Side by side errors windows

Side-by-Side Error 59

This problem occurs because the run-time libraries are not installed on the Microsoft Dynamics CRM server. The applications that use side-by-side libraries cannot run without the run-time libraries. There is an Article KB 923014 which speaks about the error 59.

I would also suggest you to run a System File Checking on the computer:

1. Click on the Start menu, choose All Programs, then Accessories, then right-click on the Command Prompt item and select Run as administrator.
2. Click Continue to authorize opening a command prompt with administrative privileges.
3. Run this command in the cmd prompt: sfc /scannow
4. The cmd prompt should list text stating «Beginning system scan. This process will take some time.»
5. Wait for the scan to complete (this can take several minutes so be patient). This command will scan all protected system files and attempt to replace incorrect versions with correct Microsoft versions
6. When the scan completes, the SFC tool will indicate whether or not it found any problems and whether or not it was able to fix them
7. If any errors are reported that SFC was unable to fix, there are steps in this knowledge base article that explain how to locate and attempt to fix the errors.
8. After fixing any errors that are found.

Let us know if that helps.

Chethan Kumar.

This error has managed to find its way to Windows 10 as well, but worry not, there’s a way how to fix this error. What does side-by-side configuration error mean?

This error appears when you try to install or update certain software and is usually caused by a conflict between the software that you’re trying to update/install and files in the C++ runtime libraries.

These C++ libraries are part of the Windows operating system, and often they get updated when you install Microsoft software or sometimes third party software.

If you’re experiencing the side-by-side configuration error too, you might want to try these solutions to fix it:

How can I fix side-by-side configuration error in Windows 10?

1. Repair or reinstall the software

  1. Open Settings and go to System > Apps & features.
  2. Select the program that is giving you this error and choose Uninstall.
  3. Follow the onscreen instructions. If there’s an option to repair the program choose it.
  4. If there’s no repair option, choose Uninstall and after the process is completed install this software again.

2. Uninstall all the Microsoft Visual C++ installations and install them again

If repairing or reinstalling the application doesn’t help try doing the same with Microsoft Visual C++ packages. Open Settings and navigate to System, then choose Apps & features.

Find all Microsoft Visual C++ and uninstall them one by one. Then, you need to download the Microsoft Visual C++ 2013 Redistributable Package.

If you’re still using 32-bit version of Windows remember that you only need to download packages with x86 in its name. Install all the packages and restart your Windows 10.

If the issue isn’t resolved then it might be best for you to contact Microsoft’s support and ask a certified technician what is the cause of this problem.

Side-by-side is an easy to fix error, but it can give you a lot of trouble, and sadly it’s present in all versions of Windows, and Windows 10 is not an exception.

Sfc.exe is a console tool that needs to be run from a Command Prompt (with Administrator privileges).

Right-click Start, click Command Prompt (Admin)

Click Yes when prompted for consent and click Yes.

In the Command Prompt window, type:

sfc /scannow

Alright I am scanning, the error in full is,

C:\Program Files (86x)\Steam\Steam.exe

The Application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log or use the command-line sxstrace.exe tool for more detail.

When I run the tool it opens and closes immediately, and this error pops up for just about every application I have installed. The only exception so far seems to be Microsoft Edge.

The msg relates to MS Visual C++ runtime libraries, as to what is triggering the event, that may depend on what software you have installed that uses these.

Have you run MSUpdate and checked if nay critical updates have failed, or reviewed any reccommended updates to see if anything relevent to Visual C is offered?
