Windows check memory parity error

[+] NMI: Parity Check/Memory Parity Error

Добрый день! Помогите, пожалуйста.
При загрузке вчера вылезла такая фигня:

***Hardware Mulfunction
Call your hardware vendor for support
NMI: Parity Check / Memory Parity Error
***The system has halted***

No Errors.

1.) NMI: Parity Check/Memory Parity Error on booting WinXp AND 2.) FAILED pre-Windows boot Video Hardware diagnostic test September 1, 2010__

I have a Dell Inspiron E1705 laptop with Win XP Pro, SP3 . I have 2 memory modules of 1 GB each for a total of 2 GB RAM memory. It also has adedicated graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce Go 7800 (which has been replaced with NEW cards of same model TWICE, after they burned out due to its cooling fan failure).

The system ran fine for several years until August 30, 2010 when the audio and video became intermittent (breaking up several times each second) until system froze — this happened while I was watching a news VIDEO on FoxNews.com viaAdobe FLASH player .

1.) On reboot, the system gets as far as the initial Windows startup screen, then I get the BLUE SCREEN with the following message:

***Hardware Malfunction ***

Call your Hardware Vendor for Support.

NMI: Parity Check/Memory Parity Error

***The System has Halted***

2.) I ran a BIOS pre-boot HARDWARE DIAGNOSTIC in whichONLY one of the VIDEO tests failed :

Error Code: 5300:0119

Msg: Detected a failure while writing and reading VIDEO MEMORY.Video mode: 0h (320x200x16) Address A0674h, expected to read 0h, but read 10000h instead.

3.) In «Safe Mode» I attempted a BIOS flash re-install, then a BIOS flash update, but it fails every time with the message that the«BIOS cannot be installed while a FLASH application is running» (even though I have opened NO programs) MP061 BIOS FLASH A09

Application return error: 0x00000610

Windows return error: 0x0000043c

4.) Attempt to «restore» the Registry from several working registry backups (made with «Advanced Registry Optimizer 2008» (by SammSoft) and Windows «System Restore» failed to make any changes to the registry.

Is this a Virus, Trojan, malware, etc? [Searches for same using McAfee AV, Spyware Doctor, Advanced Registry Optimizer 2008, and other software have yielded nothing that corrects the problem.] A failure of the graphics adapter memory? Interference by a hidden process (FLASH program) running in the background? THANKS !

Have you not heard of Google in the last 25+ years?

Here is the very first Google search result of: NMI: Parity Check/Memory Parity Error

That sounds pretty good to me.

I would politely recommend you stop «trying» things unless you are feeling really lucky!

How are you doing these registry restores and other things if your system will not boot?

I don’t think you can flash the BIOS in Safe Mode — how did you do that?

Someone will likely suggest you «test your RAM» but not tell you how to do it, so I will also suggest you test your RAM and also tell you how to do it:

Run a test of your RAM with memtest86+ (I know it is boring and will cost you a CD).

Memtest86+ is a more up to date version of the old memtest86 program and they are not the same.

The memtest86+ will not run under Windows, so you will need to download the ISO file and create a bootable CD, boot on that and then run the memtest86+ program.

If even a single error is reported that is a failure and should make you suspicious of your RAM.

If you have multiple sticks of RAM you may need to run the test on them one at a time and change them out to isolate the failure to a particular single stick.

Always keep at least the first bank of RAM occupied so the test will find something to do and there is enough to boot your system.

Sometimes, reseating the RAM in the slots will relieve the error but a failure is still cause for suspicion.

The file and instructions are here:

Here is a link that shows you have to create and use the memtest86+ CD:

If someone says to run memtest86, you can tell them to go pound sand and that you know memtest86+ supercedes memtest86 and here’s why:

Bluescreen error: «Parity Check Memory Parity Error»

Original title: Hulu and the blue screen of death—what is going on?

A few weeks ago I was watching a show on Hulu and got the blue screen of death. A reboot fixed it for a while, then I started getting blue screens even when not watching Hulu, or any other video for that matter. The message was ??MI Parity Check Memory Parity Error. (the first letter was off the screen and not readable) Once, I also got a message that said Kernal Stack Crash Dump, and several times a blue screen that had a message that went away before I could read it.

I am running Win7 Ultimate 32 bit on a Dell XPS. The computer originally had XP but was bought specificaly powered to use Vista, which was just coming out. I ran Vista till Win 7 came out. The Win7 was bought from Microsoft direct. While it is an old computer, the Dell folks tell me it is still a good video card (an Nvidia something). More on RAM below.

I ran the extended memory diagnostic and came up clean. On advice of Dell I did a clean reinstall of Win7 and at that time updated ALL my drivers for everything, including the video card. About a week later I upgraded from 2gig to 4 gig of RAM using memory purchased from Dell

Everything was fine till tonight (about a week after the memory upgrade) when I watched Hulu again. When I closed the tab (IE 8) after watching a show, the Blue Screen came back, same message about memory parity. I have run the boot diagnostics on the computer and my hardware seems OK. I will be talking to Dell software folks in the AM. I have googled AND Bing’d the web and can’t find any responses that don’t suggest what I have already tried—reinstall Win7, update drivers.

after the first blue screen but before the clean reinstall, I started getting all sorts of very strange problems. My favorite was when Windows decided it wasn’t Genuine and tried to stop Microsoft Security Essentials. I got the Win7 straight from Microsoft so I KNOW that was not the case.

