Saints row ��� linux

I’ve put together Wine wrappers for Saints Row: The Third and Saints Row 4, allowing them to be played on Linux almost like native games & with no Wine knowledge required.

Simply run the build script to create the wrapper. If the installer files are not alongside the wrapper build files then the path to them will need to be specified either by passing it as an argument to the build script with -respath=»

» or by setting an environment variable named WINEWRAP_RESPATH containing it. You can change the path to build the wrapper in and the name of the wrapper directory with the -buildpath= and -dirname= arguments. The build path can also be set with the WINEWRAP_BUILDPATH environment variable.

The output will be a directory containing the game set up within a preconfigured Wine prefix, along with its own copy of Wine, extracted game icons, documentation, and start script(s). From there simply run the start script to play. The start script also includes options for creating a shortcut, configuring the wrapper etc.

(to uninstall simply delete the game directory and any shortcuts you created, and the game’s user data directory in

/.local/share if you don’t want to keep your saves & settings)

These wrappers use Proton 4.11-13. Proton and Winetricks will be downloaded automatically if not present; to avoid redownloading for other scripts the downloaded Wine package will be stored in

The script’s menu offers options to toggle DXVK on or off (it is enabled by default) & switch between Wine’s builtin D3D11 implementation and DXVK, and to update DXVK. However Wine’s builtin D3D11 implementation needs a lot more optimisation and its performance is currently too poor for the game to be enjoyable, so it’s not recommended.

Saints Row: The Third and Saints Row 2 have now joined the rest of the Saints Row PC games on Linux and Steam OS!

Already own the games? Thanks to Steam Play, having either game in your library means you can now play it on any supported OS — Windows, Linux, or Steam OS.

Will these Linux ports be made available on GOG too? Already got them on Steam from a bundle but I prefer DRM-free & would re-buy them there

It says that the Ultimate Franchise Pack is Windows-only but it appears that the only thing that’s not supported is Genkibowl VII, is that maybe just a mistake? I’ve heard that these are great games, but I want to make sure that my purchase counts towards Linux.

The Ultimate Franchise pack is simply a collection of all the games and not anything special. The Linux ports should be available!

Answer: This could be a number of different things, but many users have fixed this issue by lower the lighting detail in the settings menu.

Answer: Pixel artefacts will happen if AA settings and/or texture sharpening are forced on in the Nvidia Control Panel

Saints Row: The Third Linux port report, better than SR2, but still needs improvement

With the Saints Row 2 report out of the way and performing terribly, I have also taken some time to look at Saints Row: The Third.

Note: May contain spoilers.

A much nicer start up than Saints Row 2, it has proper mouse support! Looks like when it was originally created they put at least a little more thought into the PC version.

The game has probably one of the most annoying DLC introductions I’ve ever seen. I purchased the big pack on Steam, so once I got out of the introduction section it presented me with a screen I had to press enter on for every pack I purchased. Who on earth thought that was a good idea?

Linux performance
Tested at 1080p (1920×1080) on High settings. Pairing an Intel i7 with an Nvidia 980ti.

The game was stuttering in the initial intro sequence video, which didn’t exactly set things up very well for me.

During the first section it was actually running okay, there was a bit of stutter here and there but not at all that much. FPS wise it was still all over the place, with it bouncing between 70 and 100FPS. It was playable though, much more than Saints Row 2 was. When you get further into this section, shooting down helicopters and seeing many more police teams come in the game then starts to get a little on the ugly side. It dips down to 40FPS and stutters a bit more.

Once you’re on the plane the FPS is much better, but you’re in a pretty enclosed space so that’s not really surprising. It was hitting 110FPS max in the corridoors. Once you get outside, and you’re free-falling the FPS will once again bounce around. It wasn’t actually too bad at all, only one dip down to 40FPS when a car exploded, but it soon stabilized. This section was actually quite nice performance wise and gameplay wise it was quite fun.

Once you’re in the city the FPS becomes much lower overall. It will generally hover between 40-70FPS. For a 980ti, this is again, really not very impressive. It will stutter at times, and become a little sluggish, but I was able to at least enjoy what I was playing with Saints Row: The Third.

I can accept lower performance in games where it’s not directly needed (Like XCOM 2), but in a 3rd person action-heavy shooter like Saints Row: The Third it’s not great.

Overall, the game looks far better than Saints Row 2, and performs quite a bit better, but overall still quite poor. I couldn’t imagine playing this with a worse CPU and GPU than mine, and mine are top-end, so I wouldn’t want to try it on something lower.

Saints Row IV теперь и на Linux

Сегодня к списку игр доступных для SteamOS добавилась еще одна — шутер от третьего лица Saints Row IV.

Когда-то эта серия напоминала серию GTA про некую банду Святых, но позже в нее разработчики добавили «треша и угара» и получилось то, что получилось. Конкретно в этой части Вам предстоит поиграть за президента, спасающего мир от пришельцев. Большую часть времени Вы будете проводить в «Матрице» сражаясь с врагами самым необычным оружием и используя сверхспособности.

В честь данного события игра и дополнения продаются по скидке в магазине Steam.

