Операционная система Windows 8, помимо прочих нововведений, изменила и подход к запуску программ: на смену меню Пуск пришёл экран Пуск, а ярлыки для запуска программ теперь представляют собой плитки. Начиная с Windows 8.1 плитки стали разноцветными, однако решение о выборе цвета принимает сама операционная система.

В Windows 10 экран Пуск снова был преобразован в меню Пуск, однако цветные плитки сохранились.

Программа «Смена цвета фона плиток» позволяет изменить цвет плитки, а также настроить некоторые другие её параметры. Для настройки конкретной плитки нужно щёлкнуть по ней правой кнопкой мышки и выбрать пункт «Перейти к расположению файла»:

Запустится программа «Проводник» и ярлык нужной программы будет выделен. Этот ярлык нужно перетащить мышкой в программу «Смена цвета фона плиток»:

После настройки параметров плитки нужно нажать кнопку «Сохранить» и через несколько секунд плитка в меню Пуск изменится. Если эксперименты оказались неудачными, можно вернуться к внешнему виду, определяемому операционной системой, нажав кнопку «Восстановить по умолчанию».

Не все программы поддаются настройке: не получится настроить плитки приложений из Магазина Windows, а также программы, которые сами определяют цвет своих плиток.

Системные требования

Программа рассчитана на работу в операционных системах Windows 10 и 8.1.

Начиная с Windows 10 версии 20H2 (осеннее обновление 2020 года) плитки больше не меняют свой цвет.

But, is there any way to change tile color for certain programs?

Unfortunately, Windows 10 doesn’t provide such capability to change tile color individually, but a lightweight app named Windows Tile Color Changer could solve this problem.

How to change tile color for a specific program

Time Needed : 3 minutes

In this guide, you will learn how to change tile color for a specific program using Windows Tile Color Changer. This app should be work on Windows 10 and Windows 8/8.1.

Download Windows Tile Color Changer here. Extract the archive and launch the program.

Go to the Change Color tab.

Select an Application you want to change its tile. Make sure the app has been in the Start Menu.

If you see this message, the tile has changed. Click OK to continue.

Head to the Start Menu and see the new color of tiles!

If you want to revert it back, just select the app and Reset Defaults.

According to my test, the color remains intact although you close the Windows Tile Color Changer program. This should be good news for users since it doesn’t have to run in the background or slowing down the startup process.

Please note that this app is not perfect (yet). Some programs like Microsoft Office and Firefox restrict changing color so you can’t modify the tile of these programs. The majority of programs should be work perfectly nonetheless.

How to change tile color for desktop apps on Windows 10

UWP apps have not been able to replace desktop apps. It’s been years since they were introduced and some of the most popular Windows 10 apps are still desktop versions. This is mainly because most apps are constrained with the UWP platform. Since they refuse to port to the UWP platform, they have some odd restrictions. There are apps that let you change the tile for a UWP app but if you want to change the tile color for desktop apps, you have to do it manually. Here’s how.

Tile color for desktop apps

Open the apps’ list in the Start Menu and look for the desktop app that you want to change the tile color for. Right-click it and select More>Open File Location from the context menu.

This will open File Explorer and there will be a shortcut to the app in the folder it opens to. Right-click this shortcut and again, select Open File Location from the context menu.

Next, open a new Notepad file and paste the following in it. You need to make an edit to this in order to set the color for the tile.

Change the #ffffff to the HEX value for the color you want to use. Save this file with the following name;

Make sure that Notepad saves the file as an XML file and not as a TXT file. Save it to the location you opened in File Explorer earlier. You can alternatively save it to your desktop and copy it to the folder.

Next, return to the Start Menu and go to the apps’ list. Again, look for the same app, right-click it, and select More>Open file location. In the location that opens, rename the app’s shortcut to anything. It doesn’t matter much what you name it because you have to change the name back to whatever it was before. The rename forces Windows 10 to refresh the tile icon.

Once you’ve renamed the file, and named it back to what it originally was, open the Start Menu and the tile will show the new color that you’ve set. This color will not change when you change the accent color on Windows 10. You can change it to anything else by editing the XML file you created, and you can delete the XML file to force the tile to start showing the default accent color.

No you cant change color of individual tiles. However you can change background color by going to Settings>Personalization>Colors.

Thanks for your speedy reply and advice. That’s unfortunate. I found 8.1 far superior to windows 7. I accept that windows 10 is meant to be the best of both worlds with some great improvements and tweeks, but these changes become inadequacies when they don’t give you choice. One step forward, half a step back. I liked the bright different coloured tiles on 8.1.

Having all the tiles be the same colour blue (other than a few Bing or Xbox related ones) is pretty boring.

Now even all the apps in Microsoft office are the same colour blue as well.

It would be much more fun being able to colour co-ordinate your favourites! or different groups of tiles windows apps one colour, nero another colour, Office another colour etc.

If anyone comes up with a solution to allow tile colour to be determined by the users please let me know.

Доброго времени суток. Перешел на с Windows 8.1 на Windows 10 и не нравится мне одна деталь в новом пуске.

Сейчас все плитки стали одного цвета, а раньше цвет плитки был максимально приближен к цвету иконки. И это было очень удобно и повышало скорость работы. Плюс сами иконки стали меньше в этих плитках.

Сейчас такие плитки только у приложений от Microsoft, можно ли как-нибудь вернуть эту функцию?

Настройка расцветки меню Пуск

Фон подложки в Windows 10 можно изменить так же, как и цвет отдельных плиток. Для этого нажмите ПКМ в любом месте, не занятом пиктограммой и выбрать пункт меню «Персонализация».

В открывшемся окне можно указать цвет фона в меню Пуск, а также изменить некоторые другие параметры. Можно подобрать под себя не только цвет, но и его насыщенность. Пользователь может выбрать уже готовую цветовую схему, или детально настроить ее на свой вкус самостоятельно.

Там настраивается цвет всех плиток, а я бы хотел, чтобы каждая плитка отличалась по цвету. Так было в Windows 8.1
