Если вдруг перестали стартовать Х Решение

Вчера (в пятницу) вечером решил ребутнуть машину на работе.
Все хорошо, но вот где Х? Нету.
В логах Х тоже непонятное, ни одной ошибки, и вырубание Х. 🙁
Сегодня дома гуглил, и нашел:
Потерялся линк
/usr/bin/Xorg -> /etc/X11/X
проверяется: заход в консоль выполняется без проблем.
при попытке выполнить

получаю:
X: cannot stat /etc/X11/X (No such file or directory), aborting.
xinit: giving up
xinit: unable to connect to X server: No such file or directory
xinit: server error

Лечение
sudo ln -s /usr/bin/Xorg /etc/X11/X
Да и визуально видно, что в /etc/X11/ нет файла X 🙂 (разумеется мне)он должен быть линком.

еще, говорят можно отремонтировать
sudo dpkg —configure -a
sudo apt-get install -f
Этот метод я не проверял. 🙂

Что-то странное творится 🙂 Линки пропадают, у людей в соседних топиках и файлы из /home начали испаряться.

ну пропало. Почему — не знаю. Правда последний старт Х был еще перед новым годом. 🙂
После него пару обновлений проходило.

sudo dpkg —configure -a
sudo apt-get install -f

Оно поможет только в случае неудачной установки пакета xserver-xorg. Например вырубили комп во время обновления и т д, когда пакет остался в статусе «не сконфигурирован».

А для того чтобы наверняка выполнить postinst скрипт пакета надо сделать
sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg

В postinst скрипте xserver-xorg как раз и создается этот симлинк.

возможно, возможно, я же написал что «еще, говорят можно отремонтировать» и «Этот метод я не проверял» 🙂

Cannot connect to X server/cannot open display

С линуксом только начал знакомство, пытаюсь запустить kwrite, xlogo, gedit -> выдает

Пробовал разные варианты с stack overflow по типу xhost+ и export display, но не помогло. Также пробовал запускать от рута или sudo -s. Скорее всего я даже не понимаю, что надо толком делать. Работаю под mac os x, запускаю centos в virtual box, версия ядра во вложении

пытаюсь запустить mysql workbench на ubuntu 16.04 под sudo юзером: sudo mysql-workbench .

После connect.Open() вылетает
День добрый, подскажите, в чем может быть причина? программа выполняется до «connect.Open()», потом.

То есть получается чисто из консоли я не могу запускать xlogo kwrite и тп? Только через терминал GUI?

кхм.
те вон ваши программы рисуют чего-то не в текстовом, а в графическом режиме. Если операционная система не имеет подсистемы рисования в графике, то как она сможет нарисовать интерфейс этих программулек? Рисованием занимается X, а уж поведением нарисованного — DE (Desktop Environments).

Т.е. в ОС надо добавить нужные подсистемы. В Линухе, в отличие от Вындоуз, графика не является неотъемлемой частью ядра/системы, а вполне себе отдельная вещь, которую можно ставить (на рабочее место, персоналку), и не нужно ставить на сервер

Unable to open X display when trying to run google-chrome on Centos (Rhel 7.5)

I need to run Google Chrome remotely on a virtual machine using SSH. I do not want xforwarding — I want to utilize the GPU available on the vm. When I try running google-chrome I get following error:

I have ForwardX11 no in /etc/ssh/sshd_config I tried setting up target like this:

But after that I still see UNCLIMED next to my NVIDIA gpu. Aby ideas?

You can try with Xvfb. it does not require additional hardware.

Install Xvfb if you didn’t install it yet and do the following steps.

Okay guys. I found my problem after 2 hours of going crazy. My box was configured correctly. What you can NOT do, is ssh from one box, to another box, to this box and expect X11 forwarding to play nicely. Without tearing apart the entire network, I found that if I shelled over from the MAIN box to this box ( no double or triple ssh’ing) chrome comes right up as a regular user using CLI. So it was a matter of multiple shells from multiple boxes that made the display say it was set to NOTHING! Setting the display manually only complicates the problems. Once I shelled directly over to this box from the main outside box, my display was set to 10:0, which is first instance in my configuration. Don’t make this mistake, you will waste valuable time.

Laptop: MSI GE70 2PE Apache Pro

OS: Windows 10 x64 Home Single Language

TV: Samsung UE32F5570 Smart TV

Screen mirroring was working on Windows 8.1 x64. But after I upgraded my Laptop to Windows 10, screen mirroring is not working.

On the TV, I am getting «Video data is not supported» error. There is no error on the Laptop.

It seems that there is a compatible problem between Windows 10 and Samsung TVs.

Please forward this issue to Windows 10 development team.

There are many people having this problem and there is no solution from Microsoft yet.

I tried all standart copy and paste solutions below. Please do not repeat them:

1) I removed and re-installed updated the graphic driver but not working.

2) I updated display driver again and again, not working.

3) Windows Troubleshooting is not working.

5) Steps on the Troubleshoot video card problems are not working.

I suggest you to install the drivers in compatibility mode on Windows 10 and check:

You can install Windows 8/8.1 drivers in compatibility mode if there are no Windows 10 compatible drivers.

Follow the steps to install in Compatibility mode:

1. Download the updated driver from the manufacturer’s website.
2. Right click the driver installation file and select Properties then tap or click the Compatibility tab.
3. Place a check in the Run this program in compatibility mode for: box.
4. Tap the drop down box and select a previous operating system, then tap or click OK .
5. Try installing the driver and check.

Java Can’t connect to X11 window server using ‘localhost:10.0’ as the value of the DISPLAY variable

I have a script using java to connect to display X11 in the port 10.0 at localhost

but i get always this error

I have tried everything to solve this problem like :

I tried also the port 0.0 but i get always the same error

after trying xhost

how can i fix this i thought that the X Server is not runing so i tried startx its says its runing at that port

my system is Ubuntu server edition 10.04

This command helped me to solve the problem:

You need to specify the -Djava.awt.headless=true parameter at startup time.

Remove the DISPLAY variable

This helps in most cases (e.g. starting application servers or other java based tools) and avoids to modify all that many command lines.

It can also be comfortable to add it to the .bash_profile for a dedicated app-server/tools user.

I think you are working in sudo mode.Please checkout to the user mode and try again

In case anybody trying to run the automated unit tests via maven-surefire-plugin on CI(jenkins. ), and getting the above mentioned error, be sure to update your surefire plugin configuration :

This will fix it:

For me logging in as -Y instead of -X worked.

In case you’ve got untrusted X11 as shown below, then try -Y flag instead (if you trust the host):

After several days of futile effort of installing glassfish on raspberry pi 2 with headless fedora 22, Below worked for me without a hitch

got my help from here

First: start XQuartz

Second: ssh -X user@ip_address

. start your process

if you ssh and then start XQuartz you will get that error

If you are trying to export display using su and it still doesn’t work. This is what worked for me. Try X11 forwarding for sudo users.

Connect the remote host using the -X option with ssh.

Now list the coockie set for the current user.

Switch to another user account using sudo. Add the cookie from the command output above to the sudo user.

Export the display from step 2 again for the sudo user. Try the command xclock to verify if the x client applications are working as expected.
