Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community.
As per the description, I understand that you are facing some issues using Windows 10.
This might have occurred due to some system conflicts.
I would like to know some information.
What is the make and model of your computer?
Try the methods.
Method 1:
I would suggest you to refer to the Help Article and check if that helps.
How to: Install and Update drivers in Windows 10.
Method 2:
Perform clean boot to avoid any third party software conflict.
To help troubleshoot error messages and other issues, you can start Windows by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This kind of startup is known as a «clean boot.» A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.
Putting your system in Clean Boot state helps in identifying if any third party applications or startup items are causing the issue. You need to follow the steps from the article mentioned below to perform a Clean Boot.
Note: Refer «How to reset the computer to start normally after clean boot troubleshooting» to reset the computer to start as normal after troubleshooting.
Method 3:
Run the System File Checker tool (SFC.exe)
System File Checker is a utility in Windows that allows users to scan for corruptions in Windows system files and restore corrupted files. It will scan your system files and to repair missing or corrupted system files in Windows. To run the SFC scan, refer to the Microsoft article below.
Hope this information helps. Please let us know if you need any other assistance with Windows in future. We will be happy to assist you.

When try to update the drivers «Windows has determined the driver software for your device is up to date.»
Original title: Force driver update with local files
I have a device which windows believes is a mouse when it is not. When I try to update the driver with the correct driver I have locally, I get this message, «Windows has determined the driver software for your device is up to date.» Is there any way to get around this and install the proper drivers? Thank you in advance.

The device is an olimex EEG-STM (website), my computer is custom built but the specs are:
System Manufacturer: MSI
System Model: MSI-7916
System Type: x64-based PC
The desired drivers are compatible with Windows 10 (proof)
I tried Method 1 as well as Method 2 but neither worked. For method 1, after I restart, my device is still configured as a mouse. for method 2, the troubleshooter was unable to solve the problem and the driver did not show up within hide updates. Is there not a way to just force driver update?

I am having a somewhat similar, although puzzlingly worse issue.
Hello. Name’s Trent.
My grandpa has been using this E6510 for a while. He just purchased a new laptop I believe is a 5520. He kept the hard drive out of the current E6510 I’m using and gave me the Solid State Drive out of 5520. It didn’t take me long in screen time to notice a very peculiar impurity that I dislike very much. It isn’t able to sleep. The sleep option in the start menu is completely greyed out and not functional. I mingled through the power settings to see if that was the issue. Changed many advanced settings to see if it would cure anything. Nothing worked. My curiosity took me to check the graphics driver. I opened up device manager, checked the display adapters and saw that «Standard VGA Graphics Adapter» was currently installed. I opened up it’s properties to see it’s info. It’s driver date is «6/21/2006» and it’s driver version is «6.1.7600.16385». It was clear as a full moon in the clear night sky that this was not something I wanted. I went online to «https://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/81500/Intel-HD-Graphics-3000» and downloaded the latest version of HD Graphics Driver for Windows 7/8-64-bit. Version 15.28.24.64.4229. And in case you’re wondering. Yes. My E6510 has Windows 7-64-bit OS. Now, with the driver file sitting on my desktop, all that’s left is «Out with the old, In with the new.» Although, the major issue I’m having is that I can’t for the life of me get the Old Out. My computer simply refuses to get rid of «Standard VGA Graphics Adapter.» When I try to update driver software, I get a message saying, «Windows has determined that the driver software for your device is up to date.» Didn’t realize it was still 2006. And when I try to just install the new driver, I get another message saying, «This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software.» I am at a complete loss and have almost about had it with this situation. I also tried uninstalling «Standard VGA Graphics Adapter.» But upon restarting my computer, it’s reinstalled. Also tried disabling it. That didn’t get me anywhere. I would like very much for someone to help explain why I’m having so much trouble with such a simple task.
Thank you in advance.

