Windows Version Support

The current Apache OpenOffice supports Microsoft Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 10.

Specific platform version notes:

• Windows 2000: OpenOffice may work on Windows 2000, but we don’t test or recommend it.
• Windows XP: Tested, stable, no platform-specific problems known.
• Windows Vista: Tested, stable, no platform-specific problems known.
• Windows 7: Tested, stable.
• Windows 8, 10: We run as a “desktop application”, not a Metro “App”. Requires x86 or 64-bit Windows. We do not support Windows RT, the ARM-based version, intended for tablets.

Please note: Apache OpenOffice is distributed as a 32-bit application. It will run successfully in 32-bit mode on 64-bit versions of Windows 7, 8 and 10. But in those cases a 32-bit JVM is required for some functionality. Details are here.

Hardware Requirements

Hardware demands are quite modest and even older machines should be able to run OpenOffice:

• Memory: Minimum 256 Mbytes RAM (512 MB RAM recommended).
• Storage: At least 650 Mbytes available disk space for a default install via download. After installation and deletion of temporary installation files, Apache OpenOffice will use approximately 440 Mbytes disk space.
• Graphics: 1024 x 768 or higher resolution with at least 256 colors.

Calc is the spreadsheet application you’ve always wanted. Newcomers find it intuitive and easy to learn; professional data miners and number crunchers will appreciate the comprehensive range of advanced functions.

DataPilot is an advanced technology that makes it easy to pull in raw data from corporate databases; cross-tabulate, summarize, and convert it into meaningful information.

Scenario Manager allows “what if …” analysis at the touch of a button — e.g. compare profitability for high / medium / low sales forecasts.

Calc’s solver component allows solving optimization problems where the optimum value of a particular spreadsheet cell has to be calculated based on constraints provided in other cells.

Multiple users support — Encourage collaborative work on spreadsheets. By sharing a spreadsheet, other users can easily add their data to the spreadsheet. The spreadsheet owner can then easily integrate the new data with a few clicks. This collaboration feature helps avoid editing conflicts.

Save your spreadsheets in OpenDocument format, the new international standard for office documents. This XML based format means you’re not tied in to Calc. You can access your spreadsheets from any OpenDocument compliant software.

You are free to import your old Microsoft Excel spreadsheets, or save your work in Excel format for sending to people who are using Microsoft products. Calc is able to read .xlsx files created with Microsoft Office 2007 or Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac OS X.

If you want to send your results to someone who doesn’t have a spreadsheet application installed, then use Portable Document Format (.pdf) — no need to buy or install any extra software.

Italian region adopts OpenOffice, saves 2 Million Euro

10 October 2013: The Italian administrative region of Emilia-Romagna announced plans to move to OpenOffice, saving 2 million euro.

Volunteers, not Amateurs

8 January 2013: Apache OpenOffice is developed 100% by volunteers. Apache does not pay for developers, for translators, for QA, for marketing, for UI, for support, etc. Of course, we’re happy to accept donations to the Apache Software Foundation, to keep our servers runnings and for similar overhead expenses. But our products are developed entirely by volunteers.

OpenOffice Calc – достойная замена Excel

Пакет программ OpenOffice содержит большое количество полезных и востребованных в работе современного пользователя редакторов, одним из которых стал Опен Офис Калк.

OpenOffice Calc – это программа, которая позволяет создавать таблицы в электронном виде и является абсолютно бесплатным аналогом всем знакомого MS Excel. Поскольку скачать OpenOffice Calc можно бесплатно и в русской версии, ее популярность среди пользователей с каждым днем только увеличивается. Опен Офис Калк – это очень простой софт, на освоение функционала которого у обычного юзера уйдет не более нескольких минут.

Возможности OpenOffice Calc

Чтобы воспользоваться всеми преимуществами русской версии OpenOffice Calc, программу нужно предварительно скачать и установить на свое компьютерное устройство, после загрузки утилиты можно пользоваться следующими функциями:

• создавать и обрабатывать электронные таблицы в различных форматах. В распоряжении пользователя русской версии OpenOffice Calc свыше 20 видов таблиц;
• экспортировать таблицы в Опен Офис Calc из сторонних источников;
• пользоваться встроенными в OpenOffice Calc формулами для работы с математической информацией;
• выбирать формат ячеек таблиц и добавлять к ним комментарии;
• копировать в промежуточное хранилище данных нужную информацию;
• добавлять графики и гистограммы;
• распознавать взаимосвязь между ячейками таблиц в автоматическом режиме;
• изменять фон и тему странички OpenOffice Calc;
• работать в обычном, полноэкранном режиме или в режиме разметки страниц;
• проверять текст на наличие орфографических ошибок.

Интерфейс Опен Офис Калк

Тот, кто первый раз закачал, установил и открыл русскую версию OpenOffice Calc, заметит внешнюю схожесть программы с Exel. Схожесть наблюдается не только в разделах основного меню Опен Офис Calc, но и в формате ячеек таблицы, в заливке и в видах их обрамления.

Отличительной особенностью OpenOffice Calc является менее загроможденный интерфейс по сравнению с Exel, кроме того, в Exel при подведении курсора к ячейке таблицы появляется плюс, а в Опен Офис Калк остается символ курсора.

Как работать в OpenOffice Calc

OpenOffice Calc не является самостоятельным софтом, а входит в программный пакет OpenOffice. Чтобы приступить к работе с этой утилитой, ее нужно скачать и установить на компьютер. В данный момент в широком доступе есть и русская версия Опен Офис Калк.

После установки и запуска OpenOffice Calc в программе можно производить следующие операции:

• чтобы создать документ OpenOffice Calc в верхнем горизонтальном меню нужно выбрать «Файл», кликнуть на «Создать» и выбрать «Электронная таблица». Эти же действия может заменить набор простой комбинации кнопок «Ctrl+N». После этого табличку можно заполнять, вводить текстовую, числовую информацию и формулы;
• чтобы открыть документ, нужно в верхнем горизонтальном меню выбрать «Файл», кликнуть на «Открыть» и выбрать требуемый документ;
• чтобы сохранить документ, нужно в верхнем горизонтальном меню выбрать «Файл», нажать на «Сохранить» или сделать это при помощи комбинации клавиш «Ctrl+S»;
• чтобы распечатать документ, необходимо в меню выбрать «Файл», кликнуть на «Печать» или воспользоваться горячими клавишами «Ctrl+P».

В OpenOffice Calc можно делать расчеты, анализировать информацию, составлять прогнозы, строить диаграммы и прочие графические конструкции, сортировать сведения. На сегодняшний день Опен Офис Калк является лучшей заменой MS Excel, кроме того, русскую версию программы можно скачать абсолютно бесплатно.
