Windows Portable Devices (WPD) что это за программа и нужна ли она?

Всем хеллоу. Поговорим мы о такой штуке как Windows Portable Devices. Я постараюсь найти информацию об этом и напишу вам тут. Windows Portable Devices позволяет компьютеру нормально работать с подключенными устройствами хранения данных. А также со всякими мультимедийными устройствами, например телефон, камера и другие. То есть как я понимаю, то Windows Portable Devices участвует в общении компа с подключенными устройствами

WPD это типа платформа, на которой могут быть созданы приложения. И такие приложения могут иметь доступ к устройству, обмениваться данными, управлять устройством (например веб-камерой). В общем ребята, не особо все равно понятно что это, я лишь понял, что это нужно чтобы норм работали подключенные устройства к ПК.

Вот читаю на сайте Microsoft, что WPD это типа платформа переносных устройств. Типа это драйвер, который поддерживает многие портативные устройства.

Windows Portable Devices

Windows Portable Devices (WPD) enables computers to communicate with attached media and storage devices. WPD provides a flexible, robust way for computers to communicate with music players, storage devices, mobile phones, cameras, and many other types of connected devices. This system supersedes both Windows Media Device Manager and Windows Image Acquisition.

Applications that are built on WPD can explore a device, send and receive content, and even control the device, for example, take a picture or send a text message. The system is designed to be flexible so that many types of devices can be explored, and extensible so that driver developers can define custom properties and commands for custom devices.

You can write both Windows applications and Web applications with WPD. You use the WPD Application Programming Interface to create Windows applications. These applications can be written in C++, C# .Net, or Visual Basic .Net. You use the WPD Automation Object Model to write web applications. These applications are written in JScript and HTML.

The WPD Application Programming Interface is supported in Windows 7, Windows Vista, and Windows XP operating systems. The WPD Automation Object Model is only supported in Windows 7.

Updated: Если у вас win7 x64 и при подключении телефона программа вызывает ошибку — установите EasyBCD_2.0.2.exe ( 1,31 МБ )

В ней нажмите advanced settings, далее вкладка advanced и там поставьте галку «Allow installations of unsigned drivers on 64-bit Windows», а затем «save settings». Будьте внимательны, это разрешает установку неподписанных драйверов.
Также, если возникают какие-то проблемы, попробуйте установить предыдущую версию программы.
Updated 2.05.2011:
Добавлен фикс реестра для тех, у кого возникают проблемы с соединением («TouchXperience version 1.2.3.0 or later is required») на windows7 x64. Нужно применить этот файл на ПК — WPDeviceManagerFix.reg ( 306 байт )

Также, у кого проблемы с соединением, просто подключайтесь через вай-фай:

1. Подключите ваш телефон к компьютеру через usb. Не забудьте перед этим включить вай-фай
2. Запустите WPDM
3. После получения сообщения «TouchXperience version 1.2.3.0 or later is required» должен запуститься touchXperience(если не запустится — сделайте это вручную)
4. Отключите телефон от usb
5. В WPDM нажмите «connect»
6. Телефон должен определиться WPDM

Инструкция:
1. Скачайте Windows Phone Device Manager и запустите WPDeviceManager.exe
2. Подключите ваш телефон, система автоматически определит его, если нет — нажмите Connect в меню
3. При первом подключении телефона к компьютеру Windows Phone Device Manager автоматически установит на него TouchXperience. Если этого не произошло, установите xap-файл вручную.

Требования:
1. Зарегистрированный и разблокированный Windows Phone 7.5 аппарат;
2. Windows Vista или Windows 7 32/64-бит;
3. .NET Framework 4.0;
4. Windows Phone SDK 7.1 или более поздний;
5. Zune 4.8 или более поздний;
6. Zune WMDU (опционально);

В настоящий момент поддерживаются следующие устройства:
HTC HD7, HTC 7 Mozart, HTC 7 Trophy, HTC 7 Surround, HTC 7 Pro, HTC Arrive, HTC HD2, Samsung Focus, Samsung Omnia 7, Dell Venue Pro, LG Optimus 7, LG E900, LG C900, Nokia Lumia 800 и 710, Samsung Focus S, HTC TITAN и HTC Radar.

