Whys and Wherefores
The Windows 7 operating system suddenly restarts on its own during use.
Cause
The cause of the problem is that Windows 7 is set by default to automatically restart the operating system after a system failure.
Solution
It is recommended that you cancel automatic restart. If you restart after every system failure, then you will not be able to see some error messages. At «Start» -> «Computer» —> right click on «Properties», and then tap «Advanced system settings».
In the advanced options of the system context menu, click on «Settings» for Startup and Recovery.
In Startup and Recovery, uncheck the «Automatically restart» for system failure. Click «OK» after unchecking the checkbox.

My PC is taking restart. From yesterday night and showing «PC run into problem contact to Microsoft for solving the problem. Please help me to find out the problem.

1. Do you remember making any software or hardware changes on the computer prior to the issue?
2. Are you able to boot in normal mode?
3. What is the make and model number of the laptop?
This issue may occur due to any recent software or hardware changes on the computer or due to any system file corruption.
If you are able to boot in normal mode, then let’s try the following steps and check.
You may check in Event viewer regarding what is causing the issue.
a. Press Windows Key + X on the desktop screen and select Event Viewer.
b. This will bring up the Event Viewer box. Click to open the event viewer.
c. In the left pane, expand out Windows Logs.
d. Click on Application log. Highlight the first event in the log and use your arrow keys to scroll down. Most of your event will be Information. You may see Yellow Warnings or Red Errors. If you see a red error, you can double click on it to bring it up and copy the contents to a document.
Step 1:
Unplug all the external devices connected to your system (except the Keyboard and mouse) and check.
Step 2:
You may try running the Windows Updates and install all the available updates including the optional driver and firmware updates.
You may also refer to the computer manufacturer website to install the latest version of chipset and other device drivers and check.
If you are unable to boot in normal mode, then you may try performing System Restore using Windows 8 installation media from Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE) and check.
Perform System Restore from Advanced Options screen.
a) After you boot your computer using Windows or System Repair media, a black screen appears with gray text «Press any key to boot from CD or DVD«. Press any key.
b) Select the correct time and Keyboard type.
c) Click Repair your computer in the lower left corner.
d) Select Troubleshoot from Choose an option screen.
e) Click Advanced options in Troubleshoot screen.
f) Select System Restore.
g) Follow the onscreen instructions to restore the computer to an earlier point before the issue occurred.
If “System restore” fails, then try performing an Automatic repair from the advanced boot options and check.

To be clear, I am looking for known issues with these vendors where their products cause faults in «ntkrnlmp.exe»?
And you suspect a hardware issue, so the best I can do is narrow down hardware at this stage (assuming software changes don’t resolve it)?
1A: this mobo is old. The most recent drivers (which I’m using) are from 2015.
There is one newer BIOS that «Update Haswell CPU Microcode to revision 24 and Broadwell CPU Microcode to revision 1D.» I can install this, no problem.
1B: I recently stopped using the Nvidia Experience to update my chipset drivers and have been getting them manually from the maker (EVGA). Is this not recommended?
2: This is a bit of a problem, as it’s how I remote into my work computer (from this computer). However, since lockdown I have been leaving it running all the time, even when disconnected. Maybe just exiting this program when not working would be sufficient to prevent the random shutdowns?
3: None ever, whatsoever with this build.
4: I did a blow out just 2 months ago. I can shut down, do another, then reseat everything, no problem.
And then move on to the tests. Is the point of the tests to cause a fault, and then use Driver Verifier to trace the fault back?
The «further analysis» indicating the Nvidia driver and Intel Gigabit Ethernet drivers is interesting because:
- That’s too new to be my chipset LAN drivers
- I can always cause a crash by playing No Man’s Sky over my Steam Link
I had always assumed it was taxing the video card, but it has persisted with the lowest settings. and it continues to happen any time I play on the Steam Link.

1. As I said, «ntkrnlmp.exe is a Windows component which means something else drove them into Fault.» Finding out what caused it is the problem as it can be either hardware or software though it sure looks like a hardware problem. Until you find that cause everything is a possibility. you can put some things on the back burner, meaning less likely, however, you can never absolutely rule anything out.
2. Best to check with Nvidia direct as EVGA may not be carrying all the latest versions.
(Though check both providers.)
3. There are minor hints that OC has been in play, though that is not a sure thing.
No, hopefully covering the troubleshooting steps will resolve the problem. DriverVeiifier is just another step in case all has failed and we need to further rule out possible software causes.
Often these issues are fixed without ever discovering the exact cause. It is hardware then the next step is to try swapping known good parts in and out (which can be very difficult in the home environment).
You might want to consider a Clean Install of Windows that also removes almost all software causes and further implicates hardware if the issue remains.
My bet is this is a hardware problem (having done many many thousands of these I am often on point though certainly not perfect by any means).
windows 10 restart error message and problems
My Problem is this.
I received an update from windows called nividia display update 29/12/2016 212113754 on the 10th of febuary 2017. As it began to put its self on my anti virus bullguard freaked out and quarantined it. Bullguard said: blocked suspicious file configure RT exe, it has been quarantined. More details = high risk. Path: c/programme files (x86) vulkan RT\1.0.26.0\configure RT exe. It then said attempted to modify protected settings c windows system 32\ vulkan_dll (created), c windows system 32\vulkan info.exe (created) and also the same again for 64 on both sentences.
After this my sims 4 game that runs on nividia worked perfectly before now crashed 3 or 4 times mid game. It froze and white screen also. I had no problems with the game before this update. I checked forums for nividia and at the time many people had the same thing happening and were confused. Some were saying it was just a false positive and to un-quarantine the file, others were removing it as they were scared it was unsafe. YET this came from windows update? I left mine in quarantine as nividia I was very confused and didn’t want to delete anything.
Since this my sims 4 game didn’t crash again BUT started to randomly freeze on exit. Also sometimes the sound would loop. This had never happened before. 4 out of 9 times it would do this. Every time it did, I had no choice but to ctrl alt delete to get to task manager and shut down the game from there. I went looking for answers and many sims players were having the same problem and they were running on nividia graphics cards. I checked all my game updates were up to date. I checked all my anti virus was up to date also and I had no viruses. I went through sims 4 repair game, but nothing worked. It just kept freezing on exit randomly. This continued up until this October when another windows up date came though, and my game started freezing every time on exit, and at the end of the same week my windows started to do the same.. freeze on exit. The wheel for shut down would just froze and the lap top wouldn’t shut down. In the end I had to shut down via the power button. The lap top when I did this didn’t do a scan disk either like I expected it too. I checked all windows updates were up to date, and I checked my game was up to date and I checked I had no virus.. I checked I had the hibernation settings correct. I shut down ok, but on opening the lap top later, I got scan disk, and an error message saying it had to re start windows even though this time it had shut down ok. It restarted its self. I found a video on line that said I had up date my drivers in device manager. I did this. I also went to trouble shooting on my lap top on the device and hardware section. It updated something on that, then it said it was fixing and making changes. It then gave me an error message that restart had encountered an error. It shut down, and restarted.
I checked my sims 4, and also my windows shut down. Both 4 out of 4 times shut down normally, BUT every time I turn on my lap top scan disk started, and said it was scanning for errors and fixing c drive, and then lets me on. If I press re start then it tells me there’s an error and it has to restart my lap top.
I cant find the quarantined windows update my windows sent me of the nividia display as bullguard isn’t showing it anymore. Its gone. I’m worried that if I try to update my audio drivers or do windows updates now that because restart is blue screening those fixes will go on wrong or not at all. I am also worried that if I try to re install windows from a usb or time back restart wont work.