USB device not recognized;driver version 6.1.7600.16445;__Port_#0003.Hub_#0001
I bought a new PC 2 weeks ago: HP Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (AMD Sempron LE-1250 processor; 2.20 GHz; RAM 3 GB.), and when the setup person finished setting it up for me, a pop-up box (balloon) appeared in the taskbar saying I had a USB problem. I asked the person to fix it, but he said not to worry about it because all the drivers were all right. (But I do worry about it!) The alert appears each time I restart the computer.
The alert says: «One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and windows does not recognize it.
USB: Unknown Device
DRIVER VERSION: 6.1.7600.16445 (date by Microsoft 6/21/2006)
DEVICE STATUS: «Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems (Code 43).»
DRIVER DETAILS: «No driver files are required or have been loaded for this device.»
UPDATE DRIVER: Results say, «The best driver software for your device is already installed. Windows has determined the driver software for your device is up to date.»
USB ROOT HUB (10 ports)
. UNKNOWN DEVICE
FYI: I don’t know if this makes a difference, but I have an HP deskjet 6127 printer. the setup person could not locate a driver for it, so he found a compatible driver (something like 930?), and the printer works just fine.
I’ve spent the last 2 weeks off and on trying to solve this problem, and only a few minutes ago did I run across the following informaton after I searched «Driver Version 6.1.7600.16445».
hXX p://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Lockups-Freezes-Hangs/Driver-update-for-Win7-USB-issue-on-nVidia-chipset-systems-now/m-p/188193
AND IT «PARTIALLY» STATES:
12-17-2009 04:40 PM
HP has submitted a software update (SoftPaq SP44620) to HP Customer Care containing Microsoft’s QFE KB976972 update to resolve USB issues on certain HP consumer desktop systems:
1) System is running Windows 7
2) System has an nVidia chipset
3) System has 4GB of RAM or more
The update has been submitted to and is in process to appear on the software and driver download page for the affected systems, however here is a direct link to download it now:
ftp:(BLAH, BLAH, BLAH)
Customers who have already downloaded the QFE update from Microsoft’s support site do not need to reapply it.
Here is the readme from the update:
Microsoft Host Controller Driver Update
Description: Microsoft Host Controller driver update resolves an issue with
the system not responding or behaving abnormally when a USB device is
connected.
Category: Operating System — Enhancement and QFEs
The above instructions say that the System has 4GB of RAM, or more. and I only have 3GB, so that confuses me. AND, since I don’t know if the above issue really pertains to me, there is no way I’m going to download something of which I am unsure of .
OK, I know this is lengthy, but I hope I’ve included enough information for someone to actually help solve my problem.
EDIT: UPDATE. I just discovered that I do have the KB976972 update installed ; I missed it the first time I looked somehow; sorry! SO. this means my problem is something else.
UPDATE: PROBLEM SOLVED!
My «USB:Unknown Device» turned out to be my deskjet 6127 series printer that my PC setup person couldn’t get to work for me, necessitating him to choose a 990c model driver substitute from the internet instead.
I had run «troubleshooting» before, but this time was different for me, and this is what happened:
Go to :
(1) Control Panel
(2) Select: Action Center
(3) Select: Windows Program Compatibility Troubleshooter (bottom left-hand side of page)
. Select: Troubleshooting
(4) Select: Hardware and Sound
. Select: Configure a Device
(5) Click: Next
After I clicked on «Next», the troubleshooting began and all of a sudden my power went off totally (my lamp, too). but just for a «split-second» . and then the troubleshooting kept running for a few seconds longer; VOILA — MY PROBLEM HAD BEEN DETECTED AND SOLVED!
P.S. For what it’s worth, I felt the need to post my results here in hopes that maybe (. ) someone else «might be able to benefit somehow» (in some small way) from my problem-solving experience.

«windows has determined the driver software for your device is up to date»
My ultimate goal here is to force Windows to change a driver that it reports to be «up to date».
I have a USB based touchscreen that worked fine up until about 2 weeks ago. The device now shows up in device manager as an unknown device. Updating the device driver by pointing to the mfg’s INF file results in the above ‘error’:
Windows has determined the driver software for your device is up to date
And the device remains ‘unknown’.
Steps taken so far:
1. Reinstall Driver letting windows choose
2. Reinstall Driver from specific location
3. Use mfg’s install/setup routine
4. Remove All USB devices (Hubs/Roots) from Device manager and let windows rebuild per : http://www.daniweb.com/forums/thread249370.html
5. repeat 2
6. change the physical location of the touchscreens motherboard connection (this is a 46″ touchscreen, it is «hardwired» to the motherboard in the same location you would add additional USB cards.).
7. repeat 2
8. Complete win7 reinstall.
9. repeat 2
There is an error on the device in all instances error (43): Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems
Is there a way I can STOP windows from installing it’s dummy driver and forcing me to keep it? The device is brand new
