What is windows crystal
What exactly is PVC?
PVC stands for polyvinyl chloride. It is a thermoplastic made from by-products of petroleum. The PVC used in window frames starts as a powder. The materials added to this powder will determine whether the material is stable enough for use in the Spanish climate. We use Deceuninck PVC profile exclusively. It will not expand significantly and will not change colour or deteriorate in any way for at least ten years. We guarantee it. A cheap to produce PVC cannot have a meaningful ten year guarantee in Spain
These days there is a lot of talk about protection of the environment, how does PVC feature in this?
PVC is made from prime natural materials and doesn´t need contaminating products for its maintenance. It reduces heating/cooling costs reducing contamination of the atmosphere and has a long service life at the end of which it can be recycled.
Are there industry standards for windows?
Yes, and windows and doors produced by Crystal conform to and even exceed these European C.E. certificates.
Are there different colours available?
Yes. Crystal windows offer over 100 different colours and beautiful woodgrain finishes in aluminium and PVC. We can create custom colours too, to match anything you need.
Are there special glasses?
There are many, from those giving extra security/safety to those for solar control, higher efficiency, noise reduction
Is installation a messy business?
If windows are measured correctly and cut and extracted using a specific technique, the new unit can be fitted cleanly and the room left spotless. This is where the care and experience of a specialist window installer are noticed most.
What happens if I have a problem after installation?
Simple. You phone us, we come and sort it out. Crystal guarantee their windows, materials and workmanship for 10 years (except pleated nets and roller shutter motors for 5 years) even if adjustments to its function are needed. Everything is covered: handles, glazing, locks, hinges, rubbers etc.
Can you match my existing windows?
Yes. No matter what colour, no matter what style, Crystal Windows have the match for your home
How is aluminium made?
There are different grades of aluminium profile, some not suitable for the Spanish climate. Our aluminium profile is manufactured from raw bauxite, extruded at high temperature, then the colouring and coating applied before baking at a higher temperature and for a longer time than cheaper profiles. Crystal Windows aluminium profile is treated on the internal surface too, to prevent deterioration which in a cheaper profile will, in time, impair the external finish.
What if I need building work doing with the window project?
Crystal has teams who can remove walling, construct walling, tile plaster etc all tied together in the installation of the window. The client deals with one company from start to finish.
What if I need something special, out of the ordinary?
Crystal prides itself in this area and is able to produce specials from one off door designs, true Georgian bar frames to bespoke specialist conservatory roofs, there is literally nothing in the world of windows that we can not make and guarantee locally.
Are arched windows difficult?
They are specialised and have to be measured and produced in a very special way and great skill is required in maintaining a truly parallel and flat unit that closes with a perfect seal, with good tight joints. Crystal Windows are the only replacement window company on the Costa Blanca who make their own curves, in-house, in PVC and aluminium. You get the best curve in the profile to match the curve in the aperture.”
Is supply only possible?
Yes, but we also have a tack fit service where windows are fitted solidly into an opening and adjusted etc ready to be plastered or fitted into pre marcos – purpose-made aluminium sub frames which allow building to be finished and window fitted after clean-up is finished.
Do you cover a large area?
From Castellon to La Mancha and inland
Is extra security possible?
There are many options for increased security on all types of windows and doors including centre locks for sliders, multipoint locks, anti-burglary locking points etc which is best discussed on an individual basis, as to what the client requirements are.
Why Crystal Windows?
- Because we care about you, we care about our reputation and our guarantee is real. You call us and we will come out. And we will continue to do this free of charge for ten years after the date of purchase.
- We have been manufacturing and installing now for over 13 years on the Costa Blanca.
- Almost every product we offer is made in a family business, our dedicated team make almost everything from glass curtains and arches to specialist conservatory’s roofs.
- In our premises of 1000m2 including a showroom we ensure optimum quality and the ability to service our 10 year no quibble guarantee directly to our customers.
- We are known for our ability to provide, even in technically difficult situations, a reliable product, installation and service (85% of our business comes from recommendations or existing customers).
- You never buy just a window from Crystal Windows. Most products in the course of ten years will need some form of adjustment or perhaps just wear and tear (on gaskets, handles etc). This is covered by our guarantee).
- Frequently we find we have to replace windows/doors bought in good faith from other companies that but for a little attention at the right time could have continued working for some time more. However, as a result of neglect, mechanisms or profiles are damaged that we cannot source. Therefore a reasonably good unit often has to be entirely replaced.
What is windows crystal
Running a windows 10 netbook that has really no hope of playing HD without the use of Crystal HD. So I am running XBMC 13.2 which is fine, but I found a linux build of Kodi 14 that re-integrated CHD support.
Wondering if something like this exists for Windows?
Supported Graphics Cards (wiki) Looks like I found a message from Martin Kodi 14.0 “Helix” alpha 2 «Next alpha version we will drop hardware decoding support for Crystal HD and atv1» So that would be it. http://kodi.tv/kodi-14-0-helix-alpha-2/ I would think XBMC 13.2 would be the best, last version to go with on a windows platform.
if there is a directshow filter it should work in kodi DSplayer.
and it is suppose to work in WMP so there is a very high chance that there is an directshow filter.
I have a BCM970015 in my old HP DC7900 USFF.
Running Windows 7 x64, Kodi 16.0 RC1 with DSPlayer.
LAV Splitter Source -> Broadcom Video Decoder -> madVR (minimal settings) + ffdshow audio decoder work just fine for H264 and VC1 1080p content.
Tested under Win10 x64 as well.
@huhn
Broadcom Video Decoder DS filter is a part of their driver software for this module.

