As you are unable to find Windows Movie Maker on your computer, I suggest you to install Windows Essential on your computer and check. Windows DVD Maker was only installed on Windows Vista and Windows 7. Support was dropped in subsequent versions of Windows (e.g. 8, 8.1 and 10) and it won’t be coming back.

When Movie Maker was run on Windows Vista or Windows 7, it detected the presence of Windows DVD Maker and added a menu option to «Burn to DVD». But as noted, on later versions of Windows, you will not be given this option. If you absolutely need this older, legacy format (standard definition optical disc in MPEG-2 format, 480p NTSC maximum resolution) then you’ll have to look to other software to do it.

There are more modern ways to distribute video and to maintain HD quality rather than having to down-rez to the video DVD format. While perhaps too late for this project, if you want to explore those options, please reply back with reasons why you wanted to put the video on a video DVD in the first place.

This is not Alicia with the original question to you but I have the same problem.

2 years ago, at age 63, I created my first movie ever with Movie Maker on Windows 10. This was to be a gift to many family members. This took me hours over the course of many months to complete. It was a real challenge for me but I’m proud of myself for finishing and my good work. Upon completion I expected to burn to a dvd. Darn! Can’t do that any more. I had only gotten a new pc w/ Windows 10 just weeks before starting the project. (should have saved the old computer!) Consequently, I had to haul my computer to the party for a view session. Just imagine, 12 people huddled over my computer.

You ask why not use another media than DVD. My first thought is price . A stack of DVDs is a heck of a lot cheaper than 17 flash drives — one for each family. You say «share from a cloud». Sorry, but maybe only 6 of the 17 families has the know-how to get into a cloud.

Please — give us back a burn to DVD option and please let me know when this «upgrade» is available!
