The windows tile color changer

Windows 8.1

Windows Tile Color Changer.

Once you have clicked on Change Tile Color button, you will see a Color successfully changed the message. Visit the Start Screen to see the changes.

The tool changes the color of the Tiles of your desktop software or apps only, and not the Universal Windows apps or System Tools. Again, at times, you may find that the color does not change, even for the desktop app tiles. The developer has yet to find the reason why this happens. If you face this issue, we suggest you move on and try again, maybe the next day. Once the developer finds the reason, he is sure to update this tool.

Then there are some tiles like the Firefox tile, which just do not support changing its color. Similarly, the latest version of Microsoft Office is not supported as the tiles are already custom colored and changing of color functionality has been restricted.

Clicking on the Reset Default button will reset the tile color to its default.

If you wish to uninstall it, you need to simply delete its Program folder, as it is a portable tool.

Thanks for your speedy reply and advice. That’s unfortunate. I found 8.1 far superior to windows 7. I accept that windows 10 is meant to be the best of both worlds with some great improvements and tweeks, but these changes become inadequacies when they don’t give you choice. One step forward, half a step back. I liked the bright different coloured tiles on 8.1.

Having all the tiles be the same colour blue (other than a few Bing or Xbox related ones) is pretty boring.

Now even all the apps in Microsoft office are the same colour blue as well.

It would be much more fun being able to colour co-ordinate your favourites! or different groups of tiles windows apps one colour, nero another colour, Office another colour etc.

If anyone comes up with a solution to allow tile colour to be determined by the users please let me know.

Change the tile color of Windows applications with this intuitive application that allows users to manually insert color HEX codes

Windows Tile Color Changer is designed to help users in easily modifying the look of their Start Screen. Both the foreground color and the icon text can be modified.

A great resource with wonderful results

Beautiful simplicity is one of the pillars of this application. Although it has only function, the results can really be good. Dealing with those dull default colors can brighten up the screen, and improve the overall Windows experience.

The program can also enable or disable the foreground text. When users are already familiarized with their applications, the name of the software is really redundant. If, however, the foreground text is spared, there is also an option to change its color.

There are twelve tile colors to choose from, but a very nice feature is that manual input of color HEX codes is supported. Thus, setting a background color like “AntiqueWhite” (#FAEBD7) is possible, even though it is not one of those twelve visible items.

This is a very nice hidden touch, that opens up a new universe of customization. Given the great number of HEX codes available, one could hardly find no color match for their wishes.

A well-suited interface, complete with tips

The GUI is very simple and geared towards efficiency. There is a welcome message, complete with program description and some tips.

There are only two buttons, one for applying the modifications and one for resetting to default. Thus, changes can quickly be undone.

An overall easy to use resource, with very nice results

Windows Tile Color Changer is a simple program, but with very appealing results. Users of all levels of knowledge and experience will find it a breeze to use!