Have you tried running Kodi with an external player?
There are some articles in the Kodi Wiki about how to do it.

How to Install Crystal Report runtime
Login to your PC with administrator permissions, and do the following steps
Choose the appropriate version of the report that i.e. 64bit or 32bit depending on your application. Download the runtime from the above link and save it to a folder on your hard disk. Unzip the content.
Double click on the .msi file and in my case it is CRRuntime_64bit_13_0_14.msi
You will see the welcome screen as shown below
Click on Next to continue.
This will take you to the License agreement.
Click on I Accept the License Agreement and click on next to proceed.
If the previous version of the runtime is installed on your Computer, then the warning screen will appear. If you continue, the installer will upgrade the previous version to the new version.
Click on next to continue to upgrade.
This will take you to start installation screen
Click on Next to proceed
The installation begins and it will take several minutes to finish. At the end, you see the following screen.
Click on finish.
This will complete your installation of runtime. You can now run your crystal report application without any issues.
How to Include Runtime into your application setup
You can include the crystal report runtime in your application setup project. To do that you have to download the Merge Module (MSM).
A merge module is windows installer package, but cannot be installed on its own. It can be included in your visual studio setup project and create a single setup file which includes both your application and crystal report runtime. You can then distribute the setup of your application. Then you don’t need to download and install the crystal report runtime separately at client Machine
You can refer to the article on how to include the Merge Module (MSM) in your setup project from the following link Using Crystal Reports Merge Modules MSM to create a Setup project

What is crystals story on windows?

Windows target can come in two flavors:
- Cygwin target (POSIX);
- native Windows port.
The Cygwin target may not be too hard to achieve, since it’s POSIX and most libraries seem to be compatible (I’m not sure about unwind thought). The problem is that it requires a Cygwin environment to compile with Crystal (not just to build Crystal itself), but most importantly to link against cygwin.dll which is GPLv3, so any Crystal application will have to be GPLv3 compatible or pay a fee to have a commercial licence.
A native port would integrate better —I’m not sure what devtools will be required thought, but require hard work. Windows isn’t a POSIX platform, and thus everything related to Time, Exceptions, Sockets or Threads among others, must be fully reimplemented to use the Windows API.
That being said, there are already other issues about Windows.
ysbaddaden commented May 8, 2016
Oh, and we would ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ a Windows port, of course!
Part of the problem is that nobody of the core team uses Windows, as far as I know. We don’t know neither it’s devtools or it’s API. It would thus take a tremendous effort to work on a Windows port.
waterlink commented May 8, 2016
I believe that the new windows feature (in beta), that allows linux
binaries to run natively on Windows should allow Crystal to «just work».
Probably, Ubuntu binaries would do the trick.

I don’t know. This is the inverse of WINE and terminal-only (AFAIK). It brings the UNIX command-line experience to windows, but that’s about it. If it’s only to build terminal applications, or tart the playground, maybe that’s enough. But can you build Windows applications? Maybe by hacking the SampleApp so you can bundle a built binary, but you’ll still be limited to cmd.exe .
So, no, in the foreseeable future, this doesn’t look like a realistic solution.

@waterlink i actually remeber somebody building crystal under that ubuntu-in-windows thingy, it was crashing due to the RAM limitation (it’s only 1 GB) tho
waterlink commented May 8, 2016
Oh I see. Crystal needs just a bit more RAM at the moment. What I
understand in where currently Crystal goes (all new required type
annotations), it will be possible to compile crystal programs (and crystal
itself) on per-module basis, which should reduce the RAM required.

And ubuntu-in-windows thingy I believe has apt-get , so maybe it is
possible to simply install the Crystal binary?

@waterlink well, it probably does, so yep, just can install it like that. I’ll probably ask somebody to test it

I can run and apt-get cryatal now in Bash-windows at win10 Techpreview 14332,as someone reported ever, But only compile sorcecode at terminal-based application, like manderbrot. bash-win have now max 1GB limit, but these may be soon improved https://github.com/Microsoft/BashOnWindows
14228 to 14332 was only 1 week in Microsoft. Bash-win cannot treat windows things, but in bash now emacs,Ruby Python,Rust,Go,JDK is going to act,and someone trying to report x-windows,It may be long to port crystal ,but expect shorter to see Crystal-windows than ever!

@waterlink seems like it works

Apart from what @ysbaddaden said, another major difference with POSIX is exception handling. At least that’s what @waj told me. I don’t know the details because he implemented all of that. The related code is in:
The exception handling involves a personality function. @waj found a lot of info in this blog post because he couldn’t find official docs for this, it seems you have to figure it all out by reverse engineering.
That said, if we all focus our efforts on Windows in one release, we should be able to make it. Someone tried to make Windows happen, in parallel, but the language was so in flux that most of his time was spent on fixing merge conflicts. Now things are not only much stable, but all the required C functions are grouped and located on the src/lib_c directory, thanks to @ysbaddaden. Ideally, we should aim to use Windows API, not cygwin: the less dependencies we have, the better (it might only be faster, but I don’t know).
Another small issue is that we’ll need Continuos Integration (CI) server to test that, once we do get Windows support, it doesn’t break between commits and changes.
We should probably have a single tracking issue for Windows support with a list of checkboxes that we need to check/understand before implementing it, together with answers/ideas that we have. For example we could have a list that maps POSIX functions to Windows functions, so when we decide to start porting stuff it’ll be much easier to do.
