Most likely not. Drivers are provided by the internal hardware manufacturers and if they don’t support the hardware, then there will be no drivers for it.

As Windows 10 progresses through the various builds, MS has provided more drivers so windows update might come up with drivers for your machine.

With that said, there are some ways that you can get an older driver to install and give at least partial functionality. You could disable driver signing and force install a driver from an older OS or install a driver in compatibility mode.

I have Windows 10 installed on an X200T and an X301 and was able to get some older drivers installed these ways.

Thinkpad t61 windows 10

Windows 10 64bit works great without hardware limitation on RAM (my old Dell laptop with Intel 945 chipset can only use 3.3GB RAM even 4GB RAM is installed).

All 4GB RAM is usable. T wo unknown drivers in Device Manager but didn’t find any malfunctioned device so far.

For Windows 10, 8, and 7 environments, Lenovo recommends:

Active Protection System works great and is useful. Don’t expect System Update to locate/download/update anything for Win10. Solution Center works fine but doesn’t see any value on old machine like T61.

An alternative is to install Lenovo Companion 3. Iobit Driver Booster is another great choice on driver update.

Thanks ColonelONeill for sharing. Tried the tool which is great that has function to search Microsoft Update Catalog based on Hardware IDs of unknown device(s). I managed to locate drivers on 2 unknown devices (those are Ricoh Memory Stick & xD-Picture Card Controllers). No wonder I didn’t find any mailfunctioned devices.

Very good tool to search for and solve problem on unknown device(s) after upgrading to Windows 10 on relative old machine.

I’ve been using Windows 10 on my T510. I didn’t have any issues with having to do anything after I installed it. I just recently had a issue with the sound not syncing up with Netflix video, and had to figure out that they were not doing any driver updates anymore, and have them on a End OF Life webpage. Most of the drivers were updated up to Win 8. I reinstalled the last Win 8 64 bit driver, and that seemed to clear up the issue. I had to buy a USB Bluetooth dongle to get version 4.0, because the version my motherboard has is 2.1.

It works but the procedure isn’t as simple. To achieve the full Thinkvantage Functionality you would need to obtain a proper Windows 7 license first, then move it up to Windows 10 as per my procedure stated in the other post:
