Windows 10 endless loop

Windows 10 endless loop solved for my DX4860, but now what do i do?

I have a Gateway DX4860 that had a endless loop error when I received the latest forced update for windows 10.

Seeing I could not get my system to bootup or start at all. I ended up buying a windows10pro disc to download to a new harddrive(1/2 tb) to get this machine running again. that would not work either, hmmm I knew the machine is good because it worked before the update. after doing some reading I found that if I would remove the wireless communication card that would solved the problem.it did. My gateway works as it should with windows 10! I just added a dongle type wireless add-on.

Now, I have a new hard drive with windows10 on it but all my stuff( files, apps ($1000s) and settings) is on the old hard drive with a corrupt windows 10 on it.

How do I get my files, apps and settings back? I would like to get my 1tb drive working again without losing my data.

You can get your files and apps back you can restore it from a backup (if you’re using Windows backup) or you can try to restore it from a previous version. Previous versions are copies of files and folders that Windows automatically saves as part of a restore point. If you’re not using Windows backup, we suggest you install the old hard drive on your computer. From there you can access the drive and search for your files and apps.

If you require any further information, feel free to let us know.

From what I can tell the Gateway DX4860 would have come with either Windows 7 or Windows 8/8.1 preinstalled (it was/is not supported by Gateway for Windows 10). Therefore Windows 10 was perhaps installed on the device during the free upgrade period using the license from the qualifying previous edition of Windows? If so, and, you have now purchased a new Windows 10 licensed copy (disc or download) you would now have 2 Windows 10 licenses for use.

The digital entitlement license issued for Windows 10 from the OEM installed Windows 7 or 8/8.1 would not be transferable to another device (PC) whereas a full retail license would be. So, if you did buy a full retail Windows 10 Pro disc/license that can be used on a different PC whereas the upgraded from an OEM installed previous edition cannot.

Do note that Windows 10 installation media can be downloaded at any time for free by using the Media Creation Tool for use on either the same or another (different) device. To create physical media or to download the ISO file use the instructions for: » Using the tool to create installation media (USB flash drive, DVD, or ISO file) to install Windows 10 on a different PC (click to show more or less information)». The activation can be done after installation through the MS activation servers once the device is online.

All that being said, at this point, now that you have uninstalled the offending hardware device (the Wi-Fi card) I would try swapping back to the original HDD and try to repair that Windows 10 installation. What are the error messages that you are getting?

If need be, you can use the Windows 10 disc (or a created USB from using the MCT for example) to enter the Windows 10 Recovery Environment.

Here are some links pertaining to using the Windows 10 Recovery Environment in order from informational to more technical:

Pay attention to the options presented to you in the RE, they can vary depending, for example, is the Go back to a previous build option shown as being available?

If need be, there is also a way that you could retrieve the files that you want before clean reinstalling Windows 10, if it comes to that.

Anyway, if you can reply back with some more exact info we may be able to offer some help that is more tailored to your devices specific situation.

Windows 10 endless loop

Windows 10 recently did an update on my HP Pavilion P7-1235. The update did not complete and now windows in stuck in an endless reboot loop. The Windows logo pops up for about 5 seconds and then the computer resets. I tried running Windows 10 ISO but that doesn’t work. It says that another update is already running and needs to be completed. However, with the endless loop, I can not complete this update.

To isolate this issue, let’s boot your computer to Safe mode and check if the issue persists. To do this, follow the steps below:

  1. Lock your computer and then click the Power icon at the bottom-right of your screen and hold the Shiftkey.
  2. Click Restart while holding the Shift button.
  3. Click Troubleshoot.
  4. Click Advanced options
  5. Click Startup settings
  6. Click Restart
  7. Your computer will restart and give you a list of startup options. Kindly press «4» to select Enable safe mode.

Check if you would get into the system while is Safe mode. If yes, log in to it and open Command Prompt as administrator. At the Command Prompt window, type sfc /scannow and hit Enter. It will run the System File Checker tool to check and repair any missing or corrupted system files. Once it’s done, restart the computer and check if the issue persists.

If you are still unable to get into the system while in Safe mode, kindly follow the steps below to run a System Restore instead:

  1. Click the Power icon at the bottom-right of your screen and hold the Shiftkey.
  2. Click Restart while holding the Shift button.
  3. Click Troubleshoot.
  4. Click Advanced options
  5. Click System Restore.
  6. Your computer will restart to the System Restore window. Follow the on-screen instructions and select the restore point with the date and time when the computer was working fine.

Step 2:

If the issue still persist, follow the bellows steps and check if it helps.

Use File, Run new task in Task Manager to start an Administrator CMD window. Use this to create a new administrator user with the following commands (changing “

Windows 10 Update (Reboot Endless Loop)

So I’m pretty sure most of you would know that after 10th April 2018. Windows will no longer receive security updates and etc.
It would say like:

«Important updates needed

«After April 10, 2018, Microsoft will no longer support your version of Windows 10, and this PC won’t receive official security updates.

«These security updates help protect your personal data from harmful viruses, malware, spyware, and other malicious software. Microsoft recommends updating to the latest version of Windows 10 immediately.

«Select Download updates to begin downloading and installing the new version of Windows 10. The update may be up to 6 GB, and may take a few hours to download depending on your internet speed and PC performance. Internet access fees may apply.

(button) «Download updates

(button) «I need help

(button) «Not right now»

So once I click update now and finish downloading the update. it prompts me to update now and install. Then it restarts and starts the percentage with blue screen

Once it finishes till 100% and restart again, it would then start a loop where it launches the boot screen

(HP Boot Screen) -> (Windows 10 Startup Screen with the circle dots going around at the bottom) -> (Then there’s like a small cmd prompt blink and vanishes) -> (Followed by a «Attempting to recover installation» with the white dots moving in a circle again) -> (Then a second later, «Restoring your previous version of Windows») -> Then blank screen and computer restarts from the HP Boot Screen.

Please help me fix this. Are there any ways to recover this issue? Is it a glitch or smth?

I think I can try and get a video of the process if I can try and post it here

A Recovery Drive serves as a back up of your system files and personal files which you can use even if your PC won’t start. To create a recovery drive, you’ll need a USB drive. An Installation Media is a Windows installer that you could also use to restore or reset your PC.

Note: You can only create a recovery drive if your PC is working.

Should you need further assistance, feel free to post back.

There are various options in Windows Recovery Environment that would help you restore your computer. We suggest going first with Startup Repair to fix problems that keep Windows from loading. To proceed, select Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > Startup Repair.

Thanks for your reply, Which OS should I choose? Because there is one option which was blank and looks like a control panel icon while there’s another option with Windows 10 logo which states Windows 10. Therefore I selected Windows 10 because it is the logical answer.

I run it and waited for it to be done

Startup Repair couldn’t repair your PC

Press ‘Advanced options’ to try other options to repair your PC or ‘Shut Down’ to turn off your PC

Log file: E:\WINDOWS\System32\Logfiles\Srt\SrtTrail.txt

[Button: ShutDown] [Button: Advanced Options]

What should I do? Any advice please?

A corrupted or damaged Windows system file is possibly preventing you from performing a Startup Repair. To help you resolve the issue, you can rebuild the Boot Configuration Data (BCD) and running DISM command-line tool using a Windows 10 installation media. BCD is a firmware database for boot-time configuration data. The DISM command-line tool is designed to scan for corruptions in Windows system files and restore corrupted files. If you haven’t created an installation media yet, you can refer to Andre Da Costa‘s forum article for the steps on how to create one.

Once you’ve created your Windows 10 installation media, follow these steps:
