How to play Legends of Runeterra on Mac

Turn your Mac into your Legends of Runeterra hub.

The biggest appeal to card games for many people is that they’re available on almost any platform, alongside the epic gameplay filled with countless strategic choices.

With low system requirements and crossplay features, you can pick up your Legends of Runeterra progress from where you left off on your iOS/Android phone and PC. But Mac devices aren’t compatible with the game just yet. This forces fans who don’t own a Windows PC to keep playing on their phones and tablets, which can get tiring over time.

While most Mac devices are more than capable of running games with low system requirements, like LoR, it’s the software that makes it challenging for developers to adapt their game. A MacOS client requires a separate team since it’s close to impossible to port your Windows version without any bugs and not every development team has the resources to pull this off.

Mac clients also require a separate team to implement all the performance and visual updates since the process will be completely different than how it is on Windows.

Considering Mac users make up one of the smallest minorities in a game’s player base, Mac clients can take longer to develop since there isn’t enough demand to justify the man-hours. Mac gamers aren’t without options, however, and there are a couple of ways you can try to start slinging LoR cards on your Mac.

Here’s how you can play Legends of Runeterra on a Mac

The usual way that Mac users prefer to run Windows compatible games is by installing Windows on their Macs. Though it’s more of a permanent solution, it also defeats the purpose of owning a Mac since MacOS is a vital part of the experience.

LoR being available on mobile platforms like Google Play Store and Apple Play Store makes way for a second solution, however, which can be less time-consuming.

1) Play Legends of Runeterra via an Android emulator on Mac

An Android emulator with a Mac client is one of the easiest ways to play mobile games on your Mac. Legends of Runeterra isn’t necessarily a mobile game, but it has mobile clients, which is a key for this method.

Before you start applying the following steps, you should know that there’s a chance you may not be able to run LoR through an emulator if the game detects that you’re on one. This is a standard measure used by most mobile games and only affects a small percentage of the user base.

Setting up an emulator doesn’t take that long and you can always opt-in for the second method if the first one fails to deliver.

Download an Android emulator that’s compatible with Mac

Countless Android emulators work on Mac, but we decided to go with Bluestacks for testing purposes. You’ll need to download the emulator through its official website and install it like any other Mac app.

Your Mac may try to verify the emulator multiple times while installing since it’ll also be installing some necessary software frameworks that emulators need to function correctly. Launch the emulator once it’s done installing and you should be greeted with a welcome screen.

Create a Google account or log in with an existing one

You’ll then need to enter your Google credentials or create a Google account if you don’t have one. After the sign-in process, the emulator should guide you back to the homepage.

Head over to the Google Play Store and search for Legends of Runeterra. If the game doesn’t appear with a search, it may not be available for your emulator and you can try your luck by side-loading the game via its latest APK file.

Here’s a quick guide explaining how you can install games with APK files.

Exit the Google Play Store after LoR finishes installing successfully and launch the game via its icon on the main screen. The game should run as if you’re on an Android device now and Bluestacks will prompt you with all the keybinds you’ll need to know.

You’ll be able to log in with your Riot account to sync your process and continue playing with your existing card library.

If you get kicked out prematurely before loading into the game multiple times, you can try rebooting your system before moving on to the next method, but you’ll most likely need to follow the Boot Camp method.

2) The Boot Camp method to install Windows on your Mac

The quality of life improvements that MacOS has over Windows makes it a much more simplistic experience. Gamers, on the other hand, may find themselves wishing they were on a Windows PC because not all games are compatible with MacOS. But installing Windows on your Mac is a relatively simple process and is no different than installing it on a fresh gaming rig build.

Mac’s included “Boot Camp Assistant” will be your gateway to installing Windows. You’ll need to follow these steps, which are quite straightforward.

• Before you do anything else, you’ll need to head over to Microsoft official webpage to download the ISO file of Windows 10. You should be guided through the process via instructions and simply download the ISO file, which you’ll use in the following steps to your Mac.
• You’ll need a USB stick with at least five GB of storage available to continue the installation process since you’ll need it as a boot drive to install Windows 10. Disconnect all the other external storage devices you don’t need during this process and just leave the USB stick you’ll use during the process connected.
• Now, you’ll need to launch “Boot Camp Assistant” and the easiest way of doing it through the spotlight search. Press Cmd+Space to launch to search and type in “Boot Camp Assistant” to locate the program.
• Launching the program should prompt you with a window that you’ll use to download “the latest Windows support software for Apple.” You’ll also have an option to install Windows during this process, and a secondary pop-up should appear for you to locate the ISO file you downloaded from Microsoft.
• The setup process will continue by asking you how much space you’d like Windows 10 to allocate on your hard drive or SSD. Considering you’ll be installing games after installing Windows 10, we recommend dedicating at least 35 GBs of storage for Windows to use.
• From now on, the Windows setup process will take over and ask you about your system/user preferences.
• Windows 10 should boot up by itself once the installation process ends, and you should be welcomed with the iconic home screen.
• Once you get your hands on the complete Windows experience, all you need to is install LoR as you’d do on a Windows PC.

3) The remote control method

Though it may sound like a far-fetched idea, most gamers use their Mac devices as workstations and own a Windows system. If you take your Mac with you every day to complete simple productivity tasks, there’s one alternate way you can play LoR as long as you have a stable internet connection at home.

You’ll need to keep your home PC on throughout the day for this method to work, however, since you’ll be connecting to it with your Mac. Software like Teamviewer, VNC, and Bomgar will allow you to establish a remote connection with your PC and you’ll basically be streaming LoR from your home to your Mac.

Downloading one of these programs or a similar software to both of your devices will be enough for you to control your PC remotely, but you’ll also need to install LoR on your Windows machine before doing any of that.

You may experience slight delays and lag while using this method, but it shouldn’t be too bad to affect your overall experience as long as you have a decent internet connection on both of your devices.

You could also mirror your phone display onto your Mac, but you’ll ultimately be playing on your phone with this method.

Will Legends of Runeterra come to Mac?

The Mac community wants to know if Legends of Runeterra will ever make the jump to Mac. We’ve got the answer.

Legends of Runeterra is currently set to release on PC and smartphones sometime later this year, and as users have gotten their first taste of the League of Legends-based card game, many have found themselves with plenty of questions. One of these burning questions is simple—will Legends of Runeterra come to Mac? Here’s what we know.

Will Legends of Runeterra come to Mac?

As it stands right now, it doesn’t look like Riot Games has any laid-in-stone plans to bring Legends of Runeterra to the Mac ecosystem. In fact, in the official FAQ on the website, the developers have even stated that Mac is not supported right now. However, this could change in the future.

There has been no official saying that Mac won’t ever be supported when it comes to Legends of Runeterra. In fact, Riot Games has built up a pretty good history of supporting Apple’s ecosystem, so it stands to reason that Legends of Runeterra will one day follow in League of Legends and Teamfight Tactics footsteps and appear on the Mac. Of course, this is just conjecture, so we’ll need to wait for an official answer before we can say for sure.

There is still going to be plenty of ways to enjoy the strategy-based card game, though, with plans to release on PC, Android, and iPhone throughout the coming year. This means you’ll have at least three major platforms to enjoy the game on, and Mac users should be able to get it working on one of those devices when it fully releases. For now, all we can do is wait and see where Riot Games takes Legends of Runeterra.

Legends of Runeterra: «Царство дисбаланса»

Для тех кто не в курсе Legends of Runeterra – коллекционная карточная игра по вселенной League of Legends от студии Riot Games. В этой статье я рассмотрю карты героев, связки рассматривать не буду, на примерах и сравнениях покажу проблемы баланса.

Карты героев – это такие усиленные карты бойцов с особыми способностями и, в отличие от обычных бойцов, они имеют уровни и могут их прокачивать (всего уровней два). Стартуют с первого уровня, для прокачки требуется выполнить некое условие (например, герой Дариус поднимает уровень, когда у вражеского кристалла 10 или меньше здоровья), некоторые из них выполняются вне зависимости от того где находится карта героя, но большинство требует нахождения карты на столе для зачета выполнения условия. После прокачки вы получаете улучшенную версию героя с новыми способностями. Эти карты являются ключевыми для каждой колоды, и, по сути, являются выигрышными стратегиями любой колоды, большая часть карт в которой и собрана для прокачки/взаимодействия с героем.

Пара слов об моем опыте – это Hearthstone (играл пару лет) и MTG Arena. У них также наблюдаются проблемы с балансом, но разбирать их в подобном ключе – нет желания.

Недавно в рунтерре вышел патч, которым разработчики попытались забалансить свое детище – но безуспешно. И простого разбора и сравнения героев будет достаточно, чтобы понять проблемы. Героев примерно равных я трогать не буду.

Стоимость карты — 2 единицы маны

Начнем с 2 маны. Будем брать героев одинаковых или близких по манакосту. В правом углу ринга у нас Люциан, кусок мяса, не боец, а так. А в левом углу ринга Элиза, какой-то качок на максималках, вот тебе и страх, и паучка сверху… может еще машину и виллу сразу, тому кто кладёт ее в деку? Не? А чего так. Какая она должна быть, чтобы сравняться с Люцианом? На мой взгляд либо дороже (за 3 маны), либо, например, давать паука в руку, а не сразу на стол. Я уже молчу о том, что эта карта на свой второй ход просто способна задавить, это уже так, мелочи. При более поздней мане Люциан выглядит сильнее, но это только потому, что со временем дополнительный юнит и страх теряют свою мощь. Это не отменяет её дисбаланса в сравнении с Люцианом при той же мане. После поднятия уровня обоих карт, трудно решить кто сильнее, но задачу на улучшение Люциана сделать проще, за счет чего он и приобретает лидерство, тут хотя бы перекрестный баланс попытались сделать. Можно сказать хорошая попытка, но не засчитано.

