Change Internet Explorer settings

There are many changes you can make to customize your browsing experience in Internet Explorer. To view all settings and options, open Internet Explorer on the desktop, select Tools > Internet options.

Reset Internet Explorer settings

You can reset Internet Explorer settings to what they were when Internet Explorer was first installed on your PC. This is useful for troubleshooting problems that may be caused by settings that were changed after installation. Be aware that this process isn’t reversible, and all previous Internet Explorer settings are lost after reset.

Close all open windows and programs.

Open Internet Explorer, select Tools > Internet options.

Select the Advanced tab.

In the Reset Internet Explorer Settings dialog box, select Reset.

In the box, Are you sure you want to reset all Internet Explorer settings?, select Reset.

When Internet Explorer finishes applying default settings, select Close, and then select OK. Restart your PC to apply changes.

If Internet Explorer won’t open, or pages won’t load.

If Internet Explorer won’t open, or if pages aren’t loading, there may be an add-on that is interfering with the process. To tell whether this issue is with an add-on or not, you can try the following:

Find your processor speed.

Select Start > Settings > System > About.

Under Device specifications, see System type.

Based on your processor speed, choose the appropriate line of code below and copy and paste or type the code into the Search box on the toolbar.

For 32-bit:
«C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe» -extoff

For 64-bit:
«C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe» -extoff

Internet Explorer will open and you can find out which add-ons were causing issues. To manage add-ons in Internet Explorer, see Manage add-ons in Internet Explorer 11.

Как сбросить браузер Internet Explorer к настройкам по умолчанию

При сбросе параметров к значениям по умолчанию будет выполнено:

• отключение панелей инструментов и надстроек
• восстановление параметров веб-обозревателя по умолчанию
• сброс параметров конфиденциальности
• сброс параметров безопасности
• сброс дополнительных параметров
• сброс настроек обзора с вкладками
• сброс параметров всплывающих окон

Также можно удалить личные параметры, при этом будет выполнено:

• восстановление параметров по умолчанию для домашних страниц
• восстановление служб поиска и ускорителей
• будут удалены временные файлы интернета, файлы cookie, пароли, данные веб-форм
• также будут удалены параметры защиты от отслеживания

Чтобы сбросить настройки браузера Internet Explorer к настройкам по умолчанию, закройте все открытые окна браузера.

Затем нажмите сочетание клавиш + R, в открывшемся окне Выполнить введите inetcpl.cpl и нажмите клавишу Enter ↵.

В окне «Свойства: Интернет» перейдите на вкладку Дополнительно и нажмите кнопку Сброс.

Затем в диалоговом окне «Сброс параметров параметры Internet Explorer», при необходимости установите флажок опции Удалить личные параметры и нажмите кнопку Сброс.

После применения стандартных параметров Internet Explorer нажмите кнопку Закрыть.

Чтобы изменения вступили в силу, перезагрузите компьютер.

После перезагрузки компьютера, браузер Internet Explorer будет сброшен к настройкам по умолчанию (пример на скриншоте ниже).

Сбрасываем настройки в браузере Internet Explorer

Сброс настроек обычно нужен тогда, когда в работе браузера возникли критические ошибки. Выполнить его можно разными способами в зависимости от версии системы. Но есть универсальный метод — с него мы и начнём.

Сброс через свойства браузера

Самый простой способ сбросить настройки браузера — использовать соответствующую кнопку в его свойствах.

1. Открываем Internet Explorer.
2. Нажимаем на кнопку в виде шестерёнки и переходим в раздел «Свойства браузера».

3. Открываем вкладку «Дополнительно».

4. В поле «Сброс параметров» нажимаем на кнопку «Сброс».

5. Читаем, какие именно настройки будут удалены, и ещё раз нажимаем «Сброс».

При сбросе настроек мы можем выбрать, удалить или оставить личные параметры. Если вы будете дальше пользоваться браузером, то лучше их не стирать, иначе вы останетесь без закладок и паролей.

Сброс через «Панель управления»

Если браузер не запускается, то попасть в его свойства для сброса настроек можно через «Панель управления» или с помощью меню «Выполнить». Сначала быстрый способ:

1. Нажимаем сочетание клавиш Win+R.
2. Вводим команду inetcpl.cpl и кликаем «ОК».

3. Переходим на вкладку «Дополнительно» и сбрасываем настройки.

Через «Панель управления» путь будет чуть дольше:

1. Открываем «Панель управления».
2. Выбираем режим «Крупные значки».

3. Переходим в раздел «Свойства браузера».

4. Открываем вкладку «Дополнительно» и сбрасываем настройки.

How to reinstall/reset Internet Explorer 11 in Windows 10?

How can I uninstall/reinstall IE 11 in Windows 10? Easy to do in W7, seems impossible in W10. Mine has corrupt file which I need to repair. I have done IE reset, and system restore to when it was OK, but still have fault. Rapidly going off W10, and will probably have to use Firefox if I can’t resolve this issue.

I just installed Windows 10 and when I am online I keep getting messages that Internet Explorer has stopped working and has to close the program I am in. I also had this problem in Windows 8.1. I need a fix because I like IE and don’t want to switch if I don’t have to.

I have Windows 10 and Internet Explorer 11 and Internet Explorer 11 will not open a web site. All I get is the «Internet Explorer has stopped working» window. I have reset it. I have turned it off in Windows Features, restarted, and turned it back on, but it keeps doing the same thing. I have changed the home page. I have disabled all add-ons. Nothing has helped. Is there a way to uninstall and reinstall?
