Thief: Deadly Shadows – стелс-экшен от третьего лица, действие которого разворачивается в средневековом антураже. Антагонист – Гарретт, настоящий профессионал своего дела. Нет такого дома, который он бы не смог ограбить. В его распоряжении обширный арсенал средств и оружий, с помощью которых можно взламывать замки, оглушать охрану и даже карабкаться по стенам. Украденные ценности можно продавать, и тратить на усовершенствования, также растёт репутация преступника.

Третья часть в серии преподносит новый, богатый сюжет, улучшенную графику и опции геймплея. Обработка теней сделала их динамичными и правдоподобными – они могут помочь в прохождении уровня. Картинка стала более чёткой, мимика персонажей проработана на высочайшем уровне, вплоть до шевеления губами во время разговора. ИИ также был модернизирован: охрана стала более внимательной, они анализируют улики и больше не нуждаются в визуальном контакте с вором – им достаточно шороха или звука шагов, чтобы насторожиться.

Помимо сюжета, можно заниматься воровским ремеслом в режиме песочницы – огромный интерактивный город с сотнями зданий и NPC с которыми можно взаимодействовать. Благодаря проработанной механике, каждый эпизод получается непохожим на предыдущие, и требует индивидуального подхода.

Thief: Deadly Shadows «патч для широкоэкранных мониторов»

Данный патч позволит выставить практически любое разрешение в игре, вплоть до 1920х1200 и выше, и исправит пропорции экрана и последующие вылеты при загрузке сохраненных игр и переходе между миссиями. Работоспособность проверялась на Windows XP и Windows 7 x64.
1)Если у вас английская (общеевропейская) версия, сначала необходимо установить официальный патч 1.1. В версии от Нового диска этот патч уже установлен.
2)Запускаем игру 1 раз и тут же выходим
3)Находим папку сохранений игры, а в ней — файл options.ini:
Для Windows XP — C:\Documents and Settings\\My Documents\Thief — Deadly Shadows\SaveGames\User Options\options.ini
Для Vista/Win7 — C:\Users\Public\Documents\Thief — Deadly Shadows\SaveGames\User Options\options.ini
4)В файле options.ini найдите строчку resolution=2 — обычно после «равно» стоит значение 2, меняем его на resolution=-1
5)Скачайте архив и распакуйте в папку System установленной игры (например D:\Games\Thief 3\System)
6)Запустите распакованный файл T3FovPatch.exe и поменяйте пропорции экрана в игре (можно вводить как прямые пропорции вроде 16:9, так и напрямую разрешение если не знаете пропорций, например 1920х1080)
7)Запустите файл t3_widescreen.exe и в появившемся окне жмем клавишу «С» и «Enter» (это исправит вылеты во время загрузок)

Еще одна часть культовой серии Thief, классифицируемая как стелс-экшен или шутер от первого лица. Как и в предыдущих частях, игрок становится средневековым вором Гарретом, настоящим мастером своего дела, но история, рассказываемая игрой, напрямую не связана с тем, что мы видели в первых двух итерациях Thief. Это связано с тем, что авторы, Ion Storm (разработчики, например, Deus Ex и Deus Ex: Invisible War), и издатель, Eidos Interactive, хотели, чтобы Thief: Deadly Shadows для ПК и XBX привлекал новых игроков без опыта с франшизой, и в то же время оправдать ожидания давних фанатов.

Теперь, совершенно один, без друзей и союзников, он должен спасти свой город от неминуемой опасности и найти выход из этой интриги.

И снова игроков, управляющих Гарретом, ожидает захватывающее приключение и то, что им больше всего нравится (что является залогом успеха серии), а именно: проникновение в различные замки, тюрьмы, подземелья, музеи и соборы, крадущееся в темноте, оглушение охраняет и крадет множество сокровищ. Игра разделена на серию миссий, которые можно выполнить несколькими способами. Наш герой — очень опытный и хорошо обученный вор; он может взбираться практически на любую стену, бесшумно красться и отлично использовать нож, лук (с несколькими типами стрел) и другие воровские/бесшумные приспособления для убийства.

Большой новинкой и изменением, представленным в этой части, является механизм, называемый «осознанием тела», с помощью которого игрок может видеть руки своего героя и, таким образом, лучше контролировать то, что он делает, будь то открытие замков или лазание (мы видим последующие выступы — точки опоры — например, в стене). Большими преимуществами Thief: Deadly Shadows для ПК и XBX являются также его графический движок, поддерживающий специальные системы освещения и затенения (также используемые в Deus Ex: Invisible War), физика, обеспечиваемая движком Havok второго поколения, и выполнение очень Важную роль играет система объемного звука, позволяющая игроку распознавать направление, с которого приближается охранник, и поверхность, по которой он идет (например, ковер или камень). Что до игрового процесса. так он в Thief 3: Deadly Shadows потерпел немало изменений. Хотя, в целом игра осталась прежней и предлагает игрокам делать то же самое, что и раньше. То есть, вы снова будете выполнять разнообразные задания, которыми обычно предполагается похищение того или иного предмета с проникновением на защищенный объект. Правда, задания теперь стали куда более сложными, искусственный интеллект был доработан, а сами враги теперь реалистично реагируют на любые признаки присутствия Гарретта.

Самое же главное достоинство новой игры заключается в том, что мир теперь стал куда более обширным, живым, реалистичным и открытым. Всего же теперь мир поделен на пять огромных локаций, районов, каждый из которых по-своему уникален.

