mean time, here’s a short version:
