What is an IMEI number and how to find it?

IMEI number means International Mobile Equipment Identity and it is an individual code of every phone. It consists of fifteen digits and is used to identify the device over a mobile network. IMEI number has one important purpose: identify your mobile device. Nowadays, phone thefts happen very often. The problem is also, that today we have a lot of important information on our devices.

IMEI number can be found in some ways:

• the easiest is just entering *#06# on your phone’s call screen,
• on the silver sticker on the back of your phone, under the battery pack,
• on the box, your phone came in,
• you can also find it in your phone settings.

What is MEID number and how to find it?

Your phone uses a unique MEID number, you may need this number to unlock your cell phone or tablet, to track or detect a lost or stolen mobile phone, or to see if your phone will work on another carrier’s network. Here you can find an answer what is MEID number and why we need it?

What is MEID number?

Mobile Equipment Identifier (MEID) is also commonly known as an Electric Serial Number (ESN) . Mobile Equipment Identifier is a globally unique 56 bits number identifying a physical piece of CDMA mobile station equipment. Equipment identifiers are ‘burned’ into a device, and should be resistant to modification.

We can distinguish two standard formats for MEIDs identifier, and both may contain an optional check-digit:

• Hexadecimal Form – this standard is expressed in 14 digits grouped together and applies whether all digits are in the decimal range or whether some are from the range A — F. When the all elements are from ‘0’-‘9’ range than the check-digit is converted by using the normal base 10 Luhn algorithm. In the second case when at least one digit is A — F range the check-digit algorithm uses base 16 arithmetic.
• Decimal Form – this standard is converted by changing the manufacturer 32-bits code to decimal and padding on the left with ‘0’ digits to 10 digits and separately converting the serial number to decimal and afterwards padding on the left to 8 digits. A check-digit can be converted from the 18 digit result using the base 10 Luhn algorithm and appended to the end. The decimal form is specified by 18 digits grouped in a 5 5 4 4 pattern.

How to find MEID?

You can open dialling app and enter *#06#. Even before you hit the call or send button, your phone will pop up the IMEI and MEID number for you.

• Check the back of your phone

The MEID number could be imprinted or engraved on the of your phone, particularly for older-model iPhones (near the bottom).

If your phone has a removable battery, the MEID number could be printed also on a sticker on the back of the phone , behind the removable battery. Switch off the phone, then take off the battery cover and remove the battery to find the MEID number.

Универсальные утилиты для смены/редактирования IMEI/ESN/MEID под платформу Qualcomm. Возможно кое-что подойдёт и для MTK, но нужно пробовать. Для нормального функционирования программ, желательно иметь в диспетчере только одно устройство в режиме диагностики, иначе программы не всегда понимают какое именно им выбирать.

Иногда при прошивках на неофициальные — IMEI или модем становится неизвесный или недействительный.
При удаление некоторых разделов (MODEMST1, MODEMST2, FSG), во внутренней памяти телефона, приводит к тому, что IMEI становится недействительный или 0.
Иногда при официальных прошивках получается недопустимый IMEI или модем заблокирован.
Каковы симптомы ошибочного IMEI и заблокированного модема устройства?

• отсутствие IMEI или неизвестный IMEI
• redmi 1s второй слот сим карты — недопустимый IMEI
• недействительный IMEI
• IMEI выглядит как 0 или 000000000000000
• сим карта не обнаружена
• нет сети
• отсутствие опций мобильной сети (в телефонах с одной сим картой)
• неизвесный модем в меню «О телефоне»

После перезагрузки устройства проверьте есть ли еще проблема. (введите *#06#, чтобы проверить IMEI)
Если проблема не решена — идем дальше.

• если с модемом все нормально, но imei определяется 0 или 000000000000000 — испльзуем QPST метод, описанный ниже.
• если оба, и модем и imei отсутствуют или неизвесны, то вы могли сделать что-то неправильно, повторите процедуру описанную выше (можно даже несколько раз).

Прежде чем что то делать, удалите сим карту из телефона.
2 метод

Для Mi3 и REDMI 1S ( QPST метод)
Причина: если imei устройства 0 или 0000000000000000, а модем в норме (модем определен в меню «О телефоне») выполнить это (QPST (ссылка в конце метода) — скачан и установлен):

1. включаем телефон (сим карта предварительно удалена)
2. набираем *#*#717717#*#* ( появится сообщение usb DIAG mode Enabled) — ето режим диагностики (DM mode) для qualcomm устройств
3. подключаем телефон к компьютеру
4. некоторые новые устройства будут найдены и автоматически для них установлены драйвера ( кроме 4 устройств с названием Mi3 ),
5. но не волнуйтесь, просто проверьте Com порты в менеджере устройств — два устройства будут установлены DIAG и NMEA с желтым значком предупреждения (в менеджере устройств)

Не волнуйтесь, просто перегрузите компьютер и перед началом загрузки нажмите F8, в появившемся меню надо выбрать ОТКЛЮЧИТЬ ПОДПИСЬ ДРАЙВЕРОВ

• после выбора, компьютер продолжит загружаться
• после загрузки зайдите в менеджер устройств > Порты (COM и LPT) > желтого значка предупреждения не будет.

