Thanks for posting on Microsoft Community. We regret the inconvenience caused and will assist you in resolving the issue.
Before we assist further, did you make any recent changes to system settings?
You may be facing the above issue due to changes in the system Settings page or missing/corrupted system files in the PC. Running SFC scan will help in detecting the corrupted or missing files and folders on the PC.
If you have made any system Settings changes, revert and check if the issue is resolved.
If the issue persists, run SFC scan by following the steps below and check for the presence of corrupted or missing system files and folders.
SFC scan is a utility in Windows that allows users to scan for corruptions in Windows system files and restore corrupted files. If a Windows Resource Protection (WRP) file is missing or is corrupted, Windows may not behave as expected. For example, some Windows functions may not work, or Windows may crash.
Step 1: Open an Administrator command prompt window by
a. Press Windows logo + X keys on the keyboard and select Command Prompt (Admin) option.
b. Click on Yes and continue. Provide administrator password if prompted.
c. Check if it says Administrator: Command Prompt at the top of the command prompt window.
Step 2: Type the following commands in the CMD Prompt:
sfc /scannow
Step 3: Close the command window and check if the issue is resolved.
Write to us with the status of the issue on the same post for further assistance. Your reply is most important for us to ensure we assist you accordingly.
Windows 10 Language Bar is missing
I have checked the settings most commonly referenced to get the Language bar to show w/out any success in getting to appear. I also have run sfc /scannow to validate Windows.
Why is the language bar refusing to display (dock in the Task Bar)? It used to work.
Show Language Bar, Docked in the taskbar ON
Input Indicator is ON
sfc /scannow checks out

My name is Jon and I am an independent technical adviser. Sorry to hear you are experiencing issues and I would really like to help you find a resolution.
Here are some solutions you may want to try.
1. Check Registry
You may have to make a small change in the Windows registry to help the language bar reappear on the taskbar. Press Windows+R to open the RUN prompt and type regedit before hitting Enter.
You will now navigate to the following folder path:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
Right-click anywhere on the empty area in the right windowpane and select String Value under New.
That will create a new file named New Value #1 and you can name it anything. Right-click on it and select Modify.
Enter the following value.
«ctfmon»=»CTFMON.EXE»
Hit Ok, and reboot your system to check if the language bar is visible on the taskbar.
2. Remove/Add a Language
Some users have reported that removing and adding their preferred secondary languages did the trick. To do this, press the Windows+I shortcut to open Settings and click on Time & Language.
Under Region & language, you can delete a language pack by clicking on its name and selecting Remove option. Keep your primary language as it is and remove secondary languages — all of them.
To add a language back, click on Add a language on the same screen, search for your preferred language and click on Next.
In the next screen, you can select whether you want the language for display only or for speech and handwriting too. Click Install and you are done.
3. Update Windows
Are you using the latest version of Windows? Press the Windows Key+I keys to open Settings and select Update & Security.
Click on the Check for updates button and if there are any, Windows will offer to install them. For the most part, Windows will install these updates automatically but maybe auto updates are turned off on your system.

To answer your question,
1. The issue will persist in both sleep and hibernate mode.
2. I just bought the computer two weeks ago, and I only added Chinese language in «control panel — clock, language, region — language «
3. The computer is windows 10 version 10.0 (build 10240). Everything is up to date.

I’m also having the same problem. I’ve also only added the Chinese language. Perhaps there is a bug with the Chinese language pack?

I have always have the language bar on every PC I’ve used, (English/Spanish) and everything was fine until a couple of weeks ago, when it just disappeared. I haven’t been able to put it back on the task bar. I need it because I write in both languages all the time and I never know what keyboard is on at the time I start writing, unless I can see the «Eng» or «Esp» on the bar.
I’ve tried everything recommended here and in other forums. Nothing works.
There must have been an update recently, that changed the settings.
Please, can anyone find a way to get the language bar back?

The same problem with me with some wicked additions. My computer was bought in the USA, I have configured Portuguese and International keyboard (English). The language bar is sometimes replaced by the virtual keyboard and my possibilities to use Portuguese stress marks are gone. Restarting the computer makes no result. Last time I had to perform system recovery from a previous point. I don’t want to do this from time to time. Beyond being annoying, some configs can be missed by doing this. I’m surprised to see this question was posted in October 2015 and by April 2016 no effective answer was provided.

Yeah, I feel your pain. My computer got to a point in which I couldn’t open any programs, couldn’t do a clean up, etc. Couldn’t even download and install «fix» tools from Microsoft. So since no one could help me fix the problem, I just had to do a complete recovery and that way, get rid of Windows 10. I’m back to Windows 8.1, which at least has the language bar.
Good luck fixing your problem!

I had the same problem – language bar just despaired.
In my case, this worked:
From Control Panel open Language, and then Advanced settings.
Check Use the desktop language bar when it’s available, then select Options, and on Language Bar tab make sure Docked in the taskbar is selected.
Beside this, check only Show text labels on the Language bar.
While there, on Advanced Key Settings bar you can set hot keys for different languages.
For me, that solved a problem.
Hope this helps.

Although I had already tried what you suggested, I tried it again, just in case. But it didn’t work for me. I still don’t have the language icon in the taskbar.
Thanks for trying to help me!
Have a great day!

Hey everyone, I am sorry I forgot about this post. The language bar problem has been solved apparently. I say ‘Apparently’ is because the problem has stopped occurring any more after the system was updated once. My current PC version is Windows 10 Home 64 bit, version 1511, OS build 10586.218. All the suggested solutions did not work previously. It just solved after some system auto-updates. I have no clue about the problems and I do not know whether they fixed the problem in the previous updates.
If you want, you can update your status here. Maybe this posts and sub-posts and replies can help the engineers to work on problems like this or similar ones.

Language bar disappeared from taskbar in Windows 10
OT- Language icon missing
I don’t have any more my language icon besides clock on the task bar. My Win10 is official and valid, and laptop is Lenovo G50. I did go to Settings>Notifications and actions>Turn system icons on or off>Input indicator — I clicked on that and only EMPTY space appeared besides clock and date.
What to do? Pls help.