While I think there must be some sort of corruption of Win 7 by the Hulu site (I watched from the website not the Windows Media Center) it seems to spread throughout Win7 thereafter and thus should be a concern of Win7 folks, not just a shuck-off to the Hulu folks. Does anyone have any idea WHY this is happening to people—more than just me, if Google/Bing are to be trusted.

The solution at this point is not to use Hulu, but I am afraid that the continuing corruption will recur, and I will not be a happy camper if I have to do another clean reinstall.

I don’t know if this happens with other streaming video sites since I don’t watch much video on my computer—I don’t think I’ve even been to YouTube lately. Streaming AUDIO (Rhapsody, XM radio) don’t seem to cause a problem.

Someone needs to research this and stop with the «update drivers» routine since that is in my case not the problem. Not sure about Bios, but when I gave the Dell tech my BiOS version he did’t seem to think it was relevant. Another Dell tech helped me update the drivers, and for all I know one of the things I downloaded was BIOS.

I do know that Dell doesn’t have drivers for my computer that are specific to Win7—just Vista. Is this something I should be pushing Dell to fix? All else works swimmingly with the Vista drivers Dell has on offer.

NMI Parity Check/Memory Parity Error

Windows Operating System (OS) users may encounter the NMI Parity Check/Memory Parity Error during the computer start-up process. The error is normally displayed when a computer hangs or stops responding during the Windows start-up process, and may be the result of a number of hardware or hardware configuration problems.

What does the NMI Parity Check/Memory Parity Error Look Like?

A number of error codes can be displayed when the error occurs. These include:

NMI: Parity Check/Memory Parity Error, NMI: Bus Timeout, NMI: Software NMI generated, NMI: Eisa IOCHKERR board x, NMI: Channel Check/IOCHK, or NMI: Fail-safe timer

The error codes typically start with the “*** Hardware Malfunction” message and a display message indicating that the computer or system has been “halted” follows.

Why does the NMI Parity Check/Memory Parity Error Occur?

The NMI Parity Check/Memory Parity error typically occurs if a computer hardware component is damaged, malfunctions, or if an incompatible driver is installed on the computer.

How to Fix the NMI Parity Check/Memory Parity Error

Most hardware problems that trigger this error involve the computer’s RAM, motherboard, cache memory, or a hardware adapter on the computer. The following are troubleshooting steps that can be taken to identify the cause of the error:

Verify Your Computer’s Memory

Step 1 – Remove any new RAM modules that have been installed on the computer.

Step 2 – Restart the computer to see if the error message continues to be displayed.

Step 3 – If the error is eliminated, then replace the RAM modules that were installed. If it persists, repeat the process but only leave the minimum amount of RAM necessary to boot the computer in order to determine if the computer has faulty RAM.

Step 4 – Replace the faulty RAM modules if they are the source of the problem.

The Microsoft RAM diagnostic tool found at: http://oca.microsoft.com/en/windiag.asp may also be used in order to help identify faulty computer modules.

Verify the Adapters on the Computer

Step 1 – Remove all adapters that are not required to run or start the computer. Most Windows computers can be run with only the video and drive subsystem controller adapters.

Step 2 – Restart the computer. If the error does not appear, then the problem is one of the adapters removed in step 1.

Step 3 – Reinstall one adapter at a time until the error is displayed again. This determines the adapter that was the source of the error. Visit the adapter manufacturer’s website and download and install the latest version.

Step 4 – Re-seat all adapter hardware cards if the error is not eliminated to ensure that this is not the cause of the problem.

Verify the Computer BIOS

Step 1 – Ensure that the latest revision of the computer’s BIOS and firmware configuration are installed.

Step 2 – Open the BIOS and change the configuration to “load Fail-safe defaults” or “BIOS defaults,” set “Plug and Play OS” to “No,” and disable anti-virus protection options located in the BIOS.

Step 3 – Restart the computer to see if the error has been corrected.

Check for Driver Updates

If Windows OS was recently upgraded or new hardware installed, then an outdated device driver may be the cause of the error.

Step 1 – Ensure that Windows Updates is configured to automatically update the computer from the “Windows Updates” application found in the computer’s “Control Panel.” Manually update the Operating System. Restart the computer after completing the manual Windows update.

Step 2 – If any new hardware was installed, remove the hardware drivers in the “Add/Remove Programs” menu after updating the OS in Step 1 and restart the computer.

Step 3 – Check the other device drivers installed on the computer for updates if the error is still being displayed and an update as required. Restart the computer after each device driver update to complete troubleshooting it.

Windows check memory parity error