Затем запускаем QPST Configuration
В закладке COM портов появится новое устройство.

1. перейти с текущей вкладки на вкладку «service programming»
2. нажмите OK, затем нажмите читать с телефона (Read), появится следующее окно.
3. нажмите снова OK (SPC 000000 является по умолчанию)
4. затем перейдите на вкладку NAS и заполните первые 14 цифр вашего IMEI (родной IMEI указан на коробке) в поля TAC , FAC and SNR. После этого нажмите кнопку LUHN CHECK DIGIT.
5. после выполнения предыдущих пунктов нажимаете кнопку Write (записать в телефон).

После окончания записи в телефон, отключаете его от компьютера и набираете *#*#717717#*#* ( появится сообщение usb DIAG mode Disable) — это режим диагностики (DM mode) отключен.
Перегружаем телефон.
Теперь проверяем IMEI. Набираем *#06# и смотрим.

• если imei определяется 0 или 000000000000000, а с модемом все нормально — повторяем процедуру заново.
• если imei и модем — недействительны, то повторяем все сначала, начиная с первого метода.

Есть еще один метод, но следовать ему можно только если описанные выше оба метода не помогли.
Перегрузите компьютер и перед началом загрузки нажмите F8, в появившемся меню надо выбрать ОТКЛЮЧИТЬ ПОДПИСЬ ДРАЙВЕРОВ

1. вытащите сим карту
2. включите телефон
3. переведите в usb diag mode enable ( *#*#717717#*#*)
4. подключите телефон к компьтеру
5. запустите QPST configuration
6. перейдите в папку с установленным qpst ( c:\ program files\QUALCOMM\qpst\bin\)
7. найдите RF_NV_MANAGER.exe
8. запустите его
9. перейдите в SETTINGS >comport >выбирете comport вышего телефона и нажмите ОК
10. затем перейдите file > read (читать телефон)
11. после выполнения команды Read > перейдите в «view and search imei» (без ковычек)
12. nv item 550 (пункт nv 550)
13. введите ваш IMEI в IMEI конвертер и получив ковертированный IMEI введите в RF_NV_MANAGER
14. отметить флажком шестнадцатиричное
15. нажмите write nv
16. могут выскакивать ошибки, не обращаем внимания и нажимаем ОК
17. после успешного завершения процесса отключаем телефон от компьютера
18. переведите в usb diag mode Disable ( *#*#717717#*#*)
19. перегрузите телефон и проверте imei *#06#

• если imei и модем — недействительны, то выполните первый первый и проверте imei (*#06#) снова.
• если imei определяется 0, а с модемом все нормально — то повторяем второй метод или заново.

1. устанавливаете MiFlash
2. скачайте это проложение qualcomm_IMEI_Write_tool.zip ( 2,67 МБ )

распакуйте

используйте WriteDualIMEI(W+G_eMMC).exe

удаляете сим карты из телефона

переведите телефон в usb diag mode enable ( *#*#717717#*#*)

подключите телефон к компьтеру (предварительно перегрузив компьютер с нажатием F8, выбрав ОТКЛЮЧИТЬ ПОДПИСЬ ДРАЙВЕРОВ)

выбирете comport вашего телефона

введите свой imei в окне imei

нажмите Write (записать на телефон)

(Эта процедура записи imei проводится, только если imei не действительный)

Is it possible to find a phone by IMEI?

Unfortunately, the operator can’t help us to find our phone using just IMEI. The IMEI number is not useful for this. If your phone is lost or stolen you have to react as soon as possible. Firstly you should report the missing device to mobile carrier and police . If it is reported and blocked by one operator, all other operators from a given country are required to block this device as well. You can find out how to do that at our website here. A mobile carrier can help find the device by BTS system. BTS tracks mobile device installed with a valid SIM card. Mobile updates it’s location whenever it gets connected with the nearest BTS. Reporting the missing phone to the police is important also. The police will report IMEI and it will be the introduction of stolen telephones to the police database. In the future, it may be detected during routine officers checks.