Стоимость карты — 3 единицы маны

Среди трёхмановых до улучшения меня поразил Зед. Вызывает свою эфирную копию, которая хоть и одноразовая (эфирные копии исчезают в конце раунда), но это всё равно перебор. Настолько сильный, что даже трудно забалансить. Если сделать карту дороже, то он, скорее всего, будет уже таким себе. Причем вот рядом есть герои за ту же ману, и до улучшения у них нормальные способности, тут вы справились, а это что делал кто-то другой? Уборщица протирала и получилось вот это? Или как? Может после корпоратива?

Но если рассматривать улучшения, то меня убивает Фиора. У нее появляется способность выиграть матч после убийства 4 противников, что просто абсурд. Как будто инопланетянина пригласили, делали баланс, делали, а тут пришел чел и тупо им подтёрся. Может вы геймдеву зарплату не выплатили вовремя и он обиделся? Или что такое? В каком состоянии это придумывалось? Как балансить? Опять же сложно, как вариант увеличить число убийств хотя бы до 5-6 это уже лучше, чем сейчас.

Стоимость карты — 4 единицы маны

Далее 4. Из всех таких мой взор попал на Эш, герой на мой взгляд бессмысленный и бесполезный, ей явно не помешает усиление, либо полный пересмотр её способности. Как вариант я бы облегчил ее прокачку (3 заморозки), а карту ледяная стрела (замораживает одного врага, а затем всех с 3 и менее здоровья и вытяните карту) сделал бы быстрым заклинанием, а не медленным. Одно из этих улучшений мне кажется сделает её более адекватной, но оба вместе совмещать опасно, может стать слишком сильной.

Стоимость карты — 5 единиц маны

5 же нас порадует двумя имбалансами курильщика. Слева Квинн, неиграбельный кусок помойки которая после улучшения получает +1/+1 и свою птицу снова. Это что такое? Это точно карта героя? При том что рядом, в той же мане много нормальных героев. А тут и квест сложный, так еще и награды нет никакой. Как, я вас спрашиваю, как я должен вокруг этого мусора в принципе строить колоду? Где бонусы? Забыли? Больше похожа на обычную карту, и то они будут полезнее за ту же ману. Сделайте после улучшения две птицы 2/1 с возможностью вызова, чтоб хотя бы можно было кого-то повытаскивать или птицу жирнее 3\4 хотя бы. А карта справа, Хеймердингер, это полная лютая жесть, имба, не контрится. Это не герой, это колода в одном герое и главная причина его проблем – это способность создать турель 8/8 за ноль от заклинания и это просто боль. Чем создатели думали, я понятия не имею. Просто уберите её из турелей и тогда он будет все ещё очень сильным, но не разбивать всё и вся за заклинания. Или это такой баланс? Сделаем парочку героев неиграбельными, но взамен за ту же ману сделаем супер имбу.

Стоимость карты — 6 единиц маны

За 6. У нас тут два кандидата и один из них это просто прокачанная версия другого и, как бы, куда вы смотрели при создании? Понятно каким отличие должно быть, но, то что есть, это не отличие это просто твою мать. Задание слева к тому же явно легче, можно же было забалансить более сложным заданием, не этим, для слабых? И в чём, как бы проблемы? Сделайте Седжуани не 5, а ну хотя бы 10 атак по нексусу (кристалл игрока) или поднимите цену в кристаллах, потому что она замораживает и делает уязвимой (позволяет вытаскивать карту со скамейки на поле и атаковать) или за 7 маны — было бы более похоже на баланс.

Стоимость карты — 7+ единицы маны

Ну the last stand как говорится 7+ маны. Меня тут удивляет только это существо. И сразу вопрос, а чего оно делает во Фрельйорде со своими статами (количеством атаки и здоровья)? Если вдруг кто внезапно забыл, напоминаю, Фрельйорд регион который славится здоровьем, а где оно тут? Ладно классовые особенности регионов, от них в принципе можно отклоняться, но тут уж совсем перебор. Слишком много атаки, простой квест, так еще и с пробиванием. Это откуда такое чудо, ломающее кабины? Может быть стоило поменять местами здоровье и атаку? Как вариант? Не, хотите, чтоб человек собирал выбитые зубы сломанными пальцами? Тогда ладно. Так еще и его не убить, только вернуть или поглотить, а таких карт очень мало.

Ну так или иначе, обновляют игру достаточно часто и возможно рано или поздно прийдут к какому-то решению, а если же нет — ну что ж мне будет о чем писать. Для полного же погружения в рунтерру советую играть под музыку -ComedoZ — Ямайка
