Windows mail error messages

Windows Mail error, «Message cannot be found» and emails are lost

Problems with windows mail:
Click on any message in a folder and get the same one opening
Move any message to Inbox and then all messages remaining in folder show «Message Cannot be found»
Move new message to folder and when opened it shows content from another message
Generally messages are scrambled and/or lost — not sure
Virus software up to date and scanned
Able to send/receive fine, only problems with drag and drop/move messages to other folders
Only variable that has changed is the file compression, now turned off but still no change when trying to mvoe files then open
Backup useless because files get corrupted/screwed up before backup

How do i get my emails back? How do I get Windows Mail working properly so I can trust it. Microsoft useless for support — they want cash though it is a new machine, they say OEM should provide support, but OEM can’t fixt and referred me to Microsoft.

Hi B_Mac,
Welcome to Microsoft Answers.

You may try these:
A) Try scanning the computer using Antivirus software because this issue can occur if the computer is infected with virus. You can do a PC Safety scan by clicking on the link http://onecare.live.com/site/en-us/default.htm and Clicking on the Full Service scan and accept the Agreement.

B) This issue might also be because the User Profile is corrupted, so create a new profile if the above step does not resolve. Then configure Windows Mail and check if its working.
1. Open User Accounts by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking User Accounts and Family Safety, and then clicking User Accounts.
2. Click Manage another account. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
3. Click Create a new account.
4. Type the name you want to give the user account, click an account type, and then click Create Account.
“Setting up Windows Mail “http://windows.microsoft.com/en-AU/windows-vista/Getting-started-with-e-mail#section_2

C) To recover the lost emails try these:
For Windows Mail, by default, the data is stored in the location C:\Users\ \AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Mail
Check if the data is present in that folder. If it is present you can import the data to the Windows mail.

i. Open Windows Mail by clicking the Start button , clicking All Programs, and then clicking Windows Mail.
ii. Click the File menu, point to Import, and then click Messages.
iii. Click Windows mail, and then click Next.
iv. Make sure Import mail from a windows mail store directory is selected, and then click OK.
v. Click Browse, find the windows mail folder(C:\Users\ \AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Mail) you copied to this computer, and then click the folder once to select it. (Do not open the folder when you select it.)
vi. Click Select Folder, and then click Next.
vii. Click All folders to import all the folders, or click Selected folders and select which message folders you want to import, and then click Next.
viii. Click Finish.

Windows Mail Error Messages

I have Windows Vista Home Premium installed on my Dell computer and run Windows Mail version 6. ISP is BT

When I open up Windows Mail, I am told that new messages are being received however, I usually only receive one new message before the following error messages appear:

Message number 219 could not be retrieved. Account: ‘mail.btinternet.com’, Server: ‘mail.btinternet.com’, Protocol: POP 3, Server Response: ‘-ERR inactivity timeout’, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800 CCC 90, Error Number: 0x800420CD

Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Account: ‘mail.btinternet.com’, Server: ‘mail.btinternet.com’, Protocol: POP 3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800 CCC 0F

The only way I can get the remaining new messages is to shut down and re-open Windows Mail for each new message, which can be very frustrating.

Can anyone suggest how I can solve this problem, your help would be very much appreciate.
