Весьма оригинальная, хотя и получившая негативные оценки в редких рецензиях игра в жанре «приключение с мини-играми разного рода», сделанная маленькой командой независимых австрийских разработчиков. В самом начале 1990-х годов, под DOS (хотя была версия и для иной платформы), при этом — как рисованный, но трёхмерный (!) интерактивный мультфильм. Аналогов по как минимум внешнему виду подобрать сложно, и повязать на игру шейный платок с грифом уникальности в этом плане мы имеем полное право.

Он, кстати говоря, придётся ей впору — действие происходит на старом добром Диком Западе. Сюжет на первый взгляд очень условен, но на взгляд второй может показаться, что даже гениален: Town With No Name словно ставит себе задачей показать нам небольшой период из жизни «типичного» искателя приключений тех времён. В самом деле, «человек без лошади» приезжает в «Город без имени», чтобы разделаться с местной бандой с более чем оригинальным названием (его заинтересованным предлагается узнать из игры), а также. просто немного пожить в этом городе, но «по-настоящему», испытав на себе большинство местных реалий.

Обманываться не стоит: перед нами сравнительно короткий мультфильм, который при должной сноровке можно одолеть за несколько десятков минут. Интерактивности не сказать что мало, но и не очень много: в основном вам будут предлагать проследовать в то или иное здание в рамках города (салун, офис шерифа, конюшня. ), где будет предложено совершить те или иные действия. Интереснее всего в салуне: там можно сходить в верхние комнаты, где могут ожидать самые разные сюрпризы, сыграть в карты с барменом, причём в разные игры (хотя смысл всегда сводится к пристальному слежению за конкретной картой, которую повернут рубашкой вверх), заказать у него бокал выпивки и постараться поймать его. Ничто не мешает сменить своё прозвище и попытаться разжиться лошадью — обязательно попробуйте, результат вас точно озадачит.

У игры неожиданный финал, раскрывать который мы, понятное дело, тоже не станем; её нельзя назвать сложной, но погибнуть здесь можно, причём сразу в нескольких местах (а отнюдь не только в финальном поединке) и разными способами. Виртуальный тир, разумеется, тоже присутствует, но поединков будет всего несколько; они совсем короткие, но стрелять надо быстро и точно. Игра ни в коем случае не подойдёт детям — здесь море крови и истинно чёрного, жестокого юмора, который сопровождает протагониста всю игру: от убийства паука в самом начале до анимированных сцен в финале.

Рекомендовать подобное — которое трудно назвать иначе как «obscure» — кому-либо довольно сложно: это истинно артхаусная вещь, которая, скорее всего, будет понята и принята только поклонниками игр-экспериментов. Вместе с тем нельзя не признать и того, что это едва ли не самое реалистичное в сфере цифровых развлечений отображение той давно ушедшей эпохи: ведь на реальном Диком Западе романтики было не так уж и много, зато жестокости — хоть отбавляй.
