Turn off one click windows

How do I turn off the keyboard clicking sound in Windows 10 for the long-term?

I have a new computer with a wireless keyboard and mouse. Every time I depress a letter or shift key I get a click, the caps lock key has a piercing tone. I can temporarily disabled sounds by holding down the right shift key for about eight seconds. Unfortunately, every time I restart the computer the clicks are back.

Does anyone know how to disable keyboard clicking sounds in the Windows 10 settings?

How to turn off Windows laptop screen with a click using ScreenOff

Desktop users can turn off their monitor screens with the button provided. But if you are using a Windows laptop, then it is not possible for you to turn off the laptop screen manually – unless of course, its manufacturer has given you an Fn keyboard shortcut. Sure the Windows Power Options do let you configure the Plan Settings so that you can turn off the display after some time. But what if you just need to turn off the display on your laptop screen manually right away, without locking the laptop or putting it to Sleep?

Turn off Windows laptop screen with ScreenOff

ScreenOff is a first-of-its-kind 13KB freeware that lets you turn off your Windows laptop monitor screen in a click, without putting it to Sleep. This tool does not use a batch command. It uses a SendMessage Visual Basic command to send the system, the command to turn off the display. Moreover, it is a portable tool that does not require to be installed. Nor does it ask you to download and install any specific .NET Framework version.

Simply download the zip file, extract its contents, move the folder to your Program Folder, and pin the shortcut of ScreenOff.exe to your Start Screen or Taskbar.

When you need to go away and want to turn off the laptop screen, just click on its icon and the laptop monitor will be turned off. No need to lock Windows. This free tool does not put Windows to Sleep; it just turns off the laptop screen.

When you want to turn on the laptop screen, just move the mouse or touch the screen if your laptop has a touch-screen.

Create Hotkey to make your computer screen go black or blank

  • To create a Hotkey, right-click on the shortcut of ScreenOff
  • Select Properties.
  • Under the Shortcut tab, set a Shortcut key for it.

ScreenOff does not have any UI – It works in the background. The tool is useful to have around, for your Windows laptop or tablet, as it can also help you save power – especially when your device is running on battery.

ScreenOff v 2.1 has been developed by Paras Sidhu and has been tested on Windows 10, Windows 8.1, and Windows 7, 32-bit, and 64-bit. Version 1.0 enabled a blank screensaver that turned the screen black. The code has been updated by the developer, and in recent versions, it turns off the screen.

Like all our TWC freeware, this tool too is completely clean and free and does not push any PUPs or 3rd-party offers.

Thank you for contacting Microsoft Community.

Your question does not contain all the required information needed for us to help you.

Please provide more information to help you better:

In Windows under sound scheme there is no dedicated sound assigned to mouse click event, so I would like to know have you installed any program which assigns sound to the mouse click event?

What exactly do you mean when you say “ mouse click sound in Windows 10”?

Do you get any sound from speaker when you click the mouse?

Do you get the sound with every click of mouse?

Reply with necessary information to help you better.

The sound comes from the mouse, not the laptop speakers. I suspect this is a hardware feature unfortunately. I have a Microsoft Wireless Mobile Mouse 3500. It has such an annoying click sound.

Why are the replies here making this person think they are crazy. This annoying fake mouse click (AKA ‘Start Navigation’) sound has been in the OS since Windows 95 at least! Those who navigate folders with key shortcuts will notice it more.

Stopping the madness is similar to earlier versions of Windows: Go to START > type System Sounds and click the control panel. Look for «Start Navigation» in the list, select it and goto the drop list just below and select (none), this will stop that annoying folder navigation click.

Doesn’t make any difference on my Asus X550C , Windows 10.

Still get the annoying clicking on the Keyboard Mouse.

Is there another method other than turning the sound down?

I’m having the same problems! I don’t know what I did, but it just started to be like this today. It’s coming from my speakers and I know that it’s the notification sound. All the websites I went to said to do this solution («start navigation» solution), which didn’t work at all for me. I have no clue why it’s like this but it’s annoying. I have a Toshiba Windows 10 laptop.. Every time I just press my mouse, it just makes that notification sound. I don’t think I downloaded anything that makes my mouse do that, so I’m confused.. Please help me!

Password Recovery

How can you make a right-click on a Windows 10 tablet without mouse? Just use your finger or touch pen to press and hold on the screen, it will bring up the right-click context menu. In this tutorial we’ll show you 2 ways to enable / disable the press and hold for right-clicking feature in Windows 10.

Method 1: Turn on / off Press and Hold for Right-clicking Using Control Panel

Open the Control Panel and set the View by option to Large icons. Click Pen and Touch.

The Pen and Touch dialog box will open. Select either Pen Options tab or Touch tab. Once the Press and hold option is highlighted in the list, click Settings.

  • Pen Options – Select this tab if you want to enable or disable “press and hold for right-clicking” on your touch pen.
  • Touch – You can also use your finger to press and hold on a touch screen. Choose this tab if you want to turn on or off right-click for a finger press and hold.

In the Press and Hold Settings window, check or uncheck the “Enable press and hold for right-clicking” option, and click OK.

Now you’ve enabled or disabled the press and hold for right-clicking feature in Windows 10.

Method 2: Turn on / off Press and Hold for Right-clicking Using Registry Editor

Press the Windows key + R together to open the Run box. Type regedit and press Enter.

When the Registry Editor opens, navigate to the following location:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Wisp\Touch

If you do not have this key, then just create it.
Double-click the 32-bit DWORD value named TouchMode_hold on the right pane, and change its value data to turn on or off the “press and hold for right-clicking” feature for your touch screen. 1: turn on; 0: turn off.

  • Close Registry Editor and reboot your computer for the changes to take effect.
  • If you also want to turn on / off the press and hold for right-clicking feature for a touch pen, open Registry Editor and navigate to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Wisp\Pen\SysEventParameters, and then change the HoldMode value (1: turn on; 3: turn off).

How to lock your PC and turn off the display with one click

In Windows, you can lock your PC for security reasons using the Win + L shortcut. If you have not changed the default power management settings, the display will be turned off after 10 minutes. Windows does not provide a native way to turn off display directly on demand by running a command or pressing some button. If you are leaving your PC for a long time, you might want to lock your PC and turn off the monitor instantly with one click. It can be done via a simple script.

    1. Press the Win + R shortcut keys together on the keyboard to bring up the Run dialog, and then type notepad into the Run box.

Tip: see our ultimate list of all Windows keyboard shortcuts with Win keys.
    2. Copy and paste the following text into Notepad:
    3. In Notepad, click File menu -> Save item. The ‘Save as’ dialog will appear. Browse for the desired folder where you wish to store the script and type «lock.vbs» with quotes in the ‘File Name’ text box (the double quotes are required so that the file gets directly saved as «lock.vbs» and not «lock.vbs.txt»):
    4. Put nircmd.exe you downloaded earlier in the same folder. You can also copy the NirCmd.exe into your C:\Windows directory. This is important so that all scripts can easily find its EXE.

That’s all. You are done. Now double click the ‘lock.vbs’ file. You PC will be locked and the screen will be turned off. You can use this trick in Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8/8.1.

You can also pin this to your Taskbar using Taskbar Pinner or to your Start screen using Pin to 8 and then change its icon using this method.
