Toshiba Power Saver is an application tailored to meet the needs of Toshiba laptop owners, boasting comprehensive power management modules that can increase the lifespan of the battery by reducing the performance of the device, but within reason.
Toshiba Power Saver is able to provide a variety of customizations that cover both AC and battery scenarios, with the observation that some of the settings can vary from one notebook model to another, according to the developer.
The program was designed to optimize power schemes so as to extend the life of the battery, by adjusting timeout parameters in favor of reduced power drain. For instance, if you’re away from the computer, you can arrange for the LCD to turn off, which will result in a decreased level of consumption.
Toshiba Power Saver relies on various power saving profiles; you can use the built-in ones (which you can customize) or create new ones, from scratch.
However, the preset schemes cover just about any type of situation you can think of, arranging for optimized behavior in AC mode, with possibilities to switch from full or high power to normal, or to initiate the presentation or the long life mode, which is the most economical of all.
Each of the profiles consists of parameters such as screen brightness, CPU processing speed, cooling method, monitor and HDD power off and system standby. All of these can be adjusted as you please, as long as you’re aware that a compromise between CPU performance and battery life has to be made (more CPU power means lower battery life).
All in all, we think Toshiba Power Saver is a keeper, since it provides so many ways to control the allocation of battery resources for Toshiba notebooks. It’s intuitive, easy-to-use and acts easy on the system’s CPU and RAM.