Portable Devices is not listed in my device manager

I’ve been trying to set up my Samsung Focus S (Windows Phone 7.5) on my Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit but there’s no portable devices tab in device manager. Whenever I connect my phone to the computer via USB cable, the sound from the phone and the USB symbol on the battery indicates that the device connected properly, but it does not show up in device manager because there is no portable devices tab.

1. Does the computer recognize other portable devices?
2. Have you tried to connect the phone to a different computer?

I suggest you to try to connect to a different USB port and check if it helps. You can try the following Microsoft article if the issue persists even after trying with a different USB port.

Windows Phone 8 is not detected by your computer

(Note: This applied to Windows phone 7.5 also).

Thank you for the reply. My laptop computer does not recognize any portable devices at all. I have a desktop and I plugged my iPhone and my old iPod Touch into it and both show up under Portable Devices. When I plugged my windows phone (the OS is 7.10.8773.98) into the desktop, it showed up under Universal Serial Bus Controllers as an unknown device and the desktop computer said that the drivers were not installed. However, none of these 3 show up on my laptop computer. I’m just trying to figure out why Portable Devices doesn’t show up on my laptop under device managers.

EDIT: Actually even when I plug any of my 3 devices (iPhone, iPod Touch, Windows Phone) into my laptop, nothing shows up in device manager. Weird.

If nothing connected to the USB port(s) on your laptop works, it’s time to consider that your laptop may be broken. The facts that the phone makes a sound and indicates that its battery is charging mean that the USB power has power . but those facts don’t mean anything with respect to the data connection.

Does the computer make the USB connection sound when you plug something in?

With one of the phones connected, open Devices and Printers. Is the phone listed there, perhaps under «Unspecified»?

Connect a USB flash drive (thumb drive) to a USB port.

Does it show up in My Computer?

With the USB flash drive connected to the USB port, is the «Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media» icon shown when you click «Show hidden icons»?

If you do see the icon, click on it; is the device you plugged in listed?

If you don’t see the «Safely remove» icon, press the Windows Logo Key + R to open the Run box, type the following command in it and click OK

rundll32.exe shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL hotplug.dll

Is the device listed in the Safely Remove Hardware dialog that appears?

In Device Manager, are there any warning icons anywhere, especially in the «Universal Serial Bus Controller» section or a section for Other or Unknown devices?

Check in your computer’s BIOS configuration utility to see if the USB ports have been disabled. For help on getting into the BIOS configuration utility, provide the make and model of your laptop.

Thank you for your reply. My laptop does make the USB connection sound when I plug something in, anything but my iPhone iPod Touch and Windows Phone They appear in my computer and in the safely remove media. I have an external hard drive, a flash drive, a USB controller, and they all work and show up where they’re supposed to. Just my devices don’t show up anywhere. Whenever I see that icon you referred to in your picture, it’s the device I plugged in.

Actually in device manager, everything is fine except under Other Devices. There’s Mass Storage Controller and Unknown Device, both of which have the yellow exclamation point. However, the unknown device is ALWAYS there, even if nothing is connected in my USB ports. Nothing else has the yellow exclamation point. And Portable Devices doesn’t show up.

Same problem with me. Every device works fine on this Hp laptop but my windows Lumia 800 is not listing under any list in the device manager.

I have applied everything in this article before and again now but unsuccessful.

The most important is my data in my laptop I can’t format as @MetallicFever316 did. Guide me another way.

I’m going to mention whats happening.

1. USB’s, Andriod phone’s, Iphone’s and other external hard drives are connecting, these devices showing in tray icon, under the portable devices in Device manager and in explorer as well.
2. When I connect my windows phone Lumia 800 (version 7.8), phone make sound and the plugin symbol on the battery indicates that means phone is charging and have enough power. Check screenshot of tray icon below (Phone has connected now)
3. There is no unknown devices under any list in the device manager. I’ve also checked to show «Show hidden devices» and «show disable devices». check screenshot below
4. I’m having this problem since November 2015, I’ve replaced this windows 7 (current) with windows 7 and windows 8.1.
