Our SCCM 2012 R2 primary site server is running Server 2012 R2. I’ve been trying to install updates through Windows Update, and Windows Server 2012 R2 Update (KB2919355) always appears in the list of available updates, even after apparently downloading and installing it and rebooting. No errors are apparent.

I’ve tried manually installing it, using the install instructions here:

No luck. No errors either. This server has WSUS, File Services, and IIS installed.

Please check if this update is installed in control panel.

Also, please check if there is any warning or error related to this update in the event viewer?

If this update is not installed, please make sure that KB 2919442 is installed on the server.

If it does not help then you can stop Windows Update service, remove the content of C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution and then start the service again.

The Update appears under Windows Update > View Update History as Status Succeeded. It does not appear under Programs and Features > Installed Updates.

KB2919442 is installed.

Looking through your link, I see none of the error codes in the Known Issues section that correspond to any entries in WindowsUpdate.log on the server. However, the WindowsUpdate.log file is persistently throwing two error codes every time I try to install via Windows Update:

WARNING: Failed to get Wu Exemption info from NLM, assuming not exempt, error = 0x80240037

Handler CBS called Error with 0x800f0816,

Also, in the last attempt at installing via Windows Update, I noted during the reboot sequence that Windows tries to install the update, fails, rolls back, then reboots normally.
