Resolving Blue Screen errors in Windows
Blue Screen errors (also sometimes called black screen errors or STOP code errors) can occur if a serious problem causes Windows to shut down or restart unexpectedly. You might see a message that says, «Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.»
These errors can be caused by both hardware and software issues. If you added new hardware to your PC before the Blue Screen error, shut down your PC, remove the hardware, and try restarting. If you’re having trouble restarting, you can start your PC in safe mode. For more info, see Windows Startup Settings (including safe mode).
You can also try getting the latest updates with Windows Update, help from other sources, or restoring Windows to an earlier point in time.
Get latest updates
In Windows 7
Click the Start button , click All Programs, and then click Windows Update.
In Windows 8.1
Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, tap Settings, and then tap Change PC settings. (If you’re using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer down, click Settings, and then click Change PC settings.)
Tap or click Update and recovery, and then tap or click Windows Update.
Tap or click Check now, and then wait while Windows looks for the latest updates for your PC.
If Windows finds updates, tap or click Install updates. You might be asked for an admin password or to confirm your choice.
Read and accept the license terms, and then tap or click Finish if the update requires Windows Update will tell you if it successfully installed the updates.
Get help from other sources
If these solutions don’t solve the problem, you can get help from Microsoft Supportand the Microsoft community. Microsoft Support offers technical help about different versions of Windows. The Microsoft community pages in theWindows forumoffer solutions from other people who have experienced similar problems with their PCs.
If your PC came with Windows preinstalled on it, contact the PC manufacturer.
Restore Windows to an earlier point in time
You can restore Windows back to an earlier point in time, called a restore point. System Restore doesn’t change your personal files, but it might remove recently installed apps and drivers.
If you’re having trouble starting (booting) your PC, you can restore Windows in the Windows Recovery Environment. For instructions, see Windows Startup Settings (including safe mode).
Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Search. (If you’re using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer down, and then click Search.)
Enter Control Panel in the search box, and tap or click Control Panel.
Enter Recovery in the Control Panel search box, and then tap or click Recovery.
Tap or click Open System Restore, and then follow the instructions.
Blue screen when loading windows
last week sometimes when I powered my computer, when windows is loading (the logo of windows is shown) there was a blue screen and after this the computer made restart and repair himself and it worked.This happend several times until the computer once couldnt repair himsel (there was a blue screen in the repair and «dont send» error).
after this I formatted and the computer worked for 2 days and the problem back again but the computer can’t repair himself.
You have what are called «Hard sectors errors», once this start the drive can continue to deteriate more rapidly over time. All WD drive are either marked with a warantee date or code. If the drive was one that you bought then WD will replace your drive if its stive covered. If the drive came with the computer and the computer is in warantee you need to contact the PC manufacture, if the PC is out of warantee then you must purchase a replacement drive.
In either case you should start backing up any important data file you have.
What model of Western Digital do you have?
HD Tune:
Provides drive info and has an option (error scan tab ) to test your drive. Also shows model number.

It will display your drives model number compares your drive with other drives of the same make and model.

Blue screen when printing
We are getting a Blue screen from every Windows 10 Workstation following printing to any printer on the network.
The workstations need to be rebooted.
The error code is :
Your device ran into a problem and needs to restart.
Stop Code: APC INDEX Mismatch
What failed: win32kfull.sys

Microsoft released the KB5000802 update that has caused a lot printer related problems, most people’s PC’s are going to blue screen then the user tries to print
Microsoft are working on a patch, so until they fix this, the best option is to uninstall that update, after you remove the update, restart the PC’s and the problem should be resolved . . .
Then, Pause Windows 10 Updates for 7 days to give them time to resolve the bug . .

This has fixed the problem on a temporary basis. It only seems to affect Kyocera printers.
When will this be rectified.

Microsoft identified an issue that affects Windows 10 devices which applied the March 2021 security update released March 9, 2021, and a resolution has been expedited. This known issue affects printing operations for devices using certain Type 3 printer drivers, which might receive an error with a blue screen when attempting to print. An out-of-band optional update is now available on the Microsoft Update Catalog.

Windows blue screen when starting

A few days ago my laptop with windows 7 on it (used now for approx. 7 months without any problems) ended up in blue screen when starting up, as soon as it got to the password stage to sign in (laptop is password protected), automatically shut down so fast didn’t even get a chance to read anything on the blue screen. Restarts then again and again immediately goes to blue screen before signing in.
Can then only start in safe mode. Have tried system restore and if I restore it back to before the date in question it then boots up correctly. However, Mcaffee seemed to be affected and so I re-installed that. In a security report I found information that my computer was attacked by a trojan but that this was prevented.
If I now close down windows it does some automated updates and this then results again in blue screen when I start it up again, mc affee won’t work properly, so have to uninstall and re-install again etc. Going round in circles. Have also tried perfectoptimizer, but same blue screen scenario.
Basically, I haven’t got a clue what to do. Should I best take laptop to a computer specialist? Have read a lot of the experiences other users have / had with blue screen and possible causes and solution, but I simply don’t understand enough to see what applies to my laptop out of all that advice and the problems seem to be slightly different.
Looking back now the last few weeks it happened sometimes while being online, eg. watching iplayer, that the computer would shut down by itself and restart again, but I thought that has to do with automated updates, even if it might be bit odd that they happen without warning while using the computer. Not sure whether that’s connected to whatever problem I have.
Has anyone an idea of what is wrong and what I should do? I know that once I log off / turn off computer I’ll have to go through the procedure again tomorrow to start in safe mode after the blue screen, do system restore, uninstall and re-install mcaffee, which cannot be a permanent solution, nor am I sure whether I’m not causing any more damage by constantly going that way.
Many thanks for any (not too technical) help. If I should just go and see a computer specialist as I won’t have a chance to do anything myself with my more than basic knowledge, please let me know.
Windows 7, acer aspire 5732Z, intel pentium T4300, 4GB Memory, 500 GB HDD. I don’t have any other hardware connected to it. I’m using a wireless homehub internet connection, only thing that has ever been connected to laptop is a camera / cameracable for photodownload.
blue screen when starting up, error 0x000000ED
Hi, I have a Dell Inspiron N5110 with Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit pre-installed.
When I try to startup, it gets past the Windows logo then goes to the BSOD, error 0x000000ED .
I’ve tried booting in the Last Known Good Configuration, and Safe Mode.
The ‘Repair Your Computer’ option doesn’t do anything either.
I have backup disks made from the Dell Backup and Recovery Manager and tried using it.
It came up with this:
« Windows has failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause.
To fix the problem:
1. Insert your windows installation disc and restart your computer.
2. Choose your language settings and click next.
3. Click repair your computer.
If you do not have this disc, contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer for assistance.

info: the selected entry could not be loaded because the application is missing or corrupt. «
I’ve also tried using my second backup. It loaded successfully into a normal looking screen, but no window popped up with options to choose from.
Please help, I need it fixed ASAP!

2. Which options are you referring to?
3. Are you able to boot to the desktop now?
4. Did you re-install Windows using the second backup disk?
5. Are you getting blank desktop?

The main method to fix is to boot with a Windows 7 disk and use the Command Prompt to run :
(spaces after k , C: , and /f such as Chkdsk C: /f /r using just one space each time)

a Windows 7 Installation Disk as well.)

We can analyze the minidumps if you make them available from the SkyDrive or other file
sharing sites (such as MediaFire). If you have problems uploading the minidumps copy
them to the Desktop or the Documents folder and upload them from there.

Bug Check 0xED: UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME
The UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME bug check has a value of 0x000000ED. This indicates that the I/O subsystem attempted to mount the boot volume and it failed.
