Windows hp pavilion dv9000

Upgrade Note:

HP Pavilion DV9000 released by HP with Windows Vista Operating system. So upgrading to windows 7 requires drivers that not available on the available support page but available on Hp database and vendor website. After few research and feedback, here i list several points that worth to know:

1. There are only 2 types of HP Pavilion DV9000 available which is with Intel Processor and With AMD Processor.

2. HP Pavilion DV9000 with Intel Processor need : All drivers except for chipset and Ethernet. Chipset use Intel chipset installation utility, Intel rapid storage technology and Realtek LAN Ethernet driver.

3. HP Pavilion DV9000 with AMD Processor Need: All drivers except for chipset use Nvidia chipset. Ethernet already in the chipset installation package. 2 Nvidia chipset drivers available because some model use Nvidia Nforce AR chipset.

4. Wireless : There are 3 applicable wireless Drivers, so you need to choose which work for you.

Additional notes
1. Intel Graphic drivers: Downloads also available on intel site for 32-bit and 64-bit.

2. For Nvidia graphic drivers if the drivers above failed to install, use this drivers:

3. If you have your vista drivers, normally some driver will work on windows 7 by run it as admin and set the compatibility mode for windows vista.

4. Fingerprint: Model with fingerprint driver can install this driver and install in compatibility mode for windows vista is recommended.

Loaded win 10 64 bit on my dv9000. Device manager shows missing drivers as follows. Base system device, PCI bus 7, device 5, functions 2, 3 and 4. Also Unknown device ACPI \ HPQ0006. The coprocessor was also missing but I found it on this forum and it works fine even though it was for win vista. Also need the Nvidia graphics driver as it is currently running on generic microsoft driver. Thanks for your help!

The dv9000 model series ranges from dv9000 — dv9999.

Please post the product number of your dv9000, so I can provide the right set of drivers you need.

There are basically two sets of drivers. a set for the dv9000 — dv9499, and a set for the dv9500 on up.

The product number can be found on the same label as the serial number.

Please do not post the serial number.

The unknown device (0006) needs this driver. I’m surprised W10 didn’t install that device automatically.

When I enter that product number in HP’s support site, it returns a ‘not assigned’ message.

Is there any other model description on the bottom label other than dv6000?

Here are the links to the drivers you need for the graphics and base system device.

Graphics: You will have to manually install this driver as follows. Download and run the driver below. You will most likely get an unsupported operating system error. Close out of any error windows.

Go to the device manager. Click to expand the display adapters device manager category.

Click on the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter. Click on the driver tab. Click on Update Driver. Select the Browse my computer for driver software option, and browse to the driver folder that was created when you ran the file.

That folder will be located in C:\SWSeup\sp35686.

Make sure the Include Subfolders box is checked, and the driver should install.

Then restart the PC.

Hi Paul, we were doing great untill the graphics driver. I downloaded the driver and as you expected a manual install was needed. Went to device manager and proceeded with the update driver. Pointed it to the proper location. As it was doing its thing the display changed to an unreadable state, horozontally torn. I waited several minutes to see if it might come back. It didn’t. Shut down with the power button. Upon starting all was well untill the sign in screen at which point the display goes blank and stays that way. I tried the key combination windows key+ctrl+shift+b . That produced an audible beep, the display changed to black for a few seconds then returned to blank. After a few more attempts I just started in safe mode and rolled back the driver. I noticed in the earlier e-mail you sent me asking for more info off the labels on the machine so you could identify the proper driver that you wrote DV6000 instead of DV9000. I assumed that to be a typo. Any chance you accidently picked the wrong driver? If not ( I doubt it could be that easy anyway) have any ideas? Thanks again.

Windows 7 drivers for Pavilion dv9000

I own a Pavilion dv9076eu laptop, which came with XP preinstalled. I’ve worked with XP (Pro x86) for a while, but then HP stopped updating it’s driver, so I moved to Vista (Ultimate x86).

I now want to move on to Windows 7 (x86, Pro or Ultimate).

Is there any chance that Windows 7 drivers will be released for my machine anytime in the future?

If not, can other O/S drivers be used with 7?

HP does not plan to support the dv9000 series notebooks with Windows 7 drivers or software. See the statement here:

The notebook may be compatible with Windows 7 but still not supported by HP. HP won’t recommend it but if you decide to upgrade there may be ways to find the drivers you need. For one, Microsoft has included many more drivers in Windows 7 than previous OS releases. Windows Update may be able to provide what you are looking for. If it’s possible to ‘upgrade’ and not do a custom or clean installation then you’ll find that a lot of the Vista drivers will work in Windows 7. And if all else fails, this forum is available. Make recovery discs if you haven’t already.

I will try to install Win7 and hope for the best.

I checked laptopvideo2go and they still haven’t released Win7 drivers for my 7600go. I hope they will, soon.

I also read that 7 can take some Vista drivers, but I’ll have to try to find out which ones.

I’m no driver expert, but I can’t think of reason for a machine to not be compatible with an OS, apart of the need to write new drivers, compatible to that particular OS. Although almost 3 years old, my machine is well above the minimum required specs for 7 (upgraded to 2GB RAM and a 320gb 7200 HDD), and I wish that HP would internalize the fact that I’m (and a lot others are) still their customer, and that their lack of action towards making OS upgrade options will reduce the chance that I’ll purchase their wares in the future. I can relate to HP’s reluctance to support Ubuntu, as Microsoft has it’s long arm around many corporation’s neck, but this has nothing (as I see it) to do with Microsoft. This is pure greediness, that could make the opposite impact in the future.

I actually have a dv9000 laptop myself so I was floored when I found out that HP would only support a few of the top laptop models for Windows 7 drivers. After doing alot of research and countless tinkering, I found the way to counteract at least one of the many woes many of you are feeling, updating NVIDIA GPU Drivers.

What I did was I went to HP’s support site and downloaded their softpaq solution including the NVIDIA drivers for Vista (in my case, the 64-bit version). When it tries to install, it will fail saying that the version of Windows you’re using is not Vista. By all means let it fail but don’t exit unless you do so by the installer. This is where the next part comes in.

Go to the Screen Resolution Settings under Display and click on Advanced Settings. At this point, it should show you the properties of your card starting on the Adapter tab. Click on Properties and then the Driver tab. At this point, click on the Update Driver button and then click on the «Browse my computer for driver software.» For my software, I found it under «C:/swsetup/sp42365/WinVista64.» If you remember which softpaq file you downloaded, finding your path should be a piece of cake. After all of that, it should finally recognize your video card and ask you to reboot. If you’re successful, you should be back at that 1400×900 resolution we all love.

I’ll keep researching to see if the other softpad drivers react the same. I wish that HP at least tells people about this option since it’s fairly easy to follow.
