Stuck on windows logo screen after reboot

Thank you for posting in the Microsoft Community.

I understand that your computer is stuck in the Windows logo screen after the reboot when you tried to install Windows 8. I shall be happy to help you with this issue.

I request you to give some more information so that it would help us in assisting you in a better way.
1) What security software is installed on your computer?

I suggest that you try the following steps mentioned below

Method 1
Disconnect all the hardware devices like printer or scanner connected to your computer. Restart the computer once and then check the progress of the installation.

Method 2
Disable any security software installed on your computer and then try installing Windows 8 again.

You can also download and run the Upgrade Assistant to Windows 8 from the following link mentioned below:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-8/upgrade-to-windows-8

When you run Upgrade Assistant, it scans your apps and connected devices, and provides a compatibility report that lists your apps and devices that will work in Windows 8, those that might not work, and what you can do to get them working again after you upgrade. If some of your apps and devices aren’t listed, it might be because we don’t have compatibility info for that product yet.

Please reply if you have any further queries regarding the issue that you are having and we will be happy to assist you further.

Stuck at Windows Logo with no spinning dogs

I have been trying to fix my computer for about a month (no success) and i tried booting up my computer and all it gave me was the blue windows logo with no spinning dots. It worked a few hours ago but now it doesnt work.

Mobo: Asus H81M-E

Processor: Intel i5(4th gen)

Cpu fan: came with the processor

GPU: Nvidia 1060 GTX

Hard Drive: WDC WD10EARX-00N0YB0

Hopefully that can help with anything

Start your PC, just as Windows attempts to load (spinning dots), press and hold Power Button for 5 — 10 seconds to perform a Hard Shut Down

On the third start Windows will boot into the Recovery Environment and from there you can access System Repair, Safe Mode, Command Prompt . . . etc.

Please try each option one at a time, then see of Windows will boot . . .

Go to Troubleshoot — Advanced Option — Startup Repair
See if Windows startup can repair itself

Go to Troubleshoot — Advanced Option — System Restore
Check to see if you have a restore point you can go back to

If you do not have a Restore Point, go to Troubleshoot — Advanced Option — Startup Settings and click Restart
Upon restart, press 4 to enter Safe Mode
Once in Safe Mode, backup your data if you do not already have a backup
Open Device Manager and check to make sure all your Drivers are up to date
Reboot to see if Windows will start Normally

If the above fails, go to Troubleshoot — Advanced Options — Reset this PC
Choose to keep your files and apps, just your files or to keep nothing
Then start the Reset

Power on and off your computer three times
On the third time, your computer will boot into the Advanced Recovery environment
Click Advanced Options
Click Troubleshoot
Click Advanced Options

Click System Restore, see if you can go back to an earlier time.

If not, boot into the recovery environment again, then try performing a startup repair.

If that does not work, boot into the recovery environment, then click ‘Go back to previous version of Windows’

If that does not work.

Go to a working computer, download, create a bootable copy, then perform a clean install.

Go to a working computer, download, create a bootable copy, then perform a clean install.

Step 1: How to download official Windows 10 ISO files
http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki.

Review the following guide for instructions and details about configuring your BIOS or UEFI boot settings for DVD, CD, USB or SD Card.

BIOS/UEFI Setup Guide: Boot from a CD, DVD, USB Drive or SD Card
https://www.groovypost.com/howto/bios-uefi-setu.

Once your computer is set to boot from the DVD, you should see this option. If you are installing from a retail Windows 10 USB thumb drive, you will be asked to select either 32 or 64 bit Windows 10. Learn more here https://www.groovypost.com/howto/choose-windows.

The Windows logo will appear on screen, this might be here for a while, as long as you see the animating dots, everything should be ok.

Select your Language, Time and Keyboard method then click Next.

Click Install now

Windows 10 setup will prompt you for a product key during installation a couple times. If you originally upgraded from Windows 7 or Windows 8/8.1 click the option ‘I don’t have a key’ and ‘Do this later’ . If you have a Windows 10 product key, you can proceed to enter it.

Setup will also prompt you to select the edition you have a license for — Home or Pro. Please make sure you choose the right edition. If you choose the wrong edition, your only option will be to perform a clean install again.

The copy of Windows 10 you download and upgrade from will correspond with the edition of Windows you have installed, if it does not, this is why you might be experiencing problems activating:

Windows 7 Starter, Home Basic, Home Premium, Windows 8.0 Core, Windows 8.1 Core should install Windows 10 Home

Windows 7 Professional, Windows 7 Ultimate, Windows 8.0 Pro, Windows 8.1 Pro should install Windows 10 Pro

Wait while setup prepares to copy files

Accept the license terms then click Next

Click Custom: Install Windows only (advanced)

NOTE: Sometimes Windows 10 setup can become confused if it see’s a thumb drive. You might get a driver missing error or something to that effect. If you do, restart setup, but this time, when you arrive at the following screen, disconnect your thumb drive then go through Custom options. When setup is ready copy files, it will prompt you to reconnect the installation source (your USB).

Select the drive then click New

NOTE: If you have multiple partitions listed, select each one (starting at the bottom), then click delete until there is only a single (one) unallocated drive displayed in the window.

Select the unallocated drive listed, click New, click Apply then OK

This will split the drive into multiple partitions, select the Primary partition then click Next.

NOTE: The System Reserved partition is where recovery files are kept for diagnostics and repairing damaged Windows 10 files; or even reinstall Windows 10.

Wait while Windows installs

When this phase of setup is complete, Windows will automatically restart then reboot into setup again.

Windows is detecting and installing your hardware. After this is complete, Windows will restart one last time.

Re:Stuck at windows logo screen

Welcome to the Community Forums.

I believe the priority is saving your pictures and video.

Personally, I would remove the hard drive first (page 47) and have it slaved on another computer even a desktop or external harddrive enclosure to back up everything needed.

Then you can proceed exploring advance boot by forcing the machine turning it on and off 2-3 times when loading up.

Otherwise if all repair option fails then you can do the recovery options here in the user guide (page 30).

I hope this helps answer your query.
