Стоковые обои iOS 13, macOS Catalina и Mac Pro Display XDR

На мероприятии WWDC 2019 были представлены сразу два новых обновления для операционных систем устройств Apple: iOS 13 и macOS Catalina. Сразу после окончания презентации, где также показали новую iPadOS, пользователям стали доступны первые бета-сборки.

Для macOS Catalina доступно два изображения, на которых показан остров в Тихом океане Санта-Каталина. С приходом Mojave изображения в Mac стали динамическими, которые изменяются в зависимости от времени суток, однако в этот раз, как и в iOS 13, они зависят от выбора темы: тёмной или светлой.

Чтобы обои Mac отображались как динамические, необходимо загрузить файл .heic, а после добавить его на боковую панель опции «Рабочий стол и заставка» в настройках. При переключении между светлой и тёмной темой заставка автоматически меняется.

Загрузить обои новых версий iOS и macOS, а изображения с Mac Pro Display XDR, можно с «Google Диска».

35 стандартных обоев OS X и macOS в разрешении 5K (+ бонус 6K macOS Big Sur)

Apple выпускала каждую новую версию своей операционной системы macOS (OS X) с новыми обоями рабочего стола. Вы можете скачать все стандартные обои OS X и macOS в разрешении 5K и 6K по ссылкам ниже.

Последние macOS Mojave и Catalina поставляются с обоями высокого разрешения, которые можно использовать на 5K-дисплеях, для macOS Big Sur в открытом доступе уже появились обои в разрешении 6K. Обои в более старых версиях имеют относительно низкое разрешение и использовать их на больших современных экранах нормально не получится. В мире дисплеев 5K они имеют весьма низкое количество точек на единицу площади.

Дизайнер @forgottentowel воссоздал стандартные обои на рабочий стол в формате 5K и 6K для всех версий macOS, начиная с OS X 10.0 Cheetah до macOS Catalina и macOS Big Sur. Вы можете использовать их практически на любом мониторе без проблем в качестве фона.

Разрешение 5K превосходит стандарт 4K на 77% по информационной ёмкости. Также они в 7 раз больше FullHD (1080p).

Обратите внимание, что разрешение 5K ниже разрешения монитора Retina 6K Pro Display XDR (6016х3384 пикселей). Использовать эти обои на новом мониторе Apple можно, но качество картинки может быть ниже ожидаемого. Исключением являются обои для macOS Catalina и macOS Big Sur — они имеют разрешение 6016×6016 пикселей и отлично выглядят на Pro Display XDR. А к концу 2020 — началу 2021 года ждем новый iMac на процессоре Apple и новой macOS Big Sur с дисплеем Retina 6K.

Также можно установить их на Windows, чтобы получить обои как на макбуке или iMac.

Apple использовала одинаковые обои рабочего стола по умолчанию в OS X Cheetah и Puma. Фактически, вплоть до OS X 10.4 Tiger, компания использовала слегка модифицированную версию Aqua.

Yesterday afternoon we rounded up all of the new wallpapers in iOS 13, which includes a total of eight new images. macOS 10.15 Catalina also includes a new wallpaper, and you can download it below.

macOS 10.15 includes one new wallpaper, but it’s available in light and dark themes. It’s not currently a fully dynamic wallpaper, but it does adhere to your Mac’s Dark Mode or Light Mode setting. The macOS 10.15 preview on Apple’s website, however, shows the new wallpaper as being fully dynamic – so expect that to come with a future beta release of the operating system.

macOS 10.15 Catalina is named after Santa Catalina Island in southern California and Apple’s new wallpaper is a gorgeous shot of that location. This is the original file, extracted directly from macOS 10.15 by a user on Reddit.

To have this wallpaper appear as a “Dynamic Desktop” option in System Preferences, download the .heic file from here. Then, create a new folder in Finder, and drag that folder to the sidebar of the “Desktop & Screensaver” option in System Preferences. Now, when you switch your Mac between the built-in light and dark themes, the wallpaper will automatically change.

We’ve also uploaded both of the individual light and dark wallpapers, as well. So if you want to pick one on your own, you can also do that.

Get the MacOS Catalina Default Wallpapers

MacOS Catalina includes a gorgeous set of new wallpapers as the default desktop background, appropriately of Catalina Island in California.

But you don’t need to install macOS Catalina 10.15 beta or wait for the public release to enjoy the lovely wallpaper, you can grab the image right now for your desktop enjoyment.

