Use a screen saver on your Mac
You can use a screen saver to hide the desktop when you’re away from your Mac or if you need extra privacy.
Customise the screen saver on your Mac
On your Mac, choose Apple menu
> System Preferences, click Desktop & Screen Saver, then click Screen Saver.
Click the “Show screen saver after” pop-up menu, then choose how long you want your Mac to wait before starting the screen saver when it’s idle.
A warning symbol indicates if your display is set to turn off (as specified in Energy Saver preferences or Battery preferences) before the screen saver starts.
On the left, click a screen saver, then on the right set options for it.
The options available vary depending on the screen saver you select.
Source: Click the pop-up menu, then choose the pictures to show in the screen saver. You can use pictures that come with macOS or choose pictures from your Photo Library or another folder.
The preview area shows how the screen saver will look; give it a moment to preview your selection. To see how the screen saver looks full screen, move the pointer over the preview area, then click Preview. To stop the screen saver and return to the preference pane, move the pointer.
Shuffle slide order: Select the tickbox to show pictures in a random order instead of their order in the source.
Screen Saver Options: Click to set options for colour, speed and more.
Set options for when to show the screen saver.
Use random screen saver: Select the tickbox to let macOS choose which screen saver to use.
Show with clock: Select the tickbox to show the time in the screen saver.
Hot corners: Click to set a hot corner shortcut for quickly starting the screen saver whenever you need it.
Start or stop the screen saver on your Mac
The screen saver automatically starts whenever your Mac sits idle for the amount of time you specified in Screen Saver preferences. If you set up a hot corner for the screen saver, move the pointer over the corner to immediately start the screen saver.
To stop the screen saver and show the desktop, press any key, move the mouse or touch the trackpad.

Не так давно мы спрашивали своих Facebook-подписчиков, какие скринсейверы установлены у них Маках. К полученным рекомендациям мы прибавили свой опыт — и составили список заставок, которые неплохо дополнят стильный облик любого «яблочного» компьютера.
Конечно, сегодня скринсейверы утратили свое функциональное назначение, и теперь это не более чем дань старой традиции. Более того, многие пользователи ноутбуков предпочитают, чтобы экран сразу выключался без запуска экранной заставки — для экономии заряда батареи и продления срока службы самого дисплея.
Однако если для вас экранная заставка — незаменимый элемент оформления рабочего места, конечно, стоит подобрать что-нибудь стильное, что хорошо бы сочеталось с внешностью настольного или портативного Мака. Если интересует еще и минималистичное решение, можно обратить внимание на такие продукты.
 
 
 
 
На заметку Установить загруженные скринсейверы просто. Файлы с расширением .saver двойным щелчком сами устанавливаются и открываются в «Системных настройках» как текущая заставка. Файлы с расширением .qtz следует вручную переместить в каталог
/Library/Screen Savers и только после этого открыть «Системные настройки» и в модуле Рабочий стол и заставка (Desktop & Screen Saver) выбрать соответствующий скринсейвер.

A useful and fashionable retro clock screensaver
This flip-clock screensaver comes courtesy of Yuji Adachi, a Japanese developer who also creates and publishes other free goodies besides screensavers, such as fonts, apps, icon sets and desktop wallpapers. The Fliqlo screensaver, however, appears to be one of his most popular projects, and it’s still actively developed. An iOS app version of the screensaver for iPhone and iPad was recently released, and is now available in the App Store for $0.99.
The premise of this screensaver is simple: it turns your screen into an old-fashioned flip-clock that looks much like the electromechanical alarm clocks invented in the mid-twentieth century. These clocks quickly grew in popularity due to their simple but elegant design, displaying the time in large white numerals against a black background. The fun and beauty of this screensaver is that it can effectively turn any Windows or Mac OS X computer into such an elegant and useful clock. The bigger the screen, the bigger the clock.
Some options available to this screensaver, that the original flip clocks did not possess, include the ability to switch between a 12 and a 24-hour format. Furthermore, the size of the clock can be adjusted on a scale of 25% to 125%. These settings can be reset at any time.
The only disadvantage we could find is that it requires the Adobe Flash Player plug-in. However, since this is a safe and free download, and most people will already have it installed on their computer, it shouldn’t really be an obstacle.
All things considered, the Fliqlo Flip Clock screensaver is a well-designed and functional screensaver that can be both useful and fashionable in your home or office.
Happily, it’s available both for Windows and Mac OS X.
