W500 windows 10 drivers

W500 windows 10 drivers

I have a W500 runing Windows 7. It has been running great with an SSD update. I recently downloaded and installed Windows 10 and did the inplace upgrade. Everything went smoothly, except the installation of the graphics driver(s) for the AMD V5700 Fire pro graphics card. Windows installed a generic and incorrect driver. I had to roll back the previos Windows 7 installation.

The Lenovo site shows no available drivers for Windows 10. Will a graphics driver be made available in the near future?

I searched the AMD site, but could not find anything, and was told by AMD to talk to Lenovo about the issue.

What are my next steps?

Re: W500 Graphic Driver for Windows 10

There won’t be a driver update for it. You can try using these steps though:

Someone also has a modded driver package for Windows 8, which might work on 10:

Re: W500 Graphic Driver for Windows 10

I guess this means Win7 x64 videogfx drivers don’t work under Win10? What the bleep is up with Microsoft? Anyway, considering all the awful things I hear about Win10’s control over the user, and privacy issues, this means they’re going to push me to unix or linux.

Unless the suggested tip works. But:

Malwarebyte AntiMalware blocked zippyshare due to malware. Probably a false warning because lots of people use it to share questionable software.

Re: W500 Graphic Driver for Windows 10

Hello, you can install the Lenovo drivers from here, without requiring any compatibility settings, the only thing you must do though is uncheck the CCC, or the Catalyst Control Center, as these legacy versions of it don’t work on Windows 8, 8.1 or Windows 10.

It will give you proper hardware acceleration through the V5700 though.

Have tried and tested this on T400, T500 and W500 machines.

Re: W500 Graphic Driver for Windows 10

Thanks for the suggestions. I will try them over the Christmas Break. Would it be better to do the inplace upgrade or do a full fresh install for these suggestions to work.

Re: W500 Graphic Driver for Windows 10

Just a reminder that the Lenovo provided ATI drivers are really old and don’t include the perfomance improvements AMD made to the driver afterwards.

The last driver I recall trying on my T400 is the 11.4 Mjolnir drivers. You might be able to get a few newer versions working, at least until AMD dropped support.

I use the Lenovo-provided gfx drivers for my W500 running Win7 Pro x64. Where do I get these faster AMD drivers?

Re: W500 Graphic Driver for Windows 10

I would like to know where to get the updated driveres as well. The AMD/ATI site does not seem to list them other than saying to contact the laptop manufacturer. Does any one know where to get the updated drivers?

Re: W500 Graphic Driver for Windows 10

Followed the instructions, but Windows 10 would not let me install the driver. The proper INF file was not found by browsing to it the tthrough the device driver. I did find the correct INF file and Windows 10 propmptly stopped the installation on the grounds that the driver was not compatable with the current platform. I have not tried the modded windows 8 driver. znot sure how it might behave.

Windows 10 keeps saying the the Radeon driver is the correct driver for the sytem. I’m restoring the sytem to its original Windows 7 configuration.