Click the thumbnail images below to open the full size picture into a new tab or browser window, then save that image. The wallpapers are roughly 5120 x 3600 each.

If you’re unfamiliar with setting wallpaper on a Mac or iOS device, you can learn how to change the desktop wallpaper background on a Mac or set an image as wallpaper on iPhone or iPad.

You’ll notice there are two versions of the wallpaper image of Catalina Island, one lighter and one darker, each to match the Light mode and Dark Mode on Mac.

You can also get the full 6K resolution wallpaper and Dynamic Desktop .heic files from this zip file here via iClarified, note that the full resolution 6K images at 6016 x 6016 are around a whopping 36 MB each!

Catalina HEIC is fully dynamic but online in 10.15. in 10.14, you only get light and dark mode.

Yeah that’s the image file used for the background on the macOS Catalina preview page. However, I believe the ones linked above are higher resolution. Plus, the l8nks above include the night version and the HEIC File for the dynamic version (though it only contains two images for now).

So, how do I set the .heic as a dynamic wallpaper? I get the default dark version when selecting the HEIC file, and there are no Dynamic/Light/Dark option in the preference pane.

You have to be running macOS Mojave or later to use dynamic wallpapers.

That being said, save the HEIC file to the in \library\desktop pictures on your mac and then open preferences>desktop & screen saver and select it from the ‘dynamic desktop’ wallpapers section. If you don’t see the ‘dynamic desktop’ section but only ‘desktop pictures’ then chances are you are running a macOS version prior to Mojave.

Also note that the HEIC file included in the first beta of macOS Catalina, posted on several websites and presumably the same file linked here, only includes two images: one for light mode and one for dark mode. It is not yet a fully dynamic wallpaper (those have 16 images), so we’ll probably get the rest of it in a later beta.

I forgot to mention, you also have to make sure it’s set to ‘dynamic’ in the menu to the right of the wallpaper preview near the top of the desktop & screen saver preferences window. Again, if you don’t see this or the dynamic wallpaper section in the desktop preferences you may be running an older version of macOS. Dynamic wallpapers require macOS Mojave or later.

Louie is correct you have to put the Dynamic file into your system folder and then use Dynamic Desktops feature, it work in mac Mojave

macOS 10.15 Catalina brings many new features to the table as well as some drastic changes. For instance, iTunes is not going to ruin your music experience anymore on macOS.

iTunes is dead

iTunes has been around since 2001 and is undoubtedly the most influential music app of the past decade and a half. It changed how the music industry operates digitally. But over the years, it had become bloated, and Spotify had changed the game anyway. Apple is now playing catchup with Apple Music and is saying Goodbye to iTunes. In place of it, macOS Catalina brings new apps, Music, Apple TV, and Podcasts.

Dashboard is dead

iTunes isn’t the only thing being killed. Dashboard, which has been a part of macOS for 14 years since the release of macOS X 10.4 in 2005 is getting a silent death. Much like iTunes, it isn’t a surprise. Dashboard received its last update back in 2011 with macOS X 10.7 Lion.

Since then, Apple’s design philosophies have changed drastically. From 3D photorealistic icons and widgets to a more flat look. The Dashboard widgets just didn’t fit in. In macOS X 10.10 Yosemite, Dashboard was disabled, but users could still access it with a hotkey. That no longer works.

Sidecar

Another tradition at Apple is to see what developers are doing to enhance the user’s experience of using Apple devices and then incorporating those developments as built-in features. While this may not bode well for the developers, it is in the best interests of Apple and the consumers. A feature baked into the OS is always a much better experience than a third-party hack or tool. One such feature is the ability to use your iPad as a secondary display for your mac.

With macOS Catalina, Apple is bringing the functionality to your Mac. They’re calling it Sidecar. Not only can you extend your Mac’s display with Sidecar, but you can also use your Apple Pencil on that tablet to interact with Mac apps such as Final Cut Pro X, Adobe Illustration, and more. Best of all, Sidecar works wirelessly, giving you greater mobility.

Other features

• Apple has redesigned the Photos to give it a more intuitive layout.
• Gatekeeper will now check apps for known security issues.
• Notes now includes a Gallery View and more powerful search and collaboration tools.
• The Reminders app features a redesign that makes it easier to create, organize, and track reminders.
• Apple Watch users can approve security prompts on Mac using the side button on their wearable device.
• Voice Control will let users control their computers with their voice using on-device Siri speech recognition technology.
