Transmission Remote GUI makes use of the remote access function integrated within Transmission and offers you the possibility to control the Bit-Torrent client without having to go through the web console.

Establish a connection with your Transmission installation by using the RPC protocol

To start using the Transmission Remote GUI, you must ensure that the remote access function is active on the host side, and create a connection by providing the remote host address.

For your convenience, Transmission Remote GUI comes with a connections manager, so you can promptly switch between various hosts. At the same time, you have to worry about the setup procedure only once.

The Transmission Remote GUI design resembles other popular torrents downloading utilities, so the purpose of the included tools is somewhat obvious.

Bottom line, you get to add torrent links for downloading and monitor their progress together with various statistical details about peers and trackers within the Transmission Remote GUI main window.

Manage torrents, view tracker details, and use custom bandwidth settings

Within the Transmission Remote GUI main window you get to filter the torrent links by different criteria: downloading, completed, active, inactive, stopped, or have encountered errors. You can also sort them by download folders.

Transmission Remote GUI provides support for assigning priority labels, changing the torrents order in the queue, or verifying the data. The utility is capable of resolving the host name and country for the peers, and will also display the country flag.

At the same time, Transmission Remote GUI allows you to manage the bandwidth usage by setting limits via the associated status bar menu.

I did misunderstand your question.

For what I know it’s the «latest» version. I can’t see the version right now. The menu option is not available (it’s grey). I get endless of this error dialog boxes.

@patrik-b I can confirm, I have seen the same errors. You have to upgrade to the latest version of TR. Version 5.10+ works on High Sierra.

We will not close the Issue until all fans of High Sierra will not switch to this clone TRGUI (v.5.10)

Transmission Remote GUI is a remote graphical user interface. It basically is an application that lets you control Transmission remotely. Transmission is a BitTorrent client application for the Mac. The remote GUI is available for Windows, Linux and Mac OS X. This application is supposed to come with more features than the stock remote interface that comes with Transmission.

In my testing, I installed Transmission on my Mac and then proceeded to activate the remote features. After that, I installed Transmission Remote GUI and I added 127.0.0.1 as the machine’s IP, because I was testing on my own computer. If you are trying to control another computer over the Internet, you might have to do some port-forwarding.

Transmission Remote GUI found my Transmission app instantly and it didn’t have any problems adding and controlling torrents. Graphically, this GUI looks like older versions of uTorrent. The General tab shows information like status, downloaded and uploaded data, speed limits, seeds, tracker, peers, etc.

Some of the things you can do via this GUI are: add, delete and control torrents, set speed limits, tweak Transmission settings and look for downloaded torrents.

In short, this is a great app for controlling Transmission remotely. I wouldn’t really know whether this is better than the included GUI, because I haven’t personally tested it.

Transmission Remote GUI is developed using Lazarus RAD and Free Pascal compiler.

The installers are listed on the GitHub Releases page, and the installation instructions for different platform are listed as below ⬇️

Easy way (recommended)

There are precompiled program’s binaries for i386 and x86_64 Linux architectures.

• Download and extract the release for your architecture.

Now you can execute the transgui binary. (Change the transgui file permissions to executable if needed)

Additionally, you can create a desktop or menu shortcut to the transgui executable, and run the program using the created shortcut.

Build the program by yourself.

1. Make sure you have working Lazarus and Free Pascal compiler installed.

• Free Pascal Compiler 2.6.2+ and Lazarus 1.6 is used to develop Transmission Remote GUI.

1. Download the sources archive and extract it to some folder or perform svn checkout.
2. Open terminal/command line prompt and cd to the sources folder.
3. Execute make command to build the application.
4. Execute make zipdist command to create a release .zip archive in the Release sub-folder.

Portable zip tarball (recommended)

• Zip tarball release is much more small than the installer one, which can save you some bandwidth, disk space and time, just simply download and extract the zip tarball to wherever you want, directly execute transgui.exe or add shortcut for it.

Note: The first time you use this program, you may need to install some additional dependencies (if you need SSL/TLS enabled), including Visual C++ Redistributable Package(Direct link) and OpenSSL libs(Direct link), this only needs to be done once.

This installer has additional installation wizard and includes static OpenSSL libraries in every releases, the size would be much bigger than the zip tarball, but you don’t need to take care of the OpenSSL dependencies.

1. Directly download the installer.
2. Run the installer and follow the steps to install it on your system.

Run cinst transgui to install the latest version of Transmission Remote GUI.

Without a package manager

This method needs no additional pre-requirement or dependency, just:

1. Download the app image from release page.
2. Open the image file to mount the image.
3. Directly run the application or drag the app icon to your disk / Application folder.

You need to have Homebrew installed. Execute this command to install Transmission Remote Gui:

• brew install —cask transmission-remote-gui

Command line parameters

You can specify path to a .torrent file or a magnet link as a command line parameter. The program will add the specified torrent.

• -hidden : Start the program hidden. Only the program’s tray icon will be visible.
• —home= : Specifies a home directory for the program. All program’s settings are stored in the home directory. You can run multiple instances of the program by specifying different home directories.

If the program finds the transgui.ini file in the same folder as the binary file, then it will store all configuration and data files in the program’s folder, instead of the folder in a user profile.

• Alt + P : Info Pane — Peers Tab
• Alt + F : Info Pane — Files Tab
