How to stream Xbox One games to Windows 10
Want to play your Xbox One games outside of the living room? It’s possible thanks to Windows 10 as long as you’re in the same network as your Xbox One. It’s really simple. Watch our quick how-to video to see how it works on our Surface Pro 3 running Windows 10.
- Enable game streaming on your Xbox One. Go to Settings >Preferences and check Allow game streaming to other devices.
- Launch the Xbox app on your Windows 10 PC and tap or click Connect on the left pane.
- Select your console from the list and tap or click Connect.
- Attach your Xbox One controller to your Windows 10 machine via a USB cable.
- Tap or click Stream.
That’s it! We still prefer to play on bigger screens but it’s nice to know that we have the option to play our Xbox games in the backyard without taking our console away from the living room.
While you’re streaming, there’s a toolbar on top with a few options. You can click the Xbox logo to go home, turn on or off the microphone, and stop the stream.
The hamburger button shows an overlay with network bandwidth statics that can be very useful to troubleshoot your stream. Perhaps the most interesting setting is found in the last button, which lets you to change the bandwidth speed of the stream.

Halo: MCC’s live service elements make it better, not worse
Halo: The Master Chief Collection is more popular than ever, but some fans don’t agree with the live service approach 343 Industries has taken with it. Here’s why those elements are, at the end of the day, great for the game and for Halo overall.
Microsoft’s Surface Duo is not ‘failing up’
Microsoft announced this week that it was expanding Surface Duo availability to nine new commercial markets. While Surface Duo is undoubtedly a work in progress, this is not a sign of a disaster. It’s also doesn’t mean that Surface Duo is selling a ton either. Instead, the reason for the expansion is a lot more straightforward.

Microsoft Store.
XboxGameStreaming-ContentTest_1.2011.301.0_neutral» и скачиваем его.
Microsoft Store:
C:\Windows\System32
Xbox Game Streaming
Game streaming from XBox Series X to Windows 10
Received my XBox Series X today, this is my first XBox. I can’t get local game streaming from the XBox to my Windows 10 PC to work. On this site, MS claims that game streaming only works with XBox One, not Series X, when using the companion app. Having tried it nevertheless, it tells me the XBox wouldn’t be set up correctly. However, it works with the iOS XBox app.
I also tried the «new» Windows 10 app, but fail to discover any option for local game streaming. I have Game Pass Ultimate, but guess that shouldn’t matter for local streaming?
Did they really cut this feature from XBox Series X/Windows 10? Help would be much appreciated.

Oddly enough remote play on my Android Xbox app works fine. So I can play remotely from my phone but not from a PC. Sounds like someone forgot to sort the windows app.
Yeah, it also works on iOS. Very disappointed of the lack of Windows 10 support.

I have the same problem. The streaming to Win-10 PC worked a-ok with the previous console (Xbox one X), game streaming is enabled in Settings -> Devices & Connections -> Remote features.
— Enable remote features checkbox checked
— Test remote play shows all green
— Upstream bandwidth: Over 9 Mbps
— Network latency: Less than 60 ms
— Network type: Wired
— Outbound port: Open
— Xbox app preferences, the following are checked
— Allow connections from any device
— Allow Play To streaming
I am using alternate manual port 50110 because I have several xboxes in my network, initial port setting 51110 stated Strict NAT, 50110 shows Open NAT.
Win-10 Xbox Console Companion ‘Test streaming -> Start test’ shows red for every bandwidth

I am ENORMOUSLY disappointed in the absence of this feature, to the degree I am considering connecting my old Xbox and disconnecting my Series X. I am worried about the vagueness of the response to this which implies to me this won’t be added for months. I spend a huge amount of time in the games I play working with spreadsheets next to the game window on my PC.

Particularly sad how MS stresses that it does work using the app on competing platforms. (I have no interest in using my iPad Mini for game streaming instead of my 4k PC monitor on Windows 10 just b/c MS is unable to properly support their own operating system, sigh).

They updated it, looks like they are NOT going to support it and it was removed on purpose.
- Remote Play on Windows 10
- Known Issue: Console streaming to a Windows 10 device from an Xbox Series X|S will not work through the Xbox Console Companion app.
- Workaround: This feature is only supported through an Xbox One generation device. You can currently stream from an Xbox Series X|S console to an Android or iOS device via the Xbox app. Keep an eye on News.Xbox.com for any updates on further support for additional platforms like PC.
WHY. Why remove a feature tons of people use? Why make your flagship product less useful than the gen before it? This makes no sense.
How to stream the Xbox One to Windows 10
One of the coolest gaming features packed into Windows 10 is the Xbox app. It lets you remotely access your Xbox One console and stream games to a Windows 10 PC. This comes in handy when everyone is watching a boring movie on the living room TV where your Xbox One is connected, but you’d rather play Metro Exodus or Tom Clancy’s The Division 2.
So how does it work? In this guide we show you how to stream the Xbox One to Windows 10.
With Microsoft’s method, you absolutely cannot “officially” stream your Xbox One console over the internet like the PlayStation 4. As we’ve seen with Sony’s console, playing across the internet can produce quality and latency issues, sometimes to the point where streaming just isn’t worth the effort. This is why Steam and Microsoft chose to lock game streaming to your local network.
However, there is a method to stream the Xbox One to a Windows 10 PC across the internet, but it requires knowing how to access your router’s control panel and how to edit the settings. We provide those instructions at the end.
Use Ethernet or Wireless AC
For the best results, stream the Xbox One across your local network using a wired Ethernet connection. Of course, not everyone wants Ethernet cables strung across the house, as it’s visually ugly, even when draped along the walls and corners. The plus side with all these cables is that you won’t see the performance dips associated with wireless connectivity.
If Ethernet isn’t an option, fall back on a Wireless AC 5GHz access point. A mesh network is good due to the way it creates a blanket of connectivity versus the standard router that broadcasts from one point like a radio tower. A Wireless N 5GHz connection works as well, but you’ll see limited performance using a 2.4GHz connection on either network.
Microsoft also suggests using Powerline adapters as an alternative to wired connections. You need at least two units that plug directly into your wall’s power outlets to create a network connection through the electrical system. One unit can then plug into your modem or router via an Ethernet cable while the other unit plugs into the Ethernet port on the Xbox One. Unfortunately, Powerline technology heavily depends on your home’s wiring and breaker box, thus you may see better results using wireless connectivity instead.
Finally, you can plug an Xbox One controller into your Windows 10 PC to play games remotely. You can also plug a headset into your Windows 10 PC and communicate as usual with your Xbox One friends.
Let’s begin our guide on how to stream the Xbox One to Windows 10!

7. Enable the Allow connections from any device or Only from profiles signed in on this Xbox setting found under Other devices. You’re done on the console side. Now let’s move on to Windows 10.
