Roland (ʁɔ.lɑ̃|pron;or Rotholandus;or Rolando ; died 15 August 778) was a Frankish military leader under Charlemagne who became one of the principal figures in the literary cycle known as the Matter of France. The historical Roland was military governor of the Breton March, responsible for defending Francia’s frontier against the Bretons. His only historical attestation is in Einhard’s Vita Karoli Magni, which notes he was part of the Frankish rearguard killed in retribution by the Basques in Iberia at the Battle of Roncevaux Pass. The story of Roland’s death at Roncevaux Pass was embellished in later medieval and Renaissance literature. The first and most famous of these epic treatments was the Old French Chanson de Roland of the 11th century. Two masterpieces of Italian Renaissance poetry, the Orlando Innamorato and Orlando Furioso (by Matteo Maria Boiardo and Ludovico Ariosto), are further detached from history than the earlier Chansons, similarly to the later Morgante by Luigi Pulci. Roland is poetically associated with his sword Durendal, his horse Veillantif, and his oliphant horn. In the late 17th century, French Baroque composer Jean-Baptiste Lully wrote an opera titled Roland, based on the story of the title character.

Появление в 2011 году моделей Duo-Capture и Roland Tri-Capture обновило и дополнило продуктовую линейку USB интерфейсов Roland. Посмотрим официальный ролик:

Название Roland Tri-Capture происходит от трёх входов и трёх режимов интерфейса. Интерфейс остался 2-канальным, но встроенный аппаратный микшер позволяет записывать сигнал с разных источников: микрофон, гитара, синтезатор, программный медиаплеер. Причем 3 режима записи позволяют объединять те или иные источники между собой, или записать вообще всё, что воспроизводится в данный момент. Таким образом, есть возможность репетиционной записи без установки и изучения каких-либо программ. Это больше подойдёт начинающим музыкантам и тем, кто панически боится компьютеров. Tri-Capture по сути не имеет вообще никаких настроек — всё выведено на кнопки на корпусе, даже переключение частоты дискретизации, как это было сделано в интерфейсах Edirol. Впрочем, в комплекте идёт секвенсор Cakewalk SONAR X1 LE, для тех, кого программы не пугают.

Хотя Roland Tri-Capture питается от шины USB, микрофонный вход здесь – полноценный XLR с фантомным питанием +48 В, что позволяет подключать профессиональные конденсаторные микрофоны.

Безусловно главное достоинство Roland Tri-Capture — доступная цена 5500 руб.

Конструкция выглядит продуманной. Благодаря пластмассовому корпусу интерфейс очень лёгкий, 320 г. Это плюс при переноске. Кроме того, форма корпуса защищает ручки регуляторов при переноске в сумке.

Дизайн выполнен в виде миниатюрного микшерного пульта. Roland советует применять Tri-Capture для видео пост-продакшн, интернет-вещания, создания подкастов. Именно для этого служит функция LOOP BACK. Она позволяет «вещать» на линейный выход одновременно со всех входов устройства плюс могут играть любые плееры и программы, которые в данный момент воспроизводят звук на компьютере.

Помимо полноценного микрофонного входа XLR с фантомным питанием +48 В и максимальным током 10 мА, имеется гитарный вход TRS с кнопкой включения высокоомной нагрузки Hi-Z. Это позволяет подключать гитару прямо в интерфейс при включенной кнопке Hi-Z или в линию после гитарного процессора. Все входы имеют независимую подстройку уровня.

Стереовход AUX позволяет подключить, например, синтезатор. Выходы устройства неожиданно оказались балансными TRS, +4 dBu. Выход на наушники полностью дублирует сигнал на линейном выходе. Есть кнопка аппаратного мониторинга и mute. Каких-либо аппаратных обработок нет. Отметим многосегментную индикацию уровня и удобный прорезиненный регулятор громкости.

В коробке находится печатное руководство пользователя на английском, CD-ROM с драйверами, USB-кабель, DVD-ROM с Cakewalk SONAR LE для Windows. Подробная русскоязычная инструкция доступна на сайте www.rolandmusic.ru.

В комплекте идёт ASIO драйвер, возможны режимы до 24 бит/96 кГц, но режим full-duplex только до 48 кГц. Минимальное значение latency 144 мс вызвано применением USB 1.1. Есть и отдельный драйвер для Mac OS X.

Вскрытие устройства показало, что АЦП и ЦАП основаны на интегрированном кодеке VIA VT2021. Это 10-канальный HD Audio кодек с отношением сигнал/шум 100 дБА для входа и 110 дБА для выхода. VIA VT2021 можно встретить в дорогих моделях материнских плат персонального компьютера. Кодек VT2021 не так уже плох, по качеству ничем не хуже профессиональных устройств 10-летней давности (к примеру, таких хитов продаж, как M-Audio Audiophile 2496 и Echo MIA). Операционные усилители JRC 4558. Вердикт по начинке: как всегда, нам хотелось бы лучшего.

Заключение

Зачем может потребоваться Roland Tri-Capture с интегрированным кодеком, если в компьютере уже есть интегрированный кодек? Во-первых, не всегда стоит хороший кодек, особенно не радует те, что производители ставят в ноутбуки. Во-вторых, дело в больших возможностях подключения Roland Tri-Capture. В третьих, в удобстве регулировки и наглядной индикации режимов работы Roland Tri-Capture. Человек с гитарой и микрофоном, совершающий лихорадочные действия мышкой для регулировки уровней, выглядит по меньшей мере нелепо.

Из всех интерфейсов Roland более всего нам понравился Quad-Capture. Это действительно законченное устройство для мобильной и студийной звукозаписи. Roland Tri-Capture на его фоне выглядит интерфейсом для художественной самодеятельности.

Менеджер Roland по продуктам звукозаписи, Сергей Борзов, прокомментировал наш вердикт. Он назвал звуковой USB-интерфейс Roland Tri-Capture успешным и востребованным интерфейсом на российском рынке по данным розничных продаж. Особенным успехом Tri-Capture пользуется у хип-хоп исполнителей, так как позволяет сразу же после включения начать работать, без установки какого-либо музыкального софта, объединяя возможности микшерного пульта и компьютера на репетициях и выступлениях. Никакой другой интерфейс конкурентов такие возможности просто не даёт! А если, вопреки всем экспертным мнениям, продукт нашёл своего покупателя, это безусловный успех производителя.
