Windows query user access denied

WMI access denied error when query remote computer from ASP.NET

I have an ASP.NET application that executes a WMI call to a remote system. The application Web.config contains and options which, as I understand, should force the application code to be executed on behalf of the application user.

The problem is that I get «Access is denied» error, despite the fact I can successfully execute the my WMI request from PowerShell console on the same host under the same user to the remote server in question.

Dumping HttpContext.Current.User.Identity.Name, System.Security.Principal.WindowsIdentity.GetCurrent().Name, System.Threading.Thread.CurrentPrincipal.Identity.Name properties suggest that impersonation works as expected.

Ideas? Could the issue be some kind of .NET or IIS security?

You need to have a domain administrator enable Delegation for your web server machine. This is a security feature of Kerberos. By default an intermediate server (in this case your web server) is not allowed to pass the impersonation context of a client to the remote server unless it has been given Delegation permission. If you don’t do this the remote target server will see the request coming in as Anonymous User. which if its properly secured will be denied access.

Note its a common policy to only allow an intermediate server to delegate to specific target servers (called constrained delegation), so if your web app needs to be able to call WMI on any server in your network you may have problem. Talk to your domain admin.

It seems as though my PHP is trying to log in to the MySQL database with a username I am not supplying.

The error I am getting is:

I am definitely supplying a password, and am not using «radiocaf» as the username in my connect file, so after 3 hours of staring, I still can’t work out where I am going wrong.

Here is my code:

psl-config.php:

db_connect.php

and then finally, the main page which is where I am receiving the error (I have cut out the HTML between the PHP:

The surrounding HTML is just the layout of the page, essentially just a photoshop layout, sliced and exported to web.

I am fairly new to PHP and so I hope this question is as explained as possible.

Thanks so much guys, I apologise that this question seemed poor to some of you that you flagged it. Unfortunately I wouldn’t have seen the «typos» as I really didn’t know that I was attempting to use both mysql and mysqli and that they couldn’t «communicate» with each other. Another issue I found was Dreamweaver uploaded the code from layout.php as db_connect.php. This doesn’t explain (to me at least) how any connection was being made to bring up the access denied error for ‘radiocaf’@’localhost’ though.

Here’s the old code lines I changed (in layout.php):

And that’s all it took, but I am entirely grateful! Thanks again everyone!

Error indicates that you wont have required privileges to install the application to that particular system drive. Right-click on the application(.exe) file and select Run as administrator installing the same. Do f ollow the below mentioned steps and heck if it helps.

Method 1:

Open the properties of the main User Profile folder where the files are located (such as Documents, Pictures, etc.). You can open the properties of a particular folder by Right-clicking on it and select Properties from context menu.

Go to the Security tab and click Advanced. Check the box at the bottom of this window. It is labeled «Replace all child object permissions with inheritable permissions from this object» and then click Ok.

This does a one-time action that replaces the security on all the files/subfolders. It’s one-time, so you won’t find that box checked if you peek at it later. Please let us know if it’s working

Method 2:

* Press Windows Key + R , type netplwiz

* Click and highlight the User profile, which you want to make administrator

* Click on Properties , then select the Group Membership tab

* Select the Administrator, Click apply/ok

WMI Access Denied while Win32_Service query

I’m using WMI to retrieve REMOTE computer services. To check the results I try WMIC like:

WMIC /NODE:»hostname» /USER:»login» /PASSWORD:»pwd» OS

WMIC /NODE:»hostname» /USER:»login» /PASSWORD:»pwd» SERVICE etc.

Everything’s fine on Win server 2k3 machines. But on a new Win server 2k8 it works everything but not SERVICE alias — I just get «0x80041003 Access Denied». I’ve got this error while remote query (there’s no error if I query the SERVICE locally on the server itself).

My user is a admin on this server. I’ve check Local Security Policies, give permission to the user from root/CIMV2 namespace for remoteEnable, DCOM permission for Remote Access, Remote Lunch, Remote Activation. I’ve try to enable logging but couldn’t find any usefull info. I’ve read tens articles on this theme but couldn’t find answer either.

Here http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee692772.aspx I’ve read: «0x80041003 (WBEM_E_ACCESS_DENIED) This typically results when the process trying to access the namespace does not have the required WMI privileges. The account attempting remote access should be an administrator on the target computer; in addition, the account might need to have a specific privilege enabled. To troubleshoot this error, check the namespace security on the remote namespace to see the privileges enabled for the account.»

So, I’ve done all recommended action with no result.

WHY I can successfully query all aliases (means the user has all necessary rights) but not SERVICE? Now I already don’t have any ideas and ask for help.

There are several methods to remove such a file:

1. Process Explorer if the file is in use:
You can use ProcessExplorer from Windows Sysinternals to identifiy which program locks the file. Download and start ProcessExplorer and go to Find|Find Handle or DLL. Ctrl+F and enter the name of the locked file: 1.mp3 .

ProcessExplorer will show you the process that is responsible for the lock because of accessing the file. If you’ve got the proccess kill that one and delete the file.

Example with MS Word accessing a file called LockedFile.docx:

2. Safe mode boot:
Another possibility is to boot into safe mode. In pre Windows 8 era this was done by pressing F8 before Windows boots.
In Windows 8 and higher you can press Shift + F8 before Windows boots or more easily you can hold Shift and click Restart in the login screen or even in Windows. If this was too short, look here how to get into safe mode.

Once you’re in the safe mode you can try again deleting that file.

3. Remove file on Windows boot via PendingFileRenameOperations:
With PendingFileRenameOperations you can rename and even delete a file on Windows boot procedure when nothing else can access and block that file. PendingFileRenameOperations will be entered in the Windows registry and consists of pairs of file paths.

You can do it manually as described below or again with a Windows Sysinternals program called MoveFile. Download that program and use it in a console window (Start -> Run or Windows-Key + R , type cmd and press ENTER ).
Type movefile foo.exe «» to delete a file on reboot.

Manual method via registry:
The 1st path is the file to be renamed.
The 2nd path is the new file path. If the 2nd path is empty (0x0000) the file get’s removed.
