Запуск Silent Hill 2 в Wine

Вспомнил как-то на днях о старой доброй игре Silent Hill 2Director Cut, одной из лучших частей этой серии, достал диск с полки, вставил в привод и началось 🙂 Конечно можно было обойтись малой кровью, просто перезагрузить и используя дуалбут, включить Семёрочку и дело в шляпе, но как известно я не ищу лёгких путей. Использовать Винду для игр, большого ума не надо, а вот запустить ту или иную игрушку на Линукс, довольно интелектуальный и захватывающий процесс, не зря есть поговорка:

«Порой запуск игры под линукс — намного интересней самой игры

Вот я и начал скрещивать ужа и ежа, для справки вот моя конфигурация:

Первым делом, что мы делаем, это ставим wine:

Как установить игру, я думаю этот вопрос не затруднит ибо «как в Windows», т.ч следуем инсталятору, игра установится по умолчанию сюда (в моём случае):

/home/user/.wine/drive_c/Program\ /Files/Konami/Silent Hill 2

Заходим в эту папку и запускаем файл sh2pc.exe, в моём случае игра потребовала диск, хотя диск у меня был в приводе, возмоно, это проявилось только у меня, т.ч в моём данном случае пришлось искать патч по запросу Silent Hill 2 nocd, но я думаю при наличии на руках лицензионного диска, это скорее всего не грех 🙂 После всех этих действий, пробую запустить игру, и уаля игра запустилась, но расстраивает только одно, это то что разрешение экрана максимум 1024×768, а у меня широкоформатный экран с разрешением 1366×768. В Винде картинку растягивает, а на Линукс просто обрубает по бокам, т.ч играть неудобно, но можно.

А вот сейчас начинается колдовство 😀

Чтобы сделать разрешение под мой экран, мне пришлось сделать несколько магических действий.

  • Установим Bless (Шестнадцатеричный редактор):
  • Переходим в директорию с установленной игрой и выполним команду:
  • В редакторе делаем «Replace» («Заменить»), в поле Search for пишем:
  • В поле Replace with:

Вот так это выглядит:

Разгадка фокуса с магическими числами:

80 02 00 00 E0 01 ==> 80 02 (переворачиваем) 0280=640 ==> 00 00 (пробел) ==> E0 01(переворачиваем) 01E0=480

56 05 00 00 00 03 ==> 05 56 (переворачиваем)0556=1366 ==>00 00(пробел) ==> 03 00(переворачиваем)0300=768

Как это считается на примере? Да в любом калькуляторе из поставки Ubuntu или Windows и др, например при переводе например числа 1366 в шестнадцатеричное получится 556, не забывйте добавлять нолик если получается число из трёх символов, то есть:

После этого запускаем игру, заходим в настройки, выставляем разрешение «640×480» и радуемся нормальному широкоформатной картинке 🙂

Really impressive for a game originally made in Unity 4.

I downloaded this beta and it just won’t start. I tried to re-download it, but it still didn’t work even in compatibility mode (I tried W7 and XP).
//Windows 10 Pro 64bit and Ubuntu 15.10 64bit (Wine 1.9.5)

Are you running the game with Wine? I can’t say for sure it’s going to work because i’m not aware of Unity 5 Windows compatibility in Wine. In Windows 10 must work for sure. It’s tested on PCs under W10, W8.1 and W7. Be sure you’ve the latest graphics cards driver and you’ve the minimum system requirements.

I have Intel Core i5-3230M with Nvidia gt-730M and I installed W10 (and drivers too) last week, so I should run it. I’ll try again, maybe it wasn’t properly unpacked.

What is the problem presented at running the game?

I’m running U15.10 right now. I was right, it wasn’t properly unpacked. When I want to run it now (Wine), it says: «You must be a user with administrative rights to install Silent Hill Collier. Please log in as an administrator.» I’ll try on Windows tomorrow and I’ll let you know 🙂 Thanks for your willingness.

In the first place, we observed you talked about the english texts in the game, and it’s embarrassing how poor can be the english traduction. So, we apologize to all english community and we’ll improve it for sure much more in the next releases. We are a Spanish development group (the most of us) and perfect and good translation can be sometimes a little bit harsh.

The control at the time is a pain in the ***, it could be a suffering experience sometimes but we’re trying to take feedback from this aspect specially. We are starting everything from scratch. At the time, working on motion capture animations, new controls and combat system.

Graphical glitches it’s inevitable at the time. Porting this project from Unity 4 to Unity 5 brought to all the team so many technical problems that we are still trying to solve and fix. We take note from your gameplay of course and localize them. (Example: ragdoll physics can be buggy or unstable sometimes).

Notes and story can be kind of confusing in the beta, but it’s all related to character and give us clues about all the mood around us. It’s not specially interesing but i’ll be improved too.

Finally, we want to give you again thanks for your support and feedback because we’re doing all of this from our love to Silent Hill. We’re really die hard fans of the saga and we’re hoping final release becomes a lot better than this. Like and following you on Youtube!

I have Linux mint 17 x64, Steam and Source SDK 2013 Singleplayer installed. (.steam directory in /

I ran Alchemilla.run and after waiting it said that it was installed.
But even after restart Steam there is no such game in my Library. And search results in .steam directory for «alche» are empty, as the SourceMods folder.
When i tried to install it again it said that it was already installed.

The Alchemilla installer assumes Steam is in

/.local/share/steam instead of

/.steam. On my system, both directories exist, but only the one in

/.steam works, so I had to move over the alchemilla folder and then it showed up after restarting Steam.

The demo versions of the game store the files differently, but I’ve done some research and figured out what the changes are. It is easy to add other versions of the game to the source, I just supported the ones I had.

The program has options to view the filesystem, extract the files, and extract all unused data which comes «between» files and isn’t officially part of the game data. Who knows, there could be some interesting things in there.

The earliest version of the game seems to be from the US PlayStation Magazine Demo Disc #16 listed above. I’ve been writing about the unused pictures, audio, and item names at The Cutting Room Floor, which were obtained using the file extraction program. The wiki page for that research is here:

I have updated the original file extractor, so it now works with ISO images directly and supports few more game versions.
