It seems there is no replies back to anyone that submits a bug report but you might wind up with a Microsoft engineer has responded . It sounds like they respond but I think it just means they are working on it.

How to report windows 10 bug?

Wow MS really don’t want user participation when it comes to reporting bug in win10.

Just spent 10 min googling about and cant seem to find anyway to do it, so lets hope this thread gets the message to them.

So install Win10 Pro 64b over Win7 Pro 64b and it mostly went well inasmuch as the OS works and the MS programmes I ran all worked well.

However it would not run Alibre Design 11.2 or the Data Migration tool as both just crashed without error message and the compatibility finder tool didn’t fix the problem. To be fair these only worked in Win7 with a register hack so was bit of a unfair test.

But the GigaByte ET6 utility lockuped Win10 big time, mouse still worked but system just didn’t respond to clicks, the start menu no longer functions so cant re boot or shutdown also it kills the on/off button so only way out is to pull the power cord.

System rebooted ok after power cord unplugged.

Looks like you have a bit more compatibility testing guys.

And by the way do provide a simply tool to report bugs as some are trying to help 😉

Windows 10 development methodology has certainly changed drastically since XP. Windows XP OS was designed to run just about any piece of hardware and software on the market. Post XP OS development moved to supporting MS products and services more or less exclusively. ( Onedrive, Essentials, Office..) Third party software has never been supported by MS, and now is second in consideration when the OS is concerned. Support services has been farmed out or contacted to outside of North America (Even if that company has a building in the USA), where they don’t have access to the source code and have no real way of fixing OS issues. The last two sessions with MS AnswerTech, level One support, end in reinstall or pay for a subscription. The ‘pay now or pay me later’ fix.

I think it’s time we see new OSs’ that can meet the or beat MS Windows OS. Maybe MS products will have problems, then they will understand the folly behind these changes.

Windows 10 bug reports

Alright Microsoft. after a frustrating 30 minutes trying to find a way to report a rather large and annoying bug in the new upgrade to window 10 I have found that you are not very accepting of help here.

1. The upgrade removed the «elevated» status for the shortcuts for my AutoDesk programs so that they no longer function properly. This is a problem as I will have to create new «elevated» short cuts for each and every program that requires «Administrative rights» to run properly. Or remove the software and reinstall it.

2. File explorer is not working properly after the upgrade.

How does one to report these bugs without paying for a service request. This is definitely an upgrade issue and from my understanding was a prominent problem with the Technical Preview.

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

Windows 10, as you are aware, is new operating system and as far as file association or compatibility is concerned with programs, installing them in compatibility mode can sometimes work with Windows 10 as this has always been Microsoft feature. Microsoft, however, is continuously working towards such issues.

Your second questions would be better suited for the IT Pro audience in TechNet forum.

Thank you for your reply. As I am about the upgrade 19 computers with the offending software already installed on them I am hoping that Microsoft will address this issue further. Upon further investigation it is not an file association issue as much as it is a security issue. AutoDesk is a trusted publisher, however the Windows 10 upgrade removed this association and the UAC then denied access to the registry that these programs that access/change the registry every time you run them. Running them in «compatibility mode» does not solve this particular problem. and uninstalling & reinstalling is not a very efficient method either. I have been able to get them to run properly by disabling the UAC and running the programs as an administrator. This is not really a desirable option either as this will diminish the enhanced security that is one of the desirable features with Windows 10.

Major problem: the bug report I want to send is the fact that my start menu does not open up AT ALL anymore, no matter what I try. Build 10074.

I am using Advanced Systems Care Ultlimate 8. When installed on this version of Windows 10, the «Toolbox» section remains empty. You have no options. I reinstalled it three times. It works for the first time, then won’t work. It works in 7 and 8 with no issues.

I loaded Win 10 upgrade and after all was done, I lost my wife’s and my grandsons’ sites and only mine was left.

I use up to date thunderbird email. The problem is every time I go to send an email, the address book I set to personal address book is reset back to all address books — this started after installing Win 10 update! What should I do?

Yes, same problem with the start menu and search — won’t open at all. Worked fine for first two days after the free upgrade, but now won’t open at all. It has been several weeks and right now I wished I did not upgrade at all!

This error shows to be in a file called: SME3YQY6.LOG in regards to Windows 10. Please explain how to resolve this.

Well isn’t this hilarious. My entire desktop just disappeared. The start button does not work and there is no way I can alert them to the issue. Unless of course, I restart, the OS fixes itself and I no longer have any reason to bother, but let’s face it. I’m lazy. It’s pretty weird that my browser even works, considering before it went down, it refused to show my internet access. My browser is literally the only thing that works and that’s Chrome.

I am having trouble with Windows 10. No brightness control any where. When I log out of my screen and then back in the brightness goes to bright and I can not see anything. I have the turn the computer off and on several times until it resets. It needs fixing.

The result of Step 3 is «No results found for ‘Windows Feedback’.»

My Windows is having a special type of bug. If I open a program it gets opened very quickly in Task Manager but takes about 15 seconds to load on my screen. Earlier this wasn’t an issue because it quickly gets on my screen.
Please help me to fix this issue. I also updated my Windows, even optional updates are installed.

MS just ignores my bug report. So what good is in this feature?