Тут SuperTux зарелизился, лучше бы про него написали новость.

Если будут эксклюзивы, тогда можно говорить о «взлете», а так пока только SteamController и SteamLink взлетели.

работает конечно, просто по сравнению с виндой тяжелее отрисовка, кадров меньше выдаёт процентов на 20 в среднем (с высокими/максимальными настройками на NVIDIA GTX 860M, как там у других хз)

Ведьмак 2 полгода после релиза был тотально неюзабельный, например.
С биошоком получше было, но тоже не всё гладко.
Так что догадайся 🙂
Ну и правильно сказали выше — eON, даже вылизанный, довольно тормозной.

у меня биошок на высоких настройках нормально идет, только мышка какая то дерганная и неудобная

Поставить, что-ли сабж скачиваться, заодно и проверю как он будет ворочаться на GTX650Ti.
Игрушка, кстати, хороша. Но начинать Saints Row лучше с третьей части, после беготни в стиле Prototype из 4 передвигаться по той же самой локации на транспорте откровенно напрягает.
Ну и саундрек в 3 получше будет, ИМХО. Жаль она windows-only, wine не запускает ни один Saints Row.

Эксклюзивы — мерзкая практика.

Просто они вызывают у игродрочеров попоболь.

Какая разница, что они у кого вызывают? Начинка у игровых консолей сегодня примерно одинаковая, Steam-овские туда же. Иметь больше чем одну такую хрень дома — нерационально.

Поэтому стоит взять плойку и радоваться жизни, зная что ты по ней победитель!

Никто и не спорит. Но тут по-другому никак. Выбирая между оффтопиком и СтимОСью, народ будет выбирать скорее первое по понятным причинам. Чтобы стали появляться нативные игры, развивались драйвера, надо, чтобы у людей была хоть какая-нибудь мотивация.

Возможно если дадут возможность запускать непортированные игры через вайн (не запуская сам стим через вайн), то ситуация немного улучшится.

ГТА — симулятор гопника-отморозка (для людей с соотв. наклонностями), но и эта игра ни чем не лучше.

Я за эксклюзивы под Linux/SteamOS т.к. это необходимо на данном этапе. Но я имею ввиду эксклюзивы по времени, т.е. сначала появляется на Linux/Steam OS а потом через год как минимум — на других платформах.

В следующем году на Steam OS планируют выпустить «Saints Row 2» и «Saints Row: The Third».

Если она взлетит. Пока она провалилась.

Это ж еще хуже eON’а. Нужны даже не эксклюзивы, а нормальные нативные порты. Но никто не будет их делать для платформы, которую не покупают. А не покупают потому, что платформа тормозная. Можно было бы хотя бы развернуть агрессивную мартетинговую кампанию и за счет нее хотя бы как-то распродать стим машины и разорвать этот замкнутый крут, но сейчас все выглядит та как будто Габен на стим машины просто забил.

Да эксклюзивы не дадут _вообще_ ничего. Они работают только на анально огороженных платформах. А здесь максимум, чего можно добиться эксклюзивами — дуалбут. На той же машине, на которой уже стоит винда для всего остального. На продажи стим-машин они почти не повлияют. Был бы в этом какой-то толк, Габен уже выкатил бы какой-то эксклюзивчик. Но его же до сих пор нет.

А что с видеосистемой капитально не так? Вон Dota 2 Reborn на убогих иксах и кривых линуксовых дровах бегает заметно быстрее, чем на винде. Главная техническая проблема в том, что дота — единственный нормальный нативный порт. Все остальное — мерзкий eON или еще что похуже.

А пообещал просто потому, что он хороший, а не потому, что эксклюзивы неогороженной платформе ничего не дают.

Все зависит от того, сможет ли Гейб играть в долгую и будут ли эксклюзивы, а пока графика под Linux хуже. а Винда стоит как хороший тайтл, а то и дешевле.

Какая разница какой практический смысл? Главное, что fps намного больше, т.е. с видеосистемой в целом все в порядке, все тормоза только из-за качества портов.

Тоже так думал, но пятая часть отлично раскрыла тему серии. Обнаружился интересный сюжет, хорошая подача и колоритные персонажи. А потом я взглянул на четвёртую часть и два вышедших дополнения, и они оказались не хуже.

А saints row это что-то уровня несмешной пародии.

В пятой части интересный сюжет? Ты смеешся? Такого дерьмового сюжета ещё ни разу не было в гта. Вот в vice city был интересный сюжет, в стиле классических криминальных фильмов. В san andreas и gta 4 сюжет немного хуже, но тоже на высоте. А в gta 5 сюжета вообще как такового нет, просто несколько дней из жизни обычных бандитов. Никакой драмы, никаких интересных поворотов сюжета, за героев переживать совсем не хочется. После gta 5 я окончательно разочаровался в gta.

А saints row это и есть пародия, пародирующая многие игры и фильмы. Причем очень хорошая пародия. Она и не претендует на серьезный сюжет, это просто веселая песочница, имеющая все плюсы открытого мира гта и добавляющая много новых возможностей.