А еще вас ждет огромное количество разнообразных гаджетов, различное вооружение, и не только. Гаррет может оглушать врагов, подкрадываясь к ним сзади, использовать кинжал или дубинку, метать во врагов газовые бомбы, и даже святую воду. Кстати, последнее пригодится в сражениях с зомби, с которыми теперь тоже придется столкнуться далеко не в одной миссии.

Thief: Deadly Shadows is not working with windows 10. (NOW SOLVED!)

I have installed Windows 10 recently, and the game Thief: Deadly Shadows stopped to work, hanging on all 8 threads at 100% CPU. Tried both to install DirectX 9 and 9.0c but the game still crashes. Tried to run the operating system with a single core, tried run the game in XP SP2 compatibility mode (and any other compatiblities), no luck. Help!

I appreciate the effort made towards trying to fix the issue. I would suggest you to place the computer in clean boot state and check.

To help troubleshoot error messages and other issues, you can start Windows by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This kind of startup is known as a «clean boot.» A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

Placing your system in Clean Boot state helps in identifying if any third party applications or startup items are causing the issue. You need to follow the steps from the article mentioned below to perform a Clean Boot.

Note : Refer «How to reset the computer to start normally after clean boot troubleshooting» to reset the computer to start as normal after troubleshooting.

If the issue still persists, I would suggest you to contact the game developer for further assistance.

Just tried this and it didn’t work. What now? Browsing through the Internet I have read that it could be a DX 12 issue at 90% of possibilities. The game developers can’t help anymore since the Ion Storm team unluckily failed, so I can’t contact them at all.

Update: tried to install previous versions of Direct X (respectively 9.x, game needed and co-working with DX 12), no results.

Nobody of Microsoft helps. well, goodbye Windows 10. what a fail. I’ll get back to Windows 8.1

The game is not compatible with Windows 10. You’ve already tried compatibility mode and it didn’t work, so that’s the end of the line.

False, don’t tell lies if you even don’t know the game.

Anyway, found the issue: the free update to Windows 10 from Windows Updates makes some mess with drivers. So all we can do in order to run Thief: Deadly Shadows properly on Windows 10 is downloading the iso image from the Microsoft page and installing the operating system from scratch with a memory stick or a DVD, instead of just updating it from 7 — 8 — 8.1 , even though there’s an issue on the brightness setting on the game (not able to modify it).

I can consider this question solved now.

— I gather you are not using the retail disk version as reinstalling Win10 ‘clean’ would

not help with the issue below, but for others who read this thread.

The retail disk version of Thief 3 Deadly Shadows (and Thief 2 ) is victim of the MS malware DRM Blocking.

The games uses SecuROM copy protection. Any old disk based game with the file titled — secdrv.sys —

on the disk will be blocked by this MS malware. I have full details of DRM Blocking in my rant —here—

DX12 does not enter into the equation. Win10 has all DirectX versions from DX9 on, and the game selects

which DirectX file it requires, not Windows.

— I’m not sure if DirectX is complete when using a ‘clean’ install of Win10 as mine is an ‘upgrade’, so it

may benefit to run the DirectX Web Installer when using a ‘Clean’ install of Win10

btw — There is no benefit using the old DX9.0c installer. This installer was made redundant with

the DirectX Redist (June 2010) installer.

The old DX9.0c installer does not have the most recent DX9 files.

The DX redist (June 2010) includes the ‘new’ DX9/10/11 files, eg- d3dx9_42.dll etc, as well as all

of the earlier DX9 files . This installer is the best option when a DirectX file gets corrupted

(which happens at times when games reinstall DX ).

I also had this issue with Thief 2 when the software (Color Profile Keeper) I use to set my monitors

color profile ( icc profile) is enabled.

If I disable Color Profile Keeper the gamma/brightness control will work.

You may have a similar software that prevents the game from doing it’s own thing with colour ?

Call of Duty is one other game that I am aware of with this issue, but there are likely more.

Before the 1511 Win10 update. I needed to use ‘disable display scaling on high DPI settings’ Compatibility

on Thief 2, but since that update I’ve not needed any Compatibility settings.

Uh! This is interesting! But please take in mind that Thief: Deadly Shadows is NOT Thief 2: the first one works on a hacked version of the Unreal engine, while the second one has its own Dark engine: in other terms they are two completely different games. For the sake of common knowledge you could instal TDS trying the solution you propose and telling the result. I don’t have much time, otherwise I’d do it.

\No Color Profile Keeper were installed in my Windows 10.

Trier the ‘disable display scaling on high DPI settings’ but that didnt’ the trick.

You can solve it by following the following steps

1. Set the compatibility to windows XP or Service Pack 1

2. Run the app. When the intro window appears minimize the app by clicking the windows key on the keyboard or alt tab

3. Press ctrl+alt+delete to bring up the task manager

4. Go to the application Thief and right click it and click «Go to details» this will take you to the process

5. Right click on the process Thief and click affinity

6. set the affinity to just one core. By default all cores are selected. You can choose any core you like. I start with core 0 and change it to different cores everytime i start the game. Click ok and exit task bar,.

7. click the minimized game icon in the task bar. Play Thats it.

Note: after maximizing the app again the graphics may come all screwed up like pinkish or some other color. Just continue and start your game. It’ll start fine. Only thing when you use the map or you get notifications on the top of the screen they’ll be barely readable and split into two. That’s the only problem but you’ll be able to play the game. This happens only because we have to minimize the app and then set core affinity. If there was a way to permanently set the affinity that would solve all problems. But i’ve been searching everything and it seems all the ways to do that on windows doens’t work on windows 10. Sheesh. what can you do? If you find a way to set core affinity permanently on «Windows 10» let me know. I did this with Thief2.
