Настройка вебкамеры Logitech c270
Bus 001 Device 003: ID 046d:0825 Logitech, Inc. Webcam C270
$ dmesg | grep uvcvideo
[ 17.175766] uvcvideo: Found UVC 1.00 device (046d:0825)

How do I install? In Ubuntu 12.04. Driving me nuts!
Thanx anybody!

if it is, then see if its working by installing cheese:
Re: Logitech C270 webcam install.
Hello I would like to install a Logitech c210 cam. Can anyone guide me through that?
Re: Logitech C270 webcam install.
I just went to the Logitech site and it explicitly says the C270 doesn’t support Linux:
Sorry about that. I was looking for decent Linux compatible camera too.

Re: Logitech C270 webcam install.
That logitech does not support linux, does not entail that linux does not support logitech cameras.
To the OP: follow the first bit of advice, run cheese from cli, and paste any error output.
Re: Logitech C270 webcam install.
True. I suppose that was a logical fallacy on my part.
Re: Logitech C270 webcam install.
Hi you all,
I reckon this is an old post, but still.
I’m looking for a good webcam to be used in an old PC running Lubuntu 12.04 and I’m tempted to buy a C270. I wonder if you could eventually make it work in Ubuntu, despite the Logitech disclaimer.
Thanks for your feedback.
Cheers.
Re: Logitech C270 webcam install.
Hi, everybody! My c270 works out-of-the-box in Ubuntu 12.04 x64.
Didn’t test the sound yet, but the pic is definitely there. Tested with Skype and cheese.

ffmpeg -s 640×480 -f video4linux2 -i /dev/video0

Logitech’s c270 Webcam udio sped up Chipmunk style

When I use my Logitech USB C270 webcam in sound recorder or Skype my voice is sped up (Alvin & the Chipmunks). Here are my computer’s specs:
MB: ASUS M4A785T-M
Soundcard on MB: VIA VT1708S
Linux kernel: 4.4.0-53
Dual-boot between Linux Mint 18 (Cinnamon) and Windows 7.
The problem is “fixed” if I unplug the webcam for a couple of seconds and plug it back in. That fixes it One Time Only. I have to do that before I start Skype or Sound Recorder each time. The crazy-making part is I have a dual-boot test computer running Linux Mint 18 (Mate and Cinnamon) and the webcam works perfectly (I know … I know … different soundcards. The test computer’s card, according to aplay -l is ALC888).
According to PulseAudio Manager the sound card’s sample type is 44100Hz. The webcam’s sample type is 48000Hz
This could possibly be the source of the problem but I don’t know how to change the sound card’s or webcam’s sample rate.
Is there a fix for this or do I have to boot over to Windows to make a Skype call?
Thanks in advance.

FYi: Skype has a skype recorder option the Software Manager or Synaptic Package Manager (SPM), although the excellent «audio recorder» should work well too. Skype is not a secure means of communication for you or anyone you communicate with. So, you and those you communicate with might consider switching to a multimedia chat messaging application that is secure, like «qTox» (QTox). There are many good posts in this forum on this topic.
Sound cards have different default sampling rates which might have to be adjusted in Pulse Audio.
Find out what your sound card(s) use
example output
0 alsa_output.pci-0000_00_1b.0.analog-stereo module-alsa-card.c s16le 2ch 48000Hz SUSPENDED
Note: mine shows 48000 Hz, but most Linux Mint things and pulse audio default to 44100 Hz, so I can change that value.
From a console terminal prompt, type in or copy and paste the command below:
If you get an error, or do not have «gedit» (text editor) installed, then install it first ( sudo apt install gedit)
Just look for the line
;default-sample-rate = 44100
and change it to look like this:
default-sample-rate = 48000
be sure to edit out the ; semicolon.
You will need to restart pulseaudio for that to take effect
To stop pulseaudio:
pulseaudio -k
Restart the PulseAudio daemon (4/4)
pulseaudio —start

What a Great Detailed Response! Easier to follow than a cake recipe. But . It only worked One Time. Started up Skype, did the test recording, Perfect, closed Skype. Started it up again, test recording, Chipmunks again.
Thank you for your effort but is there something else I could do?
I’m locked into using Skype because of friends and relatives who are too timid to try anything else.

You are welcome.
1.) First, what was your sound card(s) default sampling rate, and did you have to change it?
2.) Forgot to mention this before because I am not using the Cinnamon version, did you check to see if you have the Cinnamon Microphone bug, and fix that? It is an easy fix, see post below.
viewtopic.php?f=48&t=233131&hilit=microphone
3.) From the Arch Linux web link, I noticed some other settings and things that might help.
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Pu . _recording
Look under «2. Microphone» and «3. Audio Quality» where there are various adjustments that can be made.
4.) You really should try to get the people you Skype with to install and try another secure messaging application. «QTox» works on MS Windows, Linux, Mac osx, and it is easy to install, and there are other «Tox» client applications for every operating system, smart phones (Android and iOS), etc. All people using any Tox client application can communicate to anyone else on the Tox network securely.
«qTox» (QTox) scroll to bottom for downloads
https://github.com/qTox/qTox
Various «Tox» software clients for Linux, MS Windows, Mac- OSx, iOS, Android, etc .

