Easy to use presets let you quickly choose scan settings that are optimized for whatever you are scanning. Simply place your content on the scanner, select a preset, and click the Scan button.

HP Easy Scan uses the Apple ICA scan protocol and will work with any HP device that is supported by an ICA scan driver. Make sure that you have installed the latest HP ICA driver for your product — available online from www.hp.com/support or via Apple Software Update.

Scan works with wireless

If you have issues with not finding the scanner, I suggest removing previous scanner from the system preferences. Then add the scanner again. If it says that the file has malware, click on the Show in Finder, and remove the HP folder completely. Try adding the printer/scanner again, it should ask to download and install the latest version. Go ahead download it. Once it completes, select the printer. Look for the Name, Location, and Use dropdown. On the Use dropdown, do not use the default AirPrint, instead select the name of the printer/scanner. Add it. Go back to HP Easy Scan and select the scanner. The scanner should be working now.

If that doesn’t work, best bet is connecting the USB. Its quite a hassle but at least it works.

My only assumption is that the app doesn’t support the AirPrint driver and only a matter of time until the app is phased out to HP Smart. That is a complete mess itself.

HP Easy Scan Saved the Day

I downloaded HP Easy Scan to my new iMac Pro and once the download completed and the App opened, I went to devices on my computer and clicked on my office ‘HP OfficeJet Pro 8600′ Icon — immediately my computer started downloading a new print driver file. Once completed, a document that I had previously placed on my printer started being scanned. The Easy Scan App reappeared and when the scan completed and displayed in the App, I clicked on «Send» which opened a save window where I selected a Folder for storing all future scans. Delighted, I stacked several documents on my printers from feed and each document was scanned. When completed and I clicked on Save. I went to my computer’ scan folder and there each document had been saved to a separate jpeg. Thanks HP for a great, AND FREE, scan App. It will save me a lot of work back when I used to scan to a USB drive, switch it to my computer, and search HP_Scan directory and hope my document appeared. This is a productivity time saver! Kudos !!

Works for me

I bought a 27 inch iMac 2019 to replace my 2010 which couldn’t be upgraded to the current macOS. I just did the Apple transfer to the new computer and «HP scan» program worked but it was erratic. Got rid of that program, and loaded this «HP Easy Scan» and it works great with my several years old HP OJ Pro 8600 Plus. My only complaint is it didn’t let me hook up to my bought and paid for OCR program. This «HP Easy Scan» program does OCR and it does it fairly well, but I don’t think it does as well as my dedicated OCR program. I don’t know where the OCR is done, and yes, i could scan to image then use my OCR program. But it would be nice if this could call up and directly feed the scan to my OCR program. I’ll go ahead and give it 5 stars because it is quite a bit better than my former «HP Scan» — looks almost the same but is more configurable, and it works on my new computer and OS. I’m using macOS Catalina.

Congrats on being my first review ever on the app store!

This product does not properly handle DNS resolution. It tampers with it. SRV lookups don’t work, CNAME lookups are changed to A records. DNS responses come from incorrect addresses, etc. Stay away and get a product that actually works. F5 / Palo Alto / Cisco / Fortinet / Pulse Secure / OpenVPN / ANYTHING ELSE. This product is not worth the headache.

Update: the latest update (1.2.0) fixes the dns resolution issues, but simulatenously breaks all tcp connections so it is now completely unusable. Does Citrix test this client at all? It seems the answer is no.

Update: This app is so full of bugs, that at this point they don’t even detail what they fix in each release outside of ‘bug fixes’. We’ve given up on this vpn product and have moved on.

Causing Major Issues. Prompts to Upgrade when you’re using a different Citrix Program

I received prompts to update my “Citrix”…come to find out it was for the SSO and Workspace. and I do not even have this app installed. I currently use the Citrix Receiver and for a totally different purpose than the reviews below. It is a necessary and crucial part of my work day.

This “Update” caused major issues on my Mac…and after uninstalling it and then reinstalling my Citrix Receiver…it is now preventing me from printing from within my Citrix Receiver program. Would love to know how to block this notification so I do not receive it again, nor make this mistake again….and to prevent others from making a similar error.

Lastly, even with it uninstalled now… I am currently still receiving the same prompts to Update multiple times a day. The only choices are to click “Remind me later” or “Install”…. there is no “Ignore» or “Do Not Remind Me Again” or “Stop the Madness” options. So, I click on the red X to remove it from my screen and it continues to come back over and over.

Upgrade does not work in MAC environment

Latest upgrade for MAC IOS and Citrix are not compatiable. I work in healthcare and we use Citrix to work remotely. Have never had an issue in 6 years until now. I am no longer able to work remoitely using Citrix on my MAC laptop and MAC desktop. Heard other doctors report they regret upgrading because we lost our ability to connect. Being asked to launch download files that open up random notes application. Our IT department said they cannot do anything about this because latest MAC and CITRIX are no longer compatiable. UGH.

Too Basic

This review is for the Brother iPrint&Scan 8.0 scanning utility which I’m using with a newly purchased Brother HL-L2395DW scanner/printer.
I’m using it on an iMac over a wifi connection and it does work, but the lack of anything but the most basic scanning features is pretty disappointing.

The most egregious of these misses is the inability to run a quick preview scan and then specify the scanning area with a bounding box before hitting the final Scan button. If you’re scanning anything other than a standard-size page, you will need to scan at the largest page size (8.5×11) and then crop what you want using another application, such as Apple’s built-in Preview app. This means it will take extra time to scan and extra time to edit the result. Even the 20-year-old Epson this printer replaced provided a preview/crop feature, as has every other scanning software I’ve ever used in the past 30 years.
If you’re only ever scanning documents it’s serviceable, but anything else such as an odd sized photo or drawing, it’s a drag.

Oh brother.

This Brother iPrint & Scan app (version 8.0.0) is terrible. Firstly, it sometimes connects to my brand new Brother printer, MFC-L5850DW via network and other times disconnects itslelf. It’s a very buggy app via network connection. However with USB, it doesn’t. So the wireless feature is useless. Secondly, you can’t precrop a scanned image like any other scanning app where you first see the scan and then crop what you desirably want. That means if you have anything that is not in Letter size, you’ll have to crop manually. What a time waster, honestly. Thirdly, the colors of the scan with this app is not true to the image. Seriously, I tested under various setting and the color was never right. For mac users, just stick to the scanning utility in your default printing settings. You’ll save the time AND the headache. Please update the app to support reliable network connection, cropping feature, and better color correction.

Fall Down Simple to Use

I have been using a Samsung for the past 8 years and have been very satisfied with it. But it is harder to maintain than this one was to set up. And, it never worked printing from WIFI or my iPhone, though it claimed to. Maybe it was just not ready for prime time. This one is. The daughter wanted the old home office printer to take to work. I bought this one to replace it. It is a Brother HL-3290CDW. I set it up in the kitchen, it acquired the WIFI. I prepared the ink, very easily. Moved it to the office to connected the USB cable. Finished the setup and found I could print from anywhere in the house via the WIFI, with smart phones, iPhones, tablets, and notebook computers. Not a single problem. I would have given it five stars, but I have not tried the OCR feature yet, nor read the manual. I had one surprise, it printed double-sided and very fast. This a very good simple all in one printer, copier and more.
