Uhhhhh, got the screen flickering but thats minor.

The problem is my mouse doesn’t seem to want to move, so I’m not sure how to cure that, otherwise, everything works fine.

dark omen will not crash and the background will not flicker
if you set the following registry values

open notepad and paste the following code
save as «darkomen.reg» with quotes
then double-click DarkOmen.reg

Do NOT enable Color Cursors from the in-game menu as

If you want Colored Cursors you can search the web

Включает в себя патч от reg2s, а также библиотеки DgVodoo 2.
По умолчанию предназначен для современных ОС (Vista, 7, 8 и 10).

Инструкция по использованию:
1) Распаковать архив по пути, не содержащему кириллических и других «национальных» символов;
2) Установить на файлы DARKOMEN.EXE и REGSETUP.EXE режим совместимости с Windows XP SP2;
3) Запустить REGSETUP.EXE и подтвердить внесение изменений в реестр;
4) Запустить DARKOMEN.EXE для начала игры; по желанию можно пройти в опции и настроить аппаратное ускорение 3D и цветные курсоры.

Если вы используете Windows XP, то для запуска игры необходимо удалить из папки с нею файл ddraw.dll (однако проблемы с графикой всё равно возможны). + Добавить свойство Файл предоставил(а)

For all of you who are waiting on GOG’s re-release of Warhammer: Dark Omen (Shadow of The Horned Rat’s sequel) — , I’ve got good news: there’s a remake named » Dark Omen Reborn «. It’s been built with Unreal Engine 4, by a group of dedicated fans of the original and runs on Win 10 fine. They went great lengths to recreate all of the complex mechanics that made Dark Omen such a fun game (and most faithful recreation of Warhammer Fantasy Battles on PC bar Shadow of The Horned Rat), once again including morale system and fights based on dice rolls, calculated in the background by the computer, assuring smooth real-time action.

Although this demo contains only the first level of the game, it’s enough to refresh the memory of the games mechanics and compare it to its predecessor. You could also say that the Shogun: Total War, which came out roughly 2 years after Dark Omen used some similar ideas 😉

If you like to fiddle around trying to run old games on Windows (I know I do), have the CD copy of Dark Omen lying around and want to run it to experience the full campaign once again, I recommend reading Olly’s Win 10 guide on the Dark Omen forum, which contains step-by-step instructions on how to run the game on modern machines.

В принципе вот ссылки на раб версии ДО. первая ссылка на русскую версию. вторая на англ. версии должны быть рабочими.

ЗЫ: для того чтобы можно было скачать с Torrents.ru надо зарегиться на форуме (для тех кто вообще не знаком с трекером надо еще иметь неплохой upload/download 0.3+). В общем кто имеет аканут на Торентах качаем оттуда) а кто нет то прошу на thepiratebay.

ЗЫЫ на тему совместимости русской и англ версии не знаю но хотел бы проверить)))

Запуск игры под ХР+решение проблемы мерцания экрана:
— Запускаем tshoot.exe (находится на диске ).
— Нажимаем кнопку «No, I need to use the Troubleshooter».
— Нажимаем кнопку «Advanced».
— Отмечаем ВСЕ галки в Texture depths, а также ставим «Force 3D Hardware» и «No 3Dfx Check».
— Запускаем игру. В настройках все выкручиваем на максимум, КРОМЕ (это важно!) цветных курсоров. Мне так и не удалось заставить игру их отображать – виснет, зараза!
— Установили? Выходим.
— Лезем в реестр (через regedit.exe).
— Открываем ключ HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Electronic Arts\Dark Omen\1.0\Options\Options и изменяем параметр Selected с 4 на 0.

Мерцание экрана также можно попробовать «вылечить» простым сворачиванием окошка в винды и обратно.)

Решение проблем с вылетами и зависаниями в игре:
Если игра вылетает на миссии с ограми, или в какой-либо другой момент, необходимо: зайти на диск с игрой: darkomen, SOUND, sp_eng. И переписать содержимое папки sp_eng на диске в точно такую же папку, в дирректории установленной на жёсткий диск игры, с заменой ВСЕХ файлов.

Dark Omen is a real-time tactics (RTT) game from Mindscape/EA which first appeared in 1998 and is set in the Warhammer Empire. It’s the sequel to Shadow Of The Horned Rat from 1995 and uses the Warhammer Fantasy Ruleset.

The undead have struck the land and now captain Bernhardt must eliminate the growing menace together with his mercenary’s troop ‘grudgebringer’. He has to be Victorious through many difficult battles and then finally face the Ultimate challenge against the Dread King in the front of the black pyramid gates!

Advent Calendar Programs and more

Like last year the most important programs of the advent calendar have been added to the download section (click the headlines to get directly to the download):

A new version of the map patch that allows you to deploy up to 15 regiments on any map (regiments must be set to auto deploy).

This patch allows you to use the NPCs like Klaus Zimmermann as commanders of a regiments (with working animations for CHARGE! and so on)

A new version of the Itemcost editor. Featuring additional features like autopatching of the engrel.exe.

This program allows you to edit BTB files using a text editor by converting it to a xml file and vice versa.

Three Years Dark Omen Fansite!

Wow, this website already exists since three years now! We celebrate today (2/5/2010) the third birthday of this website. Three years ago the Dark Omen Community was sleeping but we were able to wake them. And now we are here. Lots of registered users and many Battles and Tournaments.

Thanks to all visitors for supporting us and to the modders of course for there great additions to Dark Omen.

Finally an update

The last large update in the Campaign Section is more then one year old. After this long time we present a larger update: Chapter 3 has been finished.

Also some news about the download section:
Flak’s Goblin Campaign is available there since a long time but we have not written any news about it. His Dwarf Campaign, also available since a while, has been added too.
These campaigns «only» have the troops replaced but playing is recommended because both campaigns have a nice, interesting (English) story in an external file included.

Last but not least two small files from my personal archive: Modified Empire and Undead Army Files. They allow you to buy the missing regiments in the multiplayer mode. But ask your opponent before using them.

On one’s own account: We need tipps how it could go on after we finished the campaigns. Please write your ideas in this topic down, thank you!