The developers of Skype finally came out with another secure version called «Wire» which may interest you.
«Wire» a secure messaging application

It was 44100 and as per your instructions changed it to 4800. And after the change the test recording I made with sound recorder was chipmunk-sound free. I closed the recorder, started it up again, recorded, played it back … chipmunks.
If I unplug the webcam, plug it back in, same deal. Records fine. If I close and restart the program, record a test . chipmunks.
I checked out the link and I don’t have the Cinnamon Microphone Bug. Didn’t have to change “output” to “input” as it was already there.
Recording audio streams works fine. It’s that @#!% Logitech C270 webcam that insists I should sound like a rodent.
The reason I’m a Mint/Windows dual boot guy is there are a couple of Windows programs I must use that just won’t work using Wine/PlayonLinux or with Virtual Box. In the four years of primarily using Ubuntu (and now Mint) this is the first time I have to do a silly Windows-type-work-around to get something to work in Linux. And the crazy-making thing persists . If I put the webcam on the test computer that is running Mint 18 (Mate and Cinnamon) it worked great. Didn’t have to change a thing.
Is there some way to completely reset pulseaudio, and all of its dependencies, and start um .. fresh? I don’t have the time or will to completely rebuild the computer. If I have to install Windows One More Time I’ll lose my mind. Last time I spent TWO HOURS on the phone with some Microsoft minion getting a new activation key because the one that I had, the one on the Windows 7 box I Paid For, was deemed invalid by whatever entity that oversees Windows installation. Microsoft is the only company I’ve ever dealt with that tortures paying customers. If I had a bootleg Windows 7 I could have saved the TWO HOURS I spent on the phone dealing with some «support» dude in India..
Oh yeah . I hear you when you talk about using something other than Skype. But if I could get friends/family to change their minds . I could probably levitate too.

I have the same webcam and it works alright without the problems you are having. Of course, I do not use Skype even though I have it installed and I do have a Skype account and now a «Wire» account as well. I can close or open «Qtox», or other applications, and microphone works perfectly every time.
You are not using a passive USB hub are you? Do not use passive USB hubs (that do not have their own power supply). You could try using another USB port, unplug the webcam and close any application, wait 10-16secs, plug it into another USB port wait until it is recognized, and try that. It can also be that a USB v1 port on some older computers is not enough, or a USB v3.x port is too much, if you have another USB v2.x port try that, or a USB v3 port, just try another USB port that is directly connected to the computer.
It would help to know more about your system setup. If you run » inxi -Fxzd » and «lsusb» from the console terminal prompt, highlight the results, copy and paste them back here, that should provide enough information.
Have you installed the video for linux (V4L) programs and the «Qas» packages (qasmixer) from the Software Manager or Synaptic Package Manager (SPM)? It might help to have fullscreen screenshots of Qasmixer on your «sysdefault» mixer option.
FYI: There are some really nice graphical (GUI) programs for sound that start with «Qas», like the fantastic «Qasmixer», in the Software Manager or Synaptic Package Manager (SPM) that you can install and use. Sound «Mixers» can be a little confusing if you are not familiar with them. If you bring up «Qasmixer» and make it fullscreen, on the right side you will have mixer devices where you can control your system sound. If you do not see the mixer devices, hit «F6». The mixer item «sysdefault» will show all installed sound card devices, and you will have various options to adjust various volume controls using «sliders» which you can turn off and on using the «dot» below the volume slider. There are also various other check boxes below that you can use, and depending upon your sound card(s) that sometimes includes headphone checkboxes and or sliders as well, like «Headphone Jack Sense».
The applications included are:
— qasconfig — browser for the alsa configuration tree
— qashctl — mixer for alsa’s high level control interface
— qasmixer — desktop mixer with features similar to alsamixer
Qasmixer is a desktop mixer application for alsa’s «simple mixer interface» and offers features similar to alsamixer. it also features a sytem tray icon with basic mixer functionality.
Install «libasound2-plugin-equal» which is another system wide equalizer that’s in the Software Manager or Synaptic Package Manager (SPM) that shows up in «QasMixer».
Hope this helps .

I don’t use a USB hub and I tried ALL the USB ports on the computer before I gave up and posted to this forum. Hope something jumps out at you that will lead to fixing this little problem. I’ll investigate the «Qas»software you recommended over the next couple of hours and get back to you.
Sound «Mixers» can be a little confusing if you are not familiar with them.
Not a problem. Thanks for taking the time to help me on this.
